The Lennon has no end product myth. (Assists/goals)

This thread came up into my mind when watched the Pompey game today. I don't think it's fair to say Lennon has no end product, but it's fair to say that too often his end product is lousy. Like today he tried to get the ball in the box something like 10 times or so and managed only twice, and even those went behind our strikers! This has been his problem for quite a while already and I really hope he can solve it!

I find myself hoping he'll get into the penalty box and someone will make a stupid tackle and we'll get a penalty because I don't trust him to put in a decent ball.

What!?!?

To be FAIR is to say it's sucks big time and it actually makes you wonder how he can keep his job. Today was painful to watch...very painful. :bang:

lennon must work on his higher ball crosses. And his first time crosses. He is very good at beating his man and crossing low once on or inside area,

He is still young, and i am positive the Juande will get it in his head soon...

bet you next sunday against newcastle he will have it perfect! He knows why he got subbed, and will want to prove he can work on it

he simply cant cross the ball in the air which negates the point of running down the wing really doesnt it?

he however does put in some nice little passes along the ground which are his only end product and the boy really hasnt got a good shot on him

I really cant understand all the backing he is getting from people on here after being SO shit for SO long? Had this been Steed, Chimbonda, Lee, Tainio and most of the rest of the team EVERYONE would be screaming for us to sell them!

Why is it diff with Lennon?

needs to spend less time in the club and more on the training ground.

lennon has 2 types of crosses. 1 that he 'chips' that misses everyone except the kid in row z.
and the other one which does not get off the ground and rarely gets passed the 1st defender.

i play as a winger and get as much pleasure crossing a ball as i do scoring or getting an assist. what he has to learn is to curl the ball into the box, into the 'danger' area.
if i was a coach i would get a dvd of beckhams crosses just to see the technique he has and the sort of area he hits and also get gareth bale to show him some stuff because it is so frustrating not seeing any improvement

Provided that they are not cut out by the first defender, crosses along the ground are much easier for strikers and midfielders to get on the end of - ball to feet.

I still say the big issue with Lennon is that he doesn't get the ball knocked into space often enough. He gets balls to feet at pace and is usually marked or even double marked. If he manages to get past the defender (and he's become a bit of a one-trick pont there - knock it outside and try to beat them on pace) then the defence are usually back in the 6-yard box and well aware that he'll be passing across face of goal.

So, although he needs to learn how to whip in higher balls from the by-line, give him better service and he'll be able to get to the by-line more often before the defence is crowded

Because we've seen him be brilliant and we know he can do it. Same thing happened with Defoe, even though he was shit for 2 years, most people remember when he was on fire for 6 months and that's the Defoe they kept backing no matter how many times he was offside or blasted it into the stand.

I've said for a long time that Lennon needs to learn how to cross. The problem is he's stopped doing the things he's good at now too. We no longer see him zip past a player and pull it back, he gets the ball and is expected to beat a player now.

But how often have we seen him BRILLIANT??? 30% of his games since he has become a regular in the starting 11??

There's no point denying that Lennon has performed brilliantly in his time at Spurs.

There's also no point in denying that he has been mostly crap this season.

The question that Ramos has to face is whether Lennon is fundamentally brilliant but is suffering from a dip in form, or whether Lennon is fundamentally a bit rubbish but had a great first season in a Spurs shirt. Personally, I hope we hang onto him. I don't think you get many players in a Spurs shirt who are playing for England and destroying international defenders after 6 months at the club.
