Just got back from the game. Absolutely cold af but immensely proud of our fans and for the effort the players put in. We do lack technical ability and In hoping we bring players in who are comfortable on the ball.

Fulham are not an easy side to beat and we looked very comfortable in the second half, I thought.

Is it the vintage, swashbuckling football we played under ‘Arry? Of course not, but as a fan of this glorious club, I will always back and support whoever the manager is, irrespective of whether I wanted him in the job in the first place or whether I like his style of football.

I see some of the regular anti Conte posters bitterly complaining about the nature of the win tonight and prefacing their posts with “yeah we won but….”.

I will never understand such a mentality but each to their own.

In contrast, I’m fucking freezing but ecstatic with the win.

Great to get that win and good words from Conte afterwards about trying to make this a turning point in our season. If we keep beating teams below us, we'll rack up points. I only caught glimpses of the game and we do look way off a top side in terms of playing patterns. We just don't have a good flow in possession and sometimes it's schokingly bad compared to higher placed teams (and some lower placed teams to be honest). It's hard to get a run of 5 wins on the trot when that's the case.

But maybe they can galvanize and toughen up enough to allow confidence back in to play better football. If this and the Palace game were losses, we'd be really in the mire. So hopefully we can re-launch off of this.

A win’s a win, and hopefully we can use this to go on a run in the league and start making up a little ground on the Top 4 places. I don’t think Newcastle will keep up their pace over the 2nd half, so feel like we have a good shot to get 4th. A lot of that hinges on us being active in this window, though.

Now, let’s see who we have next in the league… well, shit.

This was always going to be a difficult game for us so given the circumstances and all the noise so I am abolsutely delighted to come away with three points.

We were poor first half but once we scored we held the lead well. Not the most inspiring performance but would gladly grind out results like this til the end of the season.

If we can keep Bentancur, Romero, Kulu and Kane fit and add Porro and Zaniolla this month we could actually salvage something from this train wreck.

I would also like to see Bissouma get a run in the team...Hojberg is off and even though Biss has not impressed we all know what he is capable of. I think him and Bentancur could pair up well in the middle.

EDIT: Meant to say I was at the game and the fans were superb...really need to keep that going for the rest of the season.

It was nice to see us take a lead, and close the game out. The performance at Palace, and this one too, they are two really good away wins.

Awesome away fans!!

It gives me a glimmer of hope??

Not a dirty game but a very physical game. Quite a few players on both sides will be feeling it tomorrow.

How can Bissouma become the player we want when he's never given the chance? not having all this doesn't understand the system nonsense ,any player needs a run of games to get up to speed ,but don't worry by this time next year he'll be back to his Brighton form, unfortunately it will be for Chelsea or Arsenal, our manager will be long gone by then but Pierre Emile Hojberg will still be one of the first names on the team sheet.
You got this coming Saturdays lotto numbers ? Be really helpful . Cheers

Yeah - no question that we are lacking fundamental technical ability.

That hurts us more than simply having 2 CMS. Tonight Bentancur was a bit off, but Hojbjerg really struggles in that department.
Agree . We really need another midfielder who can not only mix it but play or drive through the lines

great win - thought we looked comfortable defensively, especially in 2nd half. There's a collective depression that's set in at spurs, right from the top all the way to fans on the terraces (won't mention keyboard warriors as they don't need depression to stir up nonsense!). Personally, I feel everyone has underestimated a couple of things that are all not unique to us admittedly, but i'm sure impact the overall 'energy' running through the club:

1. Loss of Ventrone ...this was huge and impacted everyone at the club and probably Conte the most. He trained Conte and later on Conte brought him as a member of his staff - I believe their bonds were deep and I've no doubt it impacted Conte the most as you can see from his touchline behaviour - he needs time, especially after losing 2 other close friends in Sinisa and Vialli.

2. Impact of WC - spurs had a lot of players participating but the mental strain of preparing for a sprint to WC & then the actual WC, then return from WC and get ready to sprint again in PL, UCL, FAC has to be tough on all players & clubs. From a confidence point of view you can see how having a weaker mentality might affect players. Harry recovered quite well from his miss but that's because he has an elite mentality. Not everyone processes & manages things the same!

For sure the players have been off it for a while and I've wondered why they can seem so much in a daze & almost snooze their way through many games until they realise they need to wake up (2nd halves usually). In my view, all this relates to mental fatigue where even if players are fit & ready to, their minds are almost on autopilot. I'll probably get nailed for putting this out there - but before anyone decides to take a pop at this thought - I'm only offering what I believe to be contributing factors to our general state (on & off the pitch) this year i.e. Disrupted season, personal losses, physical fatigue from so many games which they mentally & physically prepare for & then of course pressure for performance and results - seems to me plausible when you consider how inconsistent we have been - even at home where we're usually stronger.

Anyways, I truly hope this is the turning point and that Conte & the team start looking ahead & start thinking about enjoying the upcoming challenges of FAC, UCL and trying to achieve CL again for next season. There's a helluva lot to play for - even the first part of the season has not been great for us. It's not how you start, it is how you finish and I'm backing us to finish stronger than we started the season. COYS!

They ask such stupid questions to players sometimes in interviews

" Were you just looking to bend it around the player there Harry?"

As if he's gonna say "no to be honest I was actually trying to boot it straight into the player but I just miss hit it" ??
He only boots it into players when it's a free kick..

Biggest difference yesterday was all about intensity to pressure from non dangerous areas which stopped the supply especially in the 2nd half.

Our players still look like they don't see each other during the week with regards to passing, but defended better as a team.

Still feel like we are carrying players especially Son, but also both Wing backs going forward, as Kane was quite isolated as both wide forwards kept very wide, and both wing backs were support players.

It was dull, we were not great but it's 3 points, 5th 3 points off 4th, and Conte at the end shows he still has the passion. Onwards and Upwards COYS

Two in midfield is still a huge problem when playing out from the back. Passing options were easily shut down. Only changed in the second half when Fulham had to chase. They got ragged and we found it easier.

Don’t feel there is much to analyse other than our attitude. It’s getting better and the football will follow.
Conte will leave us with a trophy or a top 4 finish I’m sure. Once it clicks again, we will fly.

IMO- we look like a team that lacks desire and purpose. The cups will give us a reason to win the game in front of us. We will see a different Spurs in the CL and FAC. ATM we are just keeping pace in the PL - keeping our hopes open just in case something miraculous happens.

People moaning about the performance need to look at the bigger picture. We know we are off form and low on confidence, and that kulusevski, Bents and Richarlison are rusty whilst Son is horribly off form, and that we lack technical and skillful players. Fulham away under the lights is a very difficult game, it might not have been exciting but it was actually a pretty good performance all things considered (from about 30 mins on). 6 points away to Fulham and Palace would be good going at the best of times so credit where its due.
