  • Richarlison - Awful awful signing by Spuds. This fluke aint worth worth even 30m. Can't complain though hahaha. ****ing mugs

This fella answered for all of us....

  • Think he's a good player myself with a bit of everything. I was more impressed with him in his Watford days but Everton is like Arsenal/Utd where they are the type of clubs that sometimes drag you down and you don't always show your ability. Bit of a fair weather player and phones it in loads, but will be interesting to see how he gets on or doesn't. Wilshere is chatting sh*t also, Richarlison makes Martinelli and ESR take a seat easily and before Jesus the entire fanbase would have taken him over Lacazette upfront.
  • I’ve no idea what Richarlison is good at, wearing an Everton shirt is kinda like a super strength version of wearing an Arsenal shirt, it immediately sucks everything good out of a player. So no doubt he’ll bang at sp*rs now.
  • Lenglet is a terrible signing. Awful defender.
  • Richarlison is a next level signing, a player that will elevate the team to greater things. You thought Conte was lucky with world class Son and Kane coming clutch? he now has a player to fill the gaps whenever Kane has a dry spell. Conte is a title contender next season, basically. Might take over Pool's spot as they learn how to make their new strikeforce gel.
  • This post is next level drivel if there ever was one
  • People don’t want to say it but it’s reality. Conte is building a serious team and City/Liverpool are due an off season. Sp**s will finish 3rd minimum next season, outstanding side.
  • I don't see it, outstanding forwards, outstanding manager, yes, rest of the squad is very 'meh' in my opinion. I can't see a great deal of change from last season with them, Chelsea, United and us fighting for 3rd-6th with 65-75 points.
  • Nice to see the annual overrating of Sp**s squad has begun. Two world class forwards and potentially a very good CB in Romero.
  • Sound like Arsenal fans who thought we’d beat them at the end of the season, only for us to get man handled.
  • Pretty simple really, they’ve got proven winners in key positions, compared to Arsenal who’ve got two rookies running things.

Even after Jesus he still walks in.

  • They have the edge on us for sure, last season and the upcoming one, better manager and two World class strikers. I think we will probably finish behind them but I don't see a huge gulf in class, maybe by a few points like last season.
  • Collectively we have better defenders  , they have better attackers, the midfield is fairly even. World class attackers will win you games though which is why they finished above us and might do again depending on how Jesus works out. Better manager as well which helps.
  • Think Sp**s signings are perfect for their squad, and they’ll add another couple I think. But also, I think Conte > Tuchel. Tuchel hasn’t done anything in the PL.
  • I'd be gutted if Sp**s got Richarlison. Find it really strange that they seem to be the only side in for him.
  • Not sure I agree, for me Sp**s signings are being overrated on here. Solid signings, nothing more. Chelsea also schooled Sp**s in every game last season. Sp**s didn't even score vs them in 4 games. Chelsea vs Sp**s in Matchday 2 will tell us a bit about where both teams are.
Hold tight - the guru himself has awoken......... SA_Gunner:

  • SA_Gunner - I'll believe Conte is a title contender when I see them play something more than just counter attacks next season. As it stands... their mid block, counter attacking football will not win you the league, because that works well for mid table and lower sides who do not have to come out at all. Sp**s need to press higher up the pitch for starters, and they have the players to do that. Problem is... they arent willing to push their lines up because that opens them up to be countered. To Conte's credit, he has Sp**s pressing more once teams cross into their half, so he is adaptable to latest trends.
  • Damn I rate Richarlison highly.. Lenglet is **** though, maybe a back 3 can hide his ****ness idk
  • Yeah, right, they are spanking 60M on Richarlison to warm the bench. Kulusevski hasnt shown anything to be an indisputed starter. And I am really petrified by this defense...
  • Sp**s got CL and borrowed a **** ton of money out for this window and the best deal they got was Bissouma. They’ve been bent over by Everton who somehow got £60M for a guy who’s never scored more than 11 goals in the PL all while they are begging for money because of FFP. If Arsenal got CL and that’s our window I’d throw up.
  • Conte is a piece of **** but brilliant manager, his biggest weakness however is picking the right players in the market loads of players he bought at Juve Chelsea or Inter have bombed. Perisic unfortunately will most likely be great for them, Bissouma too, Richarlison however I'm sure will manage to clash with Conte. If he manages to make Lenglet look serviceable again he deserves Manager of the Year. OnlyOne is right for a team that's in the CL their transfer business is unimpressive. Will mean little overall however because while we always look less than the total sum of our parts under Arteta Conte manages to extract great return out of nonsense players like Young Moses Giaccherini Höjbjerg etc.

  • Well, Sp**s have got a degree of insurance against the 'if Kane or Son gets injured' scenario, which they had to do eventually, so obviously glaring was the problem.

As has been said, the real question is how they will do against teams that don't give them space to counter, and can they keep investing sufficiently to keep Conte interested. Sp**s are such an unlikely club for him, it will be interested to see how this plays out - particularly as he's already threatened to resign to give them a kick up the rear once.

As things stand, they will be favourites for top 4 ahead of us again, but much depends on what business we do during the rest of the window. A Raphinha (or equivalent), Jesus, Martinez (or equivalent) & Tielemans collection of signings would move the needle for us. It all depends on can we get our targets, and if not, who our back-up targets are.

One thing is certain, Erik in Manchester is going to have to be transformative to get them anywhere near top 4 next year.

It's like they try to collect team full of punchable faces. It's a tactic, remember Holding in the last NLD? Elbowable face must be the next level. Cunning bastards.
Not really fuzzed about Tottenham buying Richarlison, although a good player. It's a perfect fit for them with his punchable face. Don't like also how he can get angry and make awful tackles sometimes. Also like I said earlier, he doesn't seem the brightest and can lose focus.

