Test match is off by sounds of it. Shame England aren’t going to get the chance to level series (even though India we’re going to be strong favourites going into the game).

Wow! India forfeited, even weirder...

Any chance of England putting on an exhibition match for spectators? ECB won't want to give that ticket money back.

Assuming that the staff members who tested positive are isolating regardless, how is playing the match any more risky than staying in their bubble in the hotel?

Something really stinks here.

I don't think we need to be too diplomatic or 'correct' about what we say here. It's all about India protecting the players so that they can participate in the upcoming IPL.
It's an absolute disgrace and a kick in the teeth for all the fans who had tickets to watch the match.

I remember having tickets for day 4 of England vs Windies at Edgbaston with the school (1996 ish) and Windies mullered us in 2&1/2 days.

Windies ended up playing Warwickshire in a 50 over game, which was a good spectacle.

IPL now officially more important than test match cricket. Really disappointing and sad end to a great series.

Statement from the BCCI, for what it's worth.

Reschedule as a one off Test? Yea right, won’t be happening this year will it.
Only option would be to cancel the 3 ODI and Tug matches next summer and put it in there, obviously ain’t going to happen because the ECB need the cash.
Needs to go down as a forfeit and the series finishes level at 2-2.
I certainly won’t be putting any IPL on my tv this year, yet another nail in the coffin for Test cricket.

according to Tom Harrison (ECB), the India players were 'not mentally prepared to play' due to the fear of what might happen after their physio tested positive.

have to say, i can't quite understand that line.

More likely fear that they won’t be able to play in the IPL! They never wanted to play this test in the first place
