Have you seen Foyth play? Who then would ever think he is one to sit back and not cross into the attacking half? He did as a CB! He has every bit of Vertonghen in him to be a great full back in addition to a great CB. Don't forget Jan had that amazing home match against Dortmund when he scored and assisted from LB - MOTM

Foyth has every bit of that in him.

But I do feel for KWP though and rate him. I hope he gets a great loan or playing time some how

I
If the new formation is true then one of the points is that our full backs could be more defensive yes, but I think in the modern game you need attacking full backs that have good pace and very good stamina. Don't get me wrong I trust poch but this could be a gamble.

I think the new plan is to have 2 really pacey CB who peel to the wing when we have the ball, and the full backs tuck into CB. Sure its bold, but it may just work

foyth is nowhere near corluka slow

It’s not all about pace. Corluka was built like an Ox and positionally aware. I remember when he kept a prime quick Ashley Young in his back pocket all game. Foyth on the other hand is still very young, has bundles of promise and all he needs is both experience and to beef up a bit.

With a bit more muscle, improved concentration and ironing out the little rashness, he could be sensational.

I loved corluka, quality player. it's worth saying that foyth has already had significantly better players than young in his pocket.

agree with the above - not so sure about aurier, but certainly faster than trippier. build up real momentum and has good rhythm, in a similar way to vertonghen.

It's much more about pace than it was when Corluka was playing. The game has really changed since those days, and a good measure of pace is practically a requirement for modern FBs/WBs these days. Think Corluka was a great player for us in his time. Don't think he'd even get out out of his own half in the modern game against the better teams; we've been seeing some of the same issue with Trippier.

I'd love Foyth to work out as our RB, but don't see it. Think he can do the job as cover sometimes, but just don't see him as a long-term option. He's more useful as a CB, can still drive forward with a solid CM outfit ahead of him, which we haven't had for a while. Would prefer good, pacy specialist WBs to stretch the park, to constantly open up space for our attacks.

I'm all for this move simply because of his performance at RB at the Etihad last season. Other than the first 4 or 5 minutes, he completely shut Sterling out of the game.

The talk seems to be that both Trippier and Aurier are for sale, and we really haven't been seriously linked with anyone in that position. Haha imagine if the plan is to go with Foyth and KWP for RB next season. That would be quite the change, and be pretty exciting too.

Watching that vid just reassures me that he is not a rb, too slow and too many rash challenges in the area about three of those tackles could be penalties next year with var.

He is a massive prospect and is amazing with interceptions and skill but he is a CB.

He looks class at rb because he is a class player but if i was an opposing manager i would tell my winger to go on the outside every time and he will give penalties away.

If we are playing him rb toby has to be next to him. I would prefer kwp gets a chance there.

I would train him to be a left sided centre back and have rose, davies or even vertonghen at lb and he wouldn't be in a position where he needs to make those rash challenges.

Either way he needs to get at least 25 games next season.

He's not a left-sided centre back. He could be at a push, but he's naturally right-footed. Doesn't make any sense to "train him" to be something he's not; especially when we have options where all our defenders can play to their natural strengths in their strongest positions.
