I imagine as the match wasnt actually televised it would have an impact on how many posts the match gets. Can't comment if you cant see it.
Have to disagree. I know he was on a (needless) yellow so had to be careful but sorry that wasn’t “tackling with caution” that was powderpuff defending, a half arsed attempt at a tackle followed by a half arsed attempt to get back and block the shot. Up until that time he’d had Mitrovic in his back pocket which made it even more frustrating. He was tackling with caution because anything more rash and caused us a penalty, there will similarly be others slating him for that as well. Credit to Mitrovic for that goal more so than anything else.

Yes pretty much how I saw it but more succinctly put.For 85 mins a stroll in the park. We had a bit more energy and zip today, Fulham though were one of those teams who rocked up and did quite a lot of nothing - didn't press, didn't get in behind the ball, didn't have any ideas apart from boot it towards Mitrovic, loads of space for the man on the ball, loads of space between the lines. Really the opportunity (like last weekend) was there to thrash them, a bit of bad luck in terms of the woodwork but I thought in the final third we were quite wasteful again and still don't think our attackers are firing on all cylinders. But we played alright and were well worthy of an extremely comfortable scoreline.
Then though we got 5-10 mins where I was just left shaking my head at how hard we can make it for ourselves, and show we still lack maturity, tactical discipline, calm heads, intelligence and smarts, etc. 2-0 up and last few mins, you don't all run forward sniffing a goal (eg. Romero) and then get caught short, someone out of three of our players has to make the tactical foul, they don't, all of a sudden it's 2-1. That was a bit sloppy, after that we just carried on doing dumb shit - players running out of position and getting ahead of the ball to give them more counter opportunities, individuals charging to close down and losing all shape, not holding on to possession and making smart decisions, needlessly running offside, shit like Emerson pushing up to take a throw in in injury time and then having to dash back because his position is empty, blah blah blah.
It's a funny old game.....
Emerson is clearly also becoming better in the WB role and showed in pre-season that his fitness is elite level while Doherty came off a long-term injury. Even if/when he's fit again I don't think he's displacing Emerson at this rate.Well both Sess and Perisic had the bulk of Conte's pre season. Peresic a bit less and so Sess started the first few games of the season. How much pre season did Spence and Doc have compared to Emerson?
I do agree with your points re the CB's. Thing is those ball playing CB's are difficult enough to get as we found out this Summer. There was a reason Conte was more than happy to take Langlet, and refused any of the back up options for the other CB we wanted to bring in.This is what I was saying on Wednesday.
Some were saying that our midfield is the issue, it isnt just that.
With Lenglet and Romero, you have two players who can draw in the opposition and build patterns. They also have the ability to draw out the opposition and then ping balls into the front three.
Sanchez and Davies have severe limitations with this.
So even if Bentancur had played Wednesday we would have had similar issues because the defenders can't work the space or attract the opposition.
It's why Bissoumas performance shouldn't be judged to harshly until he gets that benefit too. He will be able to play his natural game, knowing he has competent ball players behind him.
Might be wrong but I don't get the feeling matches being televised affects the match threads much. Some people.
Most is stretching it.
Didn’t miss much, slight improvement over Westham performance (not hard tbh)but still too many loose passes and predictable play. Based on what I’ve seen I would be happy to finish fourth this season.I imagine as the match wasnt actually televised it would have an impact on how many posts the match gets. Can't comment if you cant see it.
I think sess is a very clever runner there is a reason he gets into good areas as often as he does. I'm happy with both, I don't think there is as much difference between the two as some might think.thought emerson was good, sess was good but also needs to improve his final boy, which is competitor perisic has shown to be world class at
Agree. There's a few people conspicious by their absence
Hope so.Do people see Lenglet becoming more of a first choice pick based on today?
Early days I know...
Yeah, you're right. We are lucky in this respect that of we can't be at our best with the ball, at least Davies and Sanchez are decent defensively so we should still be tough to beat.I do agree with your points re the CB's. Sanchez and Davies might not be a great fit for how we play but I don't see how we get 4 CB's for those two roles because you are almost talking about elite players for those positions. We are just going to have to suck it up as far as back up options not being so good on the ball. At least they are both pretty solid defensively.
It's a little bit of this, but a lot of our effectiveness at playing from those positions came from things happening higher up. A lot of that was really down to Fulham's limitations, I would not expect the same fluidity with the same players in teams with a little bit more of a solid spine. This is what I was saying on Wednesday.

Going to be ups and downs for sure. As Conte says this couldn't be done in one window, so he's acknowledging it'll take time. The fans need to take that on board as well a bit more I think. Thanks for the update hopefully moving forward the team improves so maybe I misjudged it so well done to the team.
