Despite prior reports that new Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou was looking to move on a host of first-team assets following his appointment at N17, the window came and went with a number of the 'deadwood' having remained on the books.

Bit unfair on Sanchez in my view, financially been a poor transfer and on the pitch not as good as we would have hoped BUT it has been a challenging environment at the club in recent years, lots of negativity, change of systems and managerial change etc.

Looked ok at the start when paired with either Toby or Jan, but as soon as he played with Dier, everything fell apart and it seemed that his confidence never came back. Loads of silly mistakes. Even when he hoofed clearances it looked like he was kicking a balloon - hardly got a quarter of the length of the pitch.
Showed some character after the booing though.

Leave big Dav alone.

Gave us everything he had. Might have been short on quality at times, but it certainly wasn't through lack of commitment or effort.

FFS, people need to understand not all transfers work out. Sanchez was a huge prospect coming out of Ajax, and NDombele signing was celebrated by us fans as a statement signing.

You can all rewrite history and make it as if you all knew, or you can just accept some signings aren't great.

There isn't a manager in the world without shit signings, and at Spurs, they are all Levy signings

You start off by making a very valid and logical point that not all signings work out (in fact I'd amend that to "most" signings don't work out).

Then you go and make a silly comment that all the shit signings we've made are Levy signings. Clearly we have made "club signings" but to say every shit signing we've made is a club signing is wrong.

Fair point but generally it seems Levy was making all the signings. Not many managers have said they were picking players to sign.

That's not usually levy though. He has others in place to scout and investigate. The scouting departments will recommend players to the club/manager they think will be successful with us and give the manager the option of signing him (if he's first team ready) sometimes the manager says yes (Ange and Maddison) and sometimes they say no (Redknapp and Suarez).

The idea that a manager still goes out and scouts players to sign is no longer commonplace, it just doesn't happen so much anymore. At best a manager may say this is the guy I want " go get him" (Conte and bastoni) and the club will do what they can to sign him. But most of the time the manager will give the club a profile and say find someone that fits and the club will come back with options to pick from

So technically speaking, all those types of signings are club signings except the Conte/Bastoni type - Maddison was a club signing.

Sanchez was decent when he first signed and I thought an excellent signing as it provided depth in a position we were already strong in.

Im sorry but whoever decided to spend £63M on Ndombele needs their head examining! He looked over weight from minute one and surely it didn't take a genius to see despite his talent, he was not a suitable fit for the Premier League!
