So, just supposing Ramos did decide that Lennon wasn't part of his plans for next year, would your comment above still stand, so far as the manager was concerned?

I would be very shocked and disappointed if he did, but I can't at all imagine that he would.

"don't believe we are getting the best out of our team"? whaa'? we've won a cup and we were unlucky to get knocked out the UEFA Cup!!!!......credit where credit is due!!!!!....Ramos has done an AMAZING job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......i'm all for freedom of expression, but if anyone says they know better than Juande (and that we should build a team around Lennon) they should be put away in a darkened padded cell.....with their I Love Lennon posters on their walls.. in brail!!!

Where the fuck did I type that we should build a team around lennon or that I knew more than Ramos. Exactly I didn't perhaps you should actually read peoples posts before passing comment or you will end up making yourself look very silly.

I wouldn't say Everton are better than us - unless they finish 4th which I don't think they will, we'll have had a better season than them- even if they finish 4th I'd still prefer our season, cos I think they'll be pretty sharpish back in the UEFA and it's now 13 years since they last won a trophy - we're now two trophies ahead of them in the all-time list - they had a golden chance against a weakened CFC team in the semi, and blew it.

plus we're much more watchable -

Hey DC, we won the league cup, which is great, but we're 11th which is embarrasing when you consider the players we've got & money spent (regardless of a league cup win - we'd be pissing our sides if Arsenal won the league cup but were floundering in the bottom half)

Everton got to the Semis & lost to Chelsea
They got to the same stage of the UEFA Cup & they're challenging for 4th, pushing all the way.

They look a much better outfit than us and have done all season, yet they've spent bugger all.

I want to know WHY?

Because they didn't undermine their manager after 2 weeks of a new season!

Come on, it's obvious to see that the whole Jol --> Ramos transition was anything but smooth. How could you expect it to be after what happened? To be honest, this season is pretty much a miracle season considering what it was in October. We've already secured UEFA qualification and have a trophy. Everton will probably finish 5th, with no trophy mind, and have the bragging rights as the best of the rest.

But it's no secret we're a sleeping giant and Ramos is the man to explode our potential.

I don't see how people can be upset about our season from what it was. It could have been so much worse.

"Aaron Lennon is the shock new name heading for the Tottenham exit door as ruthless Juande Ramos plans for next season.
In the wake of the UEFA Cup exit to PSV, it has emerged that Ramos is ready to move for up to six new players to revamp the first team.
And Spurs are now willing to listen to offers for £10millionrated Lennon, who cost them just £1m from Leeds three years ago".
Despite his status as an England international winger, Lennon has failed to prove to Ramos that he can be an effective weapon on a consistent basis".

I agree, and Ramos is the man imo. However he hasn't done it yet really, although it's an uphill struggle and I wouldn't expect him to get it right already.

But even last year, with the players we had we should've been closer to 4th, if not made it there. I don't believe that we get the best out of our calibre of players that say Pompey, Villa or Everton do.

They seem like much more consistent units, even though their squads are nowhere near ours.

Written by someone on the Mirror Sports Desk, I believe.

To borrow Dylan Moran's utterances:

I'm not saying it's a bad article, you know, or anything like that, all I'm saying is that you could get a broom, say, and dip it in some brake fluid and put the other end up my arse, and stick me on a trampoline in a moving lift and I would write a better article on the walls.

:) Kendall, I take your points, but Stoof has mentioned some of the reasons why we're 11th -

I can honestly say that when I watch Everton they don't look a better outfit to me - did you see the way they choked big-time against a very beatable CFC side - I would have been e,barassed if Spurs put in a performance like they did at Goodison, and their fans weren't much better

They're a bunch of sluggers and bruisers with a bit of quality on top, but no-one to compare with the artist that is Berbs

sure they'll finish 5th (I don't think 4th) - but it's like when we did - great- but it didn't advance our trophy count - that's what I go on - I remeber how bitterly disappointing 1987 was - we had a far better team than Everton now - we finished 3rd, made a final and a semi, played great football - so easily eclipsed the season they're having - but that season still hurt in the cos there was no end product

if Everton finish 4th - build on that in the CL and start attracting playes that win trophies and play good football then in retrospect you can say they did have a better season than us - perhaps - but it won't happen, we'll build better than them, and I bet we win another trophy before they do-

we have the glory now - only Man U have won trophies six decades in a row like us - Everton missed out i think in the 50s and this deccade is running out fast for them - like it was for us - till JJ took that fateful free kick, Cech amade that fateful punch and the rest was glory

I disagree about consistency - especially with Pompey and Villa. Two of the most unpredictable sides in the League. Everton fair enough, but a poor Villa drew with Middlesbrough - who are somehow floating in the neutral zone above the relegation places.

But this is about Lennon - and lest we not forget that. Or other such words that mean we should get back on topic.

We also drew with Boro, with more quality on the pitch and more money spent.

I just think they're looking a stronger and more consistent side. We can make our excuses about cup hangovers and stuff, but we've heavily underachived this season. With the money spent and the quality we have we should be able to win the league cup, challenge in the Uefa cup and still maintain a healthy position in the league - being 20 points behind Everton is unacceptable.

Hi Kendall - it's all about opinions but I completely disagree that we've underachieved, we've won a trophy that's a major achievement - outside the big 4 only Rovers Boro and ourselves have managed that this century (from memory) - this has been a very good season for us (IMHO)

Think we ought to forget about any 'lemmon love-in' and just look to strengthen the side, in whichever position needs it.

Personally, I believe that Lemmon will not improve beyond the level he is currently at; which means that other players are improving.

Therefore, the question ought to be: "can a position/player be improved-upon" and if the answer is "yes" (and it suits the management's requirements) then we ought to do just that.

It's the way any club progresses.......

I dunno. I love the glory of a trophy, but not at the expense of the league.

Boro and Rovers won trophies, but they were shit and some could call it a one off. Looks like a 2nd rate club will win the FA Cup, it doesn't sit well with me. Average teams win cups at the expense of league form. Good teams do both.

But just about every position can be improved upon with few exceptions (Berba, King & Woodgate)

So it's surely about priority & reality?

In which case when you look at the overall picture is a right sided attacking player a priority? Personally I think not.

Certainly next season the league has to be our priority.

people (possible signings etc) will see our league position this season for what it is, on the back of Jol & Ramosgate etc.

But come august the real battle in this era for Spurs begins and it has to be focused on our Premiership form.

I think the priorities are:(in no particular order)

GK
Midfield
Striker

Positionally, it will depend (as is usually the case) on availability/money/need & blending into the side.
