Malbranque
Age 28
6 goals 6 assists

Lennon
Age: 20
9 assists 3 goals

Zokora
Age: 27

Compared to rival players(who can supposedly "cross"):

Bentley
Age: 23
9 Assists 9 Goals

Downing

Sean Wright Phillips

The facts speak for themselves.

I like how you didn't mention Ashley Young. He's only on, I dunno, 14 assists.

The same as Berbatov, actually.

Most of young's assists come from dead balls, he doesn't produce many assists from open play.

Nearly all if not all of Lennon's assists come from open play.

Good point well taken, but we ourselves would probably say "look at Bale's assists!" if we scored a bucketfull of goals from set pieces. And I wish we did, we know that Berbatov and others can head the ball, we just haven't had good balls whipped in.

Last time I counted Berbs had 17 assists in all compeitions - (I count winning a pen or a free kick from which we score directly as an assist)

Lennon offers us something extra on the ball and with his speed and being able to run at players the most important thing is that he creates so much extra space for others. How many times do you see teams doubling up on him, before Lennon finding a team mate to supply the cross. He is a superb player and, yes, he has some areas to improve in his game but then, show me the perfect player.

Yes and Lennon has had about half the minutes on the pitch that Young has.

As much as I agree with the general tone of this thread, stats don't tell the whole story at all. They never do. Unless you're just trying to prove something statistical, which this isn't.

great point son!

There's few players in the league that when running with the ball you feel something is going to happen like you do with lennon. His pace is phenomenal and lets not forget he's had periods out with injuries which for a player of his kind takes a while to come back from. I think he's back to his best at the minute and long may it continue

He provides us with fantastic penetration into the box (oo-er) and has the ability to get round the back. He's always going to have end product from those two facets of his game alone. He still has a fuckload more potential to fulfil though.

Winds me up when i hear people say he's got no end product, obviously said by people who don't go to games very often.

A big hand for Lennon, and that man who started this thread. Lennon's a great player, still very young, and under Ramos' guidance he will improve alot.

I think all our players deserve a bit more support from us as fans. Especially the young'ens.

I must add, Lennon should not be taking corners! He's a good player and has many strengths, but set pieces are not one of them. The Hudd should be taking them, if not Hudd then Jenas.
