Berbatov or Dempsey on dealine day is a no brainer but lets be honest, I'm not sure Berbatov would have been entirely conducive to AVB's work ethos. Isn't that one of the reason's why SAF jettisoned him ?

Hindsight's piss easy, but Adebayor was great for us for most of last year (wasn't he third most productive goal/assist rate on Europe or something), when we managed to resign him there was no reason to suppose he would have such a non productive year. The logical choice in August was Adebayor.

Great brain and technically superb but we need a more viable long term solution than Berbatov.

Exactly.

All these threads about getting Modric and Berbs back are nice, but the fact of the matter is simple:

Fuck with Levy, the bridge is burned.

Forever.
Clearly not as we tried to sign him back this summer. But in typical Levy fashion we left it too late.

Abso-fucking-lutely.

This is the most one-sided poll since who should be in goal, Lloris or Friedel...

I would have Berbatov back in a second over Dempsey any day but would he had worked, Im not so sure. Berbatov seems to work well at fulham when they keep the ball and he has people around him to support him, we are struggling to do that with ade tbh. It would probably work and our team is much better than the one he played with but our midfield sits more deeper now whereas before Keane and Steed worked well with him.

We do have a striker problem but we have bigger problems with the way play atm tbh.

Apart from the fact that we were warned by nearly everyone that this would be the case after he gets a permenant contract.

Yep but I think Levy was put off with the sell on value and of course the way he left the club.

Berbs turned down some top clubs in Italy to join Fulham, he wanted to team up with Jol again.

I think Berbatov and Adebayor could have been a brilliant partnership, just like Keane and Berbs was. Berbatov really disliked playing with Defoe if I recall

Same for any job, if you have burnt your bridges when you leave then there is no way back im afraid.

From Berbs side his story is very much like Modric

He says that Levy agreed to sell him on to a top club if the offer was right and that Levy then didn't keep his promise. This caused the sulking.

That something I picked up from people at the club just after he left.

Rewind back to the transfer rumours thread in August and I was one of the few very keen for this to happen. Thing is even at 32 he has years at the top as pace has never been part of his game.
