Looking at the reaction after the semi final, I am kind of glad it was not the final that we lose in.

What the statistics don't tell you is the number of clear fouls from behind the referee didn't give.

I genuinely feel the ref was under pressure to not "ruin" a showpiece semi final by sending off players.

Luiz,Ake, and Alonso all lucky to be on the pitch at the end. Persistent fouling is in the laws , it was just not administered as it should have been.

On the BBC,United fan comment during their game aginst Burnley now:

Jerry Elumeze: Can't help thinking MUFC would be a much stronger team if it had spent the money it spent on Pogba on Kane and Dele Ali.

They'd need a lot more than 90m to get Kane and Alli.

In fairness a referee wanting to make himself the centre of attention could have sent Toby off.

Yeah, nothing wrong with a bloke sitting behind his keyboard in China/America/Africa telling match going fans what support is all about...nothing wrong with that at all.

I have no problem with foreign fans, i have a huge problem with match going fans getting shit from internet fans because they choose to leave when they see fit.
Maybe if you went 20-40 games per season you might understand why people do it.
Of course the day-trippers will stay till the end, its a novelty for them to actually be at a match.

Maybe some fresh blood is needed at the games, replace the grumbling go-home-early brigade with some vocal support when the team needs it! The people that go to games 20-40 times are year are in a priveliged position imo.. plenty of people would give a bollock to see the lads week in week out.

No disrespect intended, clearly we just disagree on this point.

None taken, but who mentioned grumbling?
I don't think you can pinpoint a certain type of person with leaving early....yesterday it was parents with kids, the young, the old, a bit of everything.
Maybe people should stop sticking their noses in? Just a thought.

Also quite funny this old topic always gets brought up after a defeat, never gets mentioned after a win....so with that in mind I think it's probably people who are still upset after the result and they're just venting.

Yes, I am in a privileged position seeing Spurs live as much as I do. And it was fans of another team that brought it up, not ours.

Far as I'm concerned if my view of key, interesting moments at the end of a game which is still close is affected, and it's the same damn people every time, it's my business.

Out of interest, did people leave early in the 70s and 80s? Just wondering if it's another element with modern football. I guess there was a lot less trafic back then.

And Lloris
You have to assume that if he or the linesman felt that Hugo had handled outside the box then he would have been sent off. That's not negotiable. They must've not been able to see. Sending Toby off would've been plain wrong.

I can't blame fans for leaving early from Wembley. It is a nightmare trying to get out from there.

I'm one of those in a so called privileged position. I stay to the end, every game, yesterday included, I'm as vocal as one can be.

That's the trouble with generalisations, they are in general incorrect.

If I could afford it I'd be there every week ruining my vocal chords and not leaving early.

No. The first recorded instance of a fan leaving early was observed in 1993.

Spurs v Villa, Spurs took a 1-0 beating & Spurs 'fan' Pat Cleary left 5 mins early to get a jump on the train queues. This kicked off a vicious spiral of early leavers, which many observers point to as the root cause of a subsequent 25 odd year period of stagnation & less than optimal results at the club
