No such thing as a friendly against Chelsea. They still have that? It's just a friendly though.

It's a lot more meaningless than the league cup. It's viewed as a glorified ore season friendly genuinely. A bit like when we won the peace cup!
Would be good to win as it's at Wembley, but I'd be genuinely embarrassed if anyone at Spurs ( fans or players) celebrated winning the community shield.
What do you want them to do at the end of the game? Slink off, shamefaced, holding the trophy at arm's length by the fingertips?
Obviously not. I'm mostly talking about the fans. Would hope the players wouldn't exactly be bigging up the significance of it in the media etc.
Lol well I think it's about as meaningless as the league cup in some people's eyes but as we keep on hearing, silverware is silverware. It would represent a start wouldn't it. Breed the winning mentality as it's a final and all that. Especially as it's Wembley.
Trouble is, if we get in it and lose it they'll be banging on about our record at Wembley instead!
I don't know what the point is in supporting a club if you can't take pleasure in watching them win something? I want us to win every single match we play, friendly or otherwise, and any tournament, be it League Cup, Europa League, Charity Shield, Peace Cup or Premier League. It being a dead rubber didn't stop me being delighted with the Hull win, nor would it have prevented me being pissed off had we lost.Would be good to win as it's at Wembley, but I'd be genuinely embarrassed if anyone at Spurs ( fans or players) celebrated winning the community shield.

Never said I wouldn't enjoy us winning it or not be bothered losing. I just think celebrating it like we've won a trophy (even though technically it is) is a bit desperate.
It's definitely one of the two.I thought it was the other way round?
It's definitely one of the two.
I'd rather we wouldn't need to play it and could focus our efforts at getting the actual season underway.
And it would be played at Wembley where everyone is clamoring for us to get in a few matches...What's the difference between playing this match and a friendly which would have been scheduled in the same weekend anyway?
