I think we can only really know after a few more years. Bale is still "only" 26, he should be coming into his best years now. If he doesn't have more of an impact on the Real team going forward, then yeah, they overpaid massively.

Great for us in Hindsight..... the man hardly plays, seems to be a walking sicknote.

If players were only judged on their performances in training then players like Steve Mcmanaman would never have got to play.

It's more important how you perform at match day and VDV was an experienced enough player that managers would know what he is capable of.

Ledley King comes to mind if you want to talk about players training vs players on game day ....

True, but doesn't change the fact that the players who train the best shouldn't automatically play.

Reports suggest the likes of Rebrov, Dumitrescu and Soldado were amazing in training and didn't translate onto matchday, which is kind of the important thing.
