Should it be considered a massive failure if Liverpool finish above us this season?

Rather them than Chelscum.

Not sure I agree. Chelsea have won the PL in recent seasons, Liverpool haven't and in doing so would be another team putting themselves into the record books before us. Only us and Everton would be left as PL ever presents not to win the thing.

Even that only slightly hides us from our own dismal failings and lack of silverware.

They're fairly quiet now. I grew up in the 80s, when everyone in my class bar two of us supported Liverpool. And they still do; 30-somenthings who every few years pop up with stories about how amazing they are. But back then, it was a daily haunt.
30 years ago they had something to brag about.
They've done fuck all for 10 years now and 26 since a league title.

Yes on the basis that I think they have only finished above us once in 7 years - they had money and rep during this period as well

Doesn't matter who finishes above us tbh as long as we do well which for me is top 3, that's what we got last season so a drop would be disappointing and always should be.

I feel Klopp has come in and had more impact than Poch has had with us, so yeah they are not a bad team, and will finish higher than us.

But we over achieved last season so third is maybe a bit too ambitious for us although we would all take it off course.

They have no midweek football. They are a very good attacking unit but a measly defence. Problem is in this league most points have to be gained by beating parked buses and their attack may be a little more valuable than our defence across a season.

I'm not sure that klopp has done a better job than poch. They have more money to spend and can attract higher calibre players due to wages. Give poch that money and see what he can do...

Tbf the Chavs winning the league again would be preferable to the long awaited (by Liverpool fans but nobody else, of course) coronation of Liverpool.

They'd want a bank holiday created in their honour.

If you consider Liverpool finishing ahead of us a massive failure, what would you call not winning anything for 8 years?

I think they're probably a better side than us at the mo, and they've got a brilliant manager, so it wouldn't be a failure. We shouldn't be worrying about what other teams get up to, anyway. What is essential for us is that we win a trophy and end our poor run of not having won anything for yonks.

Their biggest threat is coutinho who is a game changer and literally world class. If they don't get CL football this year he will fuck off in the summer to someone like Barcelona. Klopp or no Klopp I can't see them struggling to replace such a quality player.

No

to be honest if someone told me 30 odd years ago we would finish above them 6 out of 7 seasons I would of had them committed:ROFLMAO:

with this season being there 1st playing with such intensive pace, the big question will be if they reach the EFL final, and go on a good FA Cup run, will they burnout by April.

we are 4pts a drift and haven't got out of 2nd gear yet, beat Watford on Sunday and we will of gained 4pts more this 1st half of the season more than last, and we have a +3 better GD than we did have last season.

with 20 games to go, a lot can happen.
