I think supporters are entitled to voice their opinions. They are allowed to give praise so should be allowed to criticise also. I don't condone criticising a player simply because someone doesnt like him or he is having a bad game or the team is doing its best but its just not happening but i think its fair enough if someone is not giving 100%.

Supporters make a lot of effort & spend a lot of time & money following a football team & for players to give less than 100% is unacceptable. Losing 4-1 to the likes of Newcastle & Birmingham is not down to players not being good enough or being outplayed by a far superior team its due to a lack of effort & desire & for that they deserve to be criticised be that booing or abuse from the crowd.

The reason King & Keane are 2 players who dont get any abuse is because they give everything in every game. Whether their efforts are effective or not is irrelevent - they will always make the effort & thats the difference

Anyway back to the subject... it's general knowledge that our fans are fickle.

How are you ever supposed to know when someone isn't giving 100%?

You think our own players deserve to be booed or abused if they lose by a few goals to a team we're supposed to be better than? Do you think that helps? Do you want the best for Tottenham and for Tottenham to succeed?

Some people were open minded about it when we were after Jenas and whilst some open minded people have grown to appreciate him, others have gone the other way however, my experience is that the people who are so rabidly against Jenas now are those people who were dead against him from the start, they don't like being proved wrong and they won't admit when they are wrong and against prejudice like that there is nothing you can do.
If these people get their way and Jenas leaves then Keano had better watch his back because all the venom will be piled back onto him again like it was before Jenas got there.

I agree.

Unfortunately for Darren Bent, the same goes for him purely because we paid £16m for him. If we'd paid £3m for him, it might be a little different, but he cost £16m because of just how well he did at Charlton, so ironically if he wasn't as good, he'd have cost less and the fans might have given him more of a chance. I still think he's a top player and has every chance of doing well and becoming a first team regular here given the chance.

BTW there was an opera singer at the game in our end as well!

No score for wearing red boots though, I know he's an arsenal fan, but that's taking the piss. :)

Lennon wears them as well.

They're just the latest colour of them so most of the players who wear them are wearing the red ones now.

It's been the same ever since I can remember, Flatters. Hard as it may be to credit, I heard Bobby Smith get no end of stick—and even Blanchflower.

I heard a lot of people moaning about Jenas too, I thought he had an alright game. I think some fans like to use him as the whipping boy of the team. The fans near me were moaning about Berbatov as well, saying he should have been taken off instead of Keane?!?!

I honestly don't recall players getting really bad verbal abuse back in the 60s, certainly not around the centre line crowd where I stood.

Mind you, we had little to complain about back then.

for sure JJ gets ridiculous abuse - and I'm gald you told me about the people who Berbs off instead of Keane - gives more power to my crusade

so we've got Berbs scored a goal, gave a performance that got MOTM from the Telegraph - dreww massive praise from Steve Bruce

then we've got Keane - set up Wigan's goal with a miscontrol - ineffectual throughout - and they want him on and Berbs off - why wouldn't Berbs want to leave playing in front of fans like that

Also all this 100% stuff - yep Keane runs around waving his arms etc - big deal

so no matter what he does he's okay cos he gives 100% - it's the old Hoddle Ginola debate all over again

people do not have the right to slag off players - for example I'm getting more and more irritated with Keane - but I'd still support him at the game

it'd be better for Spurs if the serial moaners and vicious abusers stayed away

Like at Wigan i just say things as i see it. Daws continually kept pumpin the ball forwards to no one, so i slagged him off for it, but then when he got caught out of position then recovered to make a great tackle i applauded him. As for Berbs i did here people slagging him off but i thought he gave a lot more than he did at Blackburn, he was left, right, deep, taking throw ins. Some fans will always have their favorites, players like Keano and JJ are the Marmite of Spurs

Hi Donny raeacting to a player is natural - we all do it it's part of football - it's the people who bring their agendas against certain players - like JJ and Lee - and give out nasty abuse or serial moaning - that's the problem

It was only a few months ago people were saying how great our support was, how loud and vocal and what a great atmosphere etc etc.

If the players are playing like they don't give a crap – which they have pretty much been doing since the cup, then why shouldn't they get stick. I'm not all for finding scape goats as I think the whole team has sucked recently. but they have been unprofessional and have no pride.

I imagine it's at every club you get moaners, not just tottenham. It's easy not to moan if your Man u as your successful.

fans being fickle about fans
