Bearing in mind the fact that signing Crouch would polarise the fans, as 50 pages of "shit footballer" v. "brilliant signing" demonstrate, one thing that strikes me about Crouch is that he scores in streaks - as does Defoe, incidentally.

If Crouch signs, I really hope he starts getting goals for us from the start, or he's going to have a substantial section of the crowd (the ones who don't have Lee, Gardner or Zokora to scream abuse at anymore) on his back, PDQ.

Based on past form, we can expect him to have at least one long scoring drought over the course of a season. Let's hope it isn't at the start.

At least we can sing "he's got a lovely wife" because she is amazing.

"He's different," said Redknapp. "He holds the ball up. Celtic held the ball up well but we don't do that well enough.

"He gives you an option and he's played for me a few times before. He's always done a job and he's great on set-plays at both ends."

Redknapp believes he can sign either Crouch or Huntelaar, rather than both, with Bent looking to leave. It means the defeat to Celtic, when he missed three opportunities, could be his last for the club.

"Darren is looking to go but it's up to people to make the offer that we want," Redknapp added.

"Nobody misses chances deliberately. He tucked some great chances away in pre-season and he will always score goals. He's a good player but I just want some balance and Crouchy would give us something different."

Like Heskey though David, Crouch is more than a 12 goal a season striker. He is adept at assists and having played with Defoe, the partnership could prove fruitful for both players.

Fact is he will supply alot of goals and alot of assists, and his link up play could do wonders for the likes of Modric and Lennon, maybe even Jenas.. Oh and Defoe of course, we have already seen what a great partnership they have.

I would rather Huuntelaar just because it's a more exciting signing. But i definately wont complain if (when) we get Crouch. Don't forget what a massive asset his height actually is, we have someone to aim at!

Don't even know why I'm bothering to reply to someone who clearly doesn't have a clue but I'll give it a go.

You talk about huge tranfer fee's and wages do you think crouch is coming for free? The same money-grabber who asked for £80k a week from Sunderland? He'll be on a par with our top earners so we're hardly getting a bargain. Also we're paying £10 mill for someone who's 29 in January we won't get our money back on him so again it's hardly shrewd business.

And yes of course I only want Negredo becuase he's foriegn, good argument douche.

I was just using this as an example of Crouch not being a good player, everyone in England know's what he's capable of but no-one apart from Harry and Fulham want him in their team, why is that I wonder?

Genuine question, how many times have you seen Huntelaar and how many times have you seen Negredo. I bet you haven't seen Negredo more than once for a whole match.

It's not that no-one apart from us or Fulham want him, as sunderland proved, it's that right now only a couple of teams outside the top 4 (or indeed in it) could afford to do this deal. I'm not saying they'd all want him but I'm pretty sure that many teams would.

The way i see it is that we should get somone who Harry is happy with and who fits in with his style of play. He knows Crouchie very well - if he thinks he's the right player for us, that's fine by me.

He's a player who will be 80% success which is arguably better than gambling on someone who could be a 90% sucess or a 30% sucess

the guy is cack, he is not a tottenham type of player, just not the tottenham way, buying him is conceding we have no ambition and the board are happy o make some profile and spurs be a mid table team

You think that's what Benitez thought when he bought him? That Liverpool have no ambition and would settle for mid table?

He's fondly remembered there, meaning he was fairly successful. At Liverpool, who are, and have been, a bigger club than us for some time. At least give him a season or two before deciding if he's a 'Spurs player' or not.

My thoughts regarding the signing of Crouch is 50/50.

I really dont rate him but i know he can be very awkward to play against.

But will Spurs need to adjust there whole system to accomodate Crouch.

Lets be honest we never cross balls from the left... I dont count BAE cause he only manages one good cross per game.

Keano drops off to try and pick up ball which is fine but for some reason he seems to like staying around the half way line and not bother helping defoe upfront.

If we sign Crouch will he be the man who drops off or will we need to play long balls up to crouchs chest and assume defoe will work off him.

Overall i believe we still need some more creative players in midfield... Modric is the only player who can unlock defences, which is possibly another reason why our current strikers look flat!

Any thoughts????

Err, yeah.

Crouch has a great touch for a tall man.

hes a target man with half a football brain which makes him a better team player then most target men and he will give the opposition a real worry, they press us and we lump balls up to him they dont press us and modric and lennon will hurt them.
its all about giving us different options and crouch can play the big target man but is also good enough when the ball is played into his feet that he genuinely has a double threat.
hes not perfect but considering striking options that will move to a club who hasnt won any silver apart from carling cup since 1991 and isnt in europe he is the best option we have while still improving the team

My thoughts are at the moment we are easy to defend agaist, we need a forward to drag defenders away to make space for the likes of Modric, Defoe, Keane to work there magic. Defenders are man marking us and the likes of Crouch would change that in a game. At the moment we do look flat i agree but as i say in my opinion crouch would change that.
