That's not fair. If you look through my posts over the last couple of days, you will not find a single one where I'm gloating.
I actually think that we were very lucky to get away with a victory. England should have been out of sight after India's first innings collapse.
I don't like the accusations of the crap yesterday about there being no CCTV for "Saint Jimmy", I thought it was completely unnecessary. Most had been nothing but gracious about the fact England were beaten by a better team. Today, Virat apparently had songs "sung about him all day by the Barmy Army", which again I'd need proof of, I've heard none and I have the official songbook at home. Most Barmy Army songs are just pro-England, save a couple for Mitchell Johnson and one about Brad Haddin.

I don't think India were lucky at all, I thought apart from the first day when the pitch was doing a bit, they controlled most of the game and the spell from Bumrah with a 70 over old ball was nothing short of sensational.

It's such a shame in my book that the next test starts on Friday, I think they could have done with a few more days rest as there could be some lagging out there.

haha

Look guys, this kind of controversy follows Kohli around like a shit fly on a bulls arse. There are multiple instances reported of his poor behaviour so it isn't as if the accusations are groundless and all we've had in response is what about Anderson, or what about the jelly beans, what about this, what about that. None of it is relevant, none of it makes Kohli's behaviour OK because that's who we're talking about. Kohli, not Anderson of any of the other whataboutistas.

If you don't like that I think he's a prick, that's fine but let's not pretend he's a saint or blameless here and nobody is suggesting he's not a great player or India aren't a great team either, again, the criticism has nothing to do with that or indeed the result. He behaves at times, in ways that for me and a significant number of others, crosses the line. I'm sure he's a very nice chap off the field but he needs to wind his neck in on it sometimes. That's all.

Another example of the dire state of English red ball cricket. It's a must win game, and they've picked a horribly out of form Keeper batsman who has just missed a Test and probably wont tour in the winter, and a spinner who has played 3 games since March to bolster the squad.

We're all friends here :) There is seriously nothing untoward from my side, just backing a player of a team I'm very passionate about just as we all would with any Spurs player. Remember Dele in his first few years with us, he was a little s*** but he was our little s***

What a great series it has been though, this is why Test cricket is the best and will always be the best. Kudos to these guys playing at this level, I struggle to show any kind of batting concentration/resilience against crap opposition on Saturdays, what these guys have to do at the Test level is unbelievable.

It's a shame there isn't more of a rest for the players before the 5th test but no doubt it will once again be a great spectacle considering how unpredictable both sides are.

Squabbles over I'm looking forward to Friday now.
From an England point of view our top order still melts like a chocolate fireguard, but Burns and Hameed at least seemed to have stopped the rot.
Bowling side I thought Jimmy looked knachered in India's second innings and just wonder whether the age and bowling in that heat caught up with him - does not bode well for an ashes series in places like Perth and Adelaide, where the heat is especially fierce.
I am sure he will be getting as much rest as he can to come back firing on his home patch. If England are to square the series they need him at the top of his game.
We still lack a top class spinner - long term I think it will be Bess - good cricketer who will come again I hope.

As an India fan (in case people hadn't noticed), the bowler I fear most is Wood. If he could add a bit of control to his incredible speed, he would be a world beater.
I really hope Anderson retires after playing the final test at his home ground. A grueling Ashes series would be too much for someone of his age. He's completely knackered now.

Bess - Good cricketer? That’s an Oxymoron

Hes 24 - got a test batting average of 23 and bowling average of 34 (yes I did just look that up!) - not bad for a young spinner as they tend to come into their prime in their 30's.
Just my opinion but he and Pope look like they have what it takes to succeed at test level long term.

Sorry but that's rubbish, Anderson is suffering from England not being able to bat long enough to give the bowlers a rest. He looked fitter than Robinson who is about 15 years younger than him. Agree about Wood, but he will always have the fitness issue, his body is made of paper.

Completely agree, Bess will turn into a batting allrounder, he's batting at 6 for Yorkshire and bowling a bit. Took Graeme Swann a long time to mature. We cant keep persisting with Moeen.

I don’t understand why they keep picking Leach. Poor guy has pretty much lost 2 years of his career having to carry the water bottles around for past two summers and play second fiddle to Bess and Ali. Clearly Silverwood and Root dont rate him that highly. It’s Not like Root will drop his mate Moeen for the last test anyway. Will also Be interesting to see who makes way for Buttler as well my money is on Pope. Which based on the performance in the last test it shouldn't be.

I’ve never seen anything from Bess to suggest he’ll turn into a good English test match bowler. He’s done ok with the bat but he’s in the side as our spinner. How many ordinary bloody all rounders do we need!!

I'm probably going to get roasted for saying this but whenever I've watched him play white ball cricket, I've always been very impressed with the spin-bowling of Matt Parkinson but he's never as far as I know, been given a chance at test level.

Going by what you've said there about Woody, you're probably happy we're missing Jofra Archer too. Both 90+ mph bowlers, but Archer probably has greater control (?)

I just hope we can get both men fit and reay for the Ashes.

I saw Bess play quite a bit for Sidmouth in the Devon Premier League and he hardly stood out at that standard.

Archer wont play again this year, already confirmed.
