Spoke to the new guy here who is a pool fan.

Me: "Did you catch the game at the weekend?" *little smile on my face*

Him: "Yeah, less said the better I think. But if you watch the game, I know is was 4 goals but we gifted you all of them"

Me: *walks off laughing*

Can't be arsed to even carry on that conversation. No point.

I think he has a point actually. We’ve set up to counter against teams like Real, Dortmund and Liverpool. But against the likes of Swansea, Chelsea, West Brom etc we do struggle a bit. Last year we seemed to have cracked that issue, but it’s rearing it’s head again. Hopefully after Bournemouth last week we get a little more confidence against this kind of set up at home.

Glass house how? We often get the accusations that we have our own billionaire owner in Joe Lewis, but he has never really funnelled money into the club. If he’d been financially doping us, people would have a point, but he hadn’t.

Really can’t remember the last time we where around £1 billion net spend.
I was referring more to the "dirty money" part - profiting from Black Wednesday is morally questionable to say the least.

Also - while we've used Lewis's/ENIC's money in different ways to City - don't underestimate the amount of it we've seen.

Why is profiting from incompetence morally questionable?

Was Michael Burry of questionable morals when he shorted the US housing market?

Much rather be funded by 'dirty money' than West Hams 'Dirty Old Man' money.
Seriously though, im not sure Joe is comparable to City Or Chelseas owners personally, bias aside.

There is a big difference between running a business and having a play toy that you financially dope to win things. Admittedly the premier league and government should never have allowed what happened at Chelsea and Man City but it’s done.

Lewis yes ain’t the best guy ever but in the case of UAE we are talking about a government that has terrible human rights. The likes of them and Abramovich have blighted our game.

People always talk about Scousers having a great sense of humour but in my experience they can dish it out but can't take it. I was with a Pool supporting mate of mine today and was having a bit of banter about last weekend's match and he was all "I don't want to talk about it" but I continued ripping the shit out of him and in the end he just got really aggressive.

I'm sorry I even bothered going to his mother's funeral now. Humourless ****.

I’d hazard a guess that the money Uncle Joe has put into Spurs wouldn’t even cover City’s summer spend. Let alone the rest of the money that has been invested into City over the last 6 or 7 years. Spurs growth has been natural and self sustaining.

I completely agree that the way Joe Lewis made his money was morally dubious, but we haven’t been financially doped by it.

My brother in law is the same invited me over Sunday to watch the game, mind you he lives 5 minutes away from and has never invited me over before. [Wifes sisters husband] And I declined as i was working. And once we beat them, he thru a tantrum on our whatsapp group. Only invited me over to take the piss out of me as he thought it was a pool banker going on previous.

Humourless wankas.

But that could be down to me applying the blowtorch for a good three hours

Just had this argument on Twitter with a Scouse.

He was lamenting that one win against Pool doesn't make us a great team when i asked how many times Pool had finished above us in the last decade he said that was not a judgement of success and that trophies were. For me progressing as a football team is a success, and that logically trophies should be our next achievement.

Liverpool's current form is that of their 1964 season, how is that a success?

He then went on about their defence not being good enough, but Klopp has spent the money but in the wrong areas, and finally i said that (similar to the Walker case) did he think that Poch would play Courtinho has he handed in a transfer request. The guy said that Pool had no one to fill that position with experience!

I added that was the difference, Poch would have played a player with enthusiasm and loyalty over and above one of skill who wanted out. He simply did not understand that theory.

He then blocked me...

It's pointless trying to have a conversation with fans from other clubs on twitter. I gave up a long time ago.

Please explain how Joe Lewis' earnings from Black Wednesday are dirty

From Blue Moon

They're a much more physical team than people realise. The vast majority of their players are at least 6 ft tall, or at the very least close to it. Almost all their players talk about how hard Pochettino works them in that regard.
.

Could someone please tell me what training you do to get taller? Because - as the actress said to the bishop - I could use another inch or two.

My favourite local pub is run by a 'Pool fan and, needless to say his son is too. They were closed at the start of the game so I went into another good pub just up the street. At the end of the game I went into the first pub and said I've come in for a pint of gloating! To be fair they all laughed and asked what the final score was as the TV signal went down at half time.

That said it's in the west of Ireland and not Scouseland! Good craic!

I sit next to a Liverpool fan at work and got:
- We dominated between 2-1 and 3-1.
- If it wasn't for Lovren having a nightmare it would have been different
-Home fans were on the teams back until 3-1

To his first point: What the fuck does that matter?
To his second point: Maybe, maybe not. It certainly helped us but then it's their fault for not sorting out their defense over the summer
To his third point: That's just not true at all

City fans are SO touchy about the dirty money that’s been funnelled into the club.

Can't believe they don't get more credit for rebuilding their defence this year. Only cost them £160m as well, including £26m on a reserve right back. Stirring stuff. What a well run club.