I don't think Richarlison oozes the kind of class we want at Arsenal, Raphinha was of that classy mold. Richarlison to me looks like Harry Maguire going to United. Expensive goblin faces (it's not just the looks).

He also fits Tottenham better for both, because they need a 2nd striker, we currently want backup if Nketiah doesn't perform. We also want a player who is comfortable at RW when Saka is rested, on the LW we have Martinelli and ESR both. Being able to build up play well is also needed.

Btw. my Tottenham fan cousin also has reservations about Richarlison's personality etc. He also thought they would buy a proper LCB, but wonders if they only have money to loan Lenglet.

Where to start….

‘we have better defenders’. ???
‘Kulu hasn’t shown anything to be (sic) undisputed starter’. Imagine if Arsenal bought a 22 year old who got 5 goals and 8 assists in half a season. They would act like they’d signed Pele
‘Bent over by Everton as Richarlison has never scored more than 11 goals in the PL’ for a shit team, but spending almost the same for a guy who never got more than 14 for the best team in the country even when he was their only CF is fine, and no one thinks Jesus has the all round game Richarlison has.
‘Borrowed a ton of money’ - another idiot who doesn’t know the difference between equity and debt

  • What a master negotiator Levy is.
  • £60m for Richarlison is what I’d call getting fleeced.
  • Levy got what he deserved he usually do that when teams ask for Sp**s players. He tired many attempts at the end paid what Everton wanted
  • Sp**s are outspursing us again on the market for now.
  • Richarlison Bissouma and 33 years old Perisic is Sp**s standards they aren't getting better than those plsyers no matter Conte or CL. Still all these 3 are good improvement
  • You forgot they're upgrading Davies with loan Lenglet.
  • I still don't get this transfer there no way they going from Bastoni to Langlet
  • It would certainly make sense that they don't have all the money in the world with their huge debts. So a risky loan deal for a Barcelona player might be on the cards.
  • Richarlison is a good signing and a front 4 of Kane, Son, Kulusevski and Richarlison is very good. A past it Persic and a very overrated Bissouma (the next Wanyama) are uninspiring signings that don't worry me in the slightest.
  • If you're Richarlison surely you go to Chelsea if thats true they bid? Also, where does he fit in at Tottenham, hes not displacing Son or Kane, Kuluveski seems a starter and you've also got Perisic, does he play off Kane in a 442? Doesnt Conte love 352..? For 40-60mil I cant see that being a backup signing, I know there will be more rotation next season but that a marquee signing figure.
  • Kulusevski looked incredible I have to admit. Agree that’s a hard break 3 to get into.
  • BBC saying it’s closer to 50M. Either way, 50-60M for him is a good deal. Brazilian international, young, grafter, end product. As I said before, i don’t think you need him when have Martinelli though, both very similar to me, so I’m not fussed. Sp**s are making good moves though, with their manager also, I don’t see us surpassing them next season. Their business looks better than ours so far.
  • Feels like this forum is full of LeGrove types now. Just constantly supporting anything Arsenal do whilst also pretending Sp**s are making terrible decisions when they’re clearly not. They’ve got an elite setup and it’s ****ing worrying that they’ve gone 6 years finishing above us.
  • Yeah I don’t get it, it’s weird. People going out of their way to call Bissouma a rapist too, despite him being cleared and his uncle being held for grabbing a girls *** or something. Sp**s looks in great shape, we needed to get CL to not only push ourselves ahead but stop them from kicking on, called it a few weeks ago.
  • What a trophy that is!
  • Sonaldo looks better than ever. In his peak now. One of the GOAT PL players.

Arsenal supporters don’t understand it’s all about team togetherness. There was an air of confidence with genuine togetherness at the end of the season-we went to the next level as a team. Any player that Conte believes fits/is good enough to sustain the high standard we are all expecting.

Irony here is Conte has won multiple league titles using this exact low-mid block style, including the Prem.

When Inter won the league in 20/21 they averaged 52% possession, while Chelsea had 55% when they won in 16/17 (Arsenal had 58% and finished 5th). Just because Pep's City completely dominate the ball and play with a high line, that doesn't mean it's the only effective way to win a league title.

Also, while our play looks like counter attacking, loads of our goals are actually built from the back through long passing moves that start with the keeper and the full-backs. If you draw a team onto you while you have the ball then then exploit the space behind them, that's not counter-attacking, it's well-worked, direct football (and very nice to watch when we pull it off).

I'm surprised how United are being included in the mix for 3-6th place. All they've done so far is changed manager and lost Pogba, Lingard, Matic, Cavan Martial and Mata.

Who did Arsenal start up front with last season and who do they have now.

Compare

Who did we start with and who do we have now. (Everyone forgets we have Moura in all the excitement). A player I want to be there next season -love the man.

It just seems that some posters just read newspapers or websites and then think they have a qualified “professional” opinion about players?

Also. A player that doesn’t play well for one team doesn’t make a bad player. There are so many factors in a player fitting in better at some places rather than others. Just calling a player shit because they didn’t do well. Is just so nauseatingly boring and unfounded.

I see that a number of them have taken to saying 'Conte' rather than Spurs in terms of what we may or may not achieve, classic goons already distancing us for any success/credit as a club in preparation (if we did) so they can take it away and say "yeah well if it wasn't for Conte then...blah blah blah"

All somewhat reminiscent of those Juve fans who thought they’d pulled our pants down for Rodrigo & Deki. They worked out ok for us.

They really got me when they said we have better defenders, anyway are they still winning the transfer window or are they just trying to win the internet now.
