Our "Supporters"

I've just got home from the Wigan game, and once again I'm appalled at how unsupportive many of our "supporters" are. Most of the fans sat around me were just moaning for the entire game. Most of them were just singling out Jenas as usual. He didn't have a very good game, but they were clearly biast against him as they were blaming him for things that had nothing to do with him. I even heard one "fan" just generally say "oh piss off Tottenham". Why do they bother going to games if they're just gonna moan at everything?

Of course, they still love Robbie Keane for some reason. He seems to be the only player who can do no wrong in their eyes. It's probably the main reason I have anything against him really, because all the ****s adore him and hate everyone else.

I'm disappointed that it wasn't just a one-off that there were so many fans around me like this today. It's been like this far too much, and it's making me think twice about going to Tottenham games now.

I don't think our priority in the summer should be to get a goalkeeper or midfielders. I think we need some new supporters.

It was very similiar when I went to watch us play Sheff Utd away last season. Although that day I think Robbo got most of the stick.

Been to six games this season and I can hear it going on. Was right in the middle of a whole bunch of them in Paxton lower for the cup game against Reading (2-2). Granted, we didn't play well that day, but there were so many times the people around me (season ticket holders as well, they all seemed to know each other) were screaming insults it was unreal.

great post Flatters - one of the main reasons I rareley go to games anymore is our 'supporters' - even in the 60s we had too many moaners (I'll never forget the terrible treatment Venables & Mullery received amongst others)

but I wa young then and able to stay starry-eyed but by the 90s things were appalling the infamous Armstrong treatment for example - now it seems as bad as ever

JJ again had a decent game (from TV pics anyay)

he was better than Keane that's for sure and I've other threads questioning the veneration of RK on here today

how will a new stadium help with such moaning supporters?

apparently in the 50s we had really good fans - I do think the golden period of 60-63 gave many spurs fans unrealistic ambitions and we've suffered ever since from them

I go to most away games as well as all home games and the amount if shit JJ gets makes me sick. I actually nearly came to blows with a prick sitting in front of me last season after I couldn't take the shit he was spouting at JJ anymore. Around where i sit JJ is the scapegoat for anything and everything it's sickening, I've even heard him blamed for things when he hasn't been playing.

And as Flatters rightly says Keane is treated as almost god like and every fuck up and wimping out of challenges is ignored whilst other players are targets of non stop abuse.

couple of weeks back was in paxton lower, few seets from the front and when one of our boys came over to take a corner, some bloke near us was screaming out, 'you gonna put in a f**king decent cross today' and was constantly telling various players how sh*t they were and even had the cheek out one point whilst slagging off berbatov, to claim he was a better player than he was..
in the end my old man and many other regulars around us had enough and he got himself an earful! i dunno why they turn up

well said Legend :) - i tell you there are a lot of us getting really fed up with the 'RK' fan club - I still think of Robbie as a legend but I remember Bus Conductor's 'strident' comments on him over the years and just as he was right about Robbo and not far out on Daws, after Keano's recent performnaces which have been way worse than JJ's, I'm starting to see that he may not be far wrong on Robbie either

dont you think someone who takes the trouble to travel to Wigan should expect a better effort than what was given today? the team has been phoning it in since the Carling cup.

To be fair, as well, I only have a go at Didier Zokora because I don't really like him.

It's not personal.

hi FW it was actually a very good game - I'd go so far as to say tremendous - one reporter on News Now called it a classic-

how far you want to praise it is up to individuals of course but I guarantee it was far better than most prem games - incidentally way better than the Chelsea Everton game

and I remember how praised up the first half of the Chelsea arsenal game got by sky - well this was way better than tht

fact is lots of spurs fans just love moaning - trust me I've been to the Lane in seasons where we've finished 3rd and won the lge Cup (70-71) and still the moaners were out in force that season

Your moaning about people moaning.

Yep, well done.

Do you think the supporters should call players shit and tell them to fuck off if they're not playing well? I'm not sure that helps very much personally.

By the way, I'd just like to make it clear before anyone has a go at me that I'm not having a go at Robbie Keane at all in this thread. Just that I can't understand why all the ****s think he's a god when they think all our other players including Berba are shit. (That's for Dougal's sake mainly :-D)

Hi TCO - obviously this is partly tongue in cheek by you I assume :) - but there's a lot of truth too -

however it's also the unfortunate legacy of our golden years - 60-63 - which are totally out of character with the rest of our history trophy wise both for quantity and quaity of trophies and lge positions - but somehow a lot of people think it is what we should be doing most decades - it won't happen folks :)

No, I dont. And I'm watching from my living room in Texas, so I dont see the behavior you're talking about. Still, I think fans can see that many of the players have given up for the season. I fell asleep on my couch in the second half.

I also went to Wigan, and heard little criticism of Jenas. In fact Jenas, Bebatov, Lennon and Hutton had decent performances. Keane was shit, doing his normal jumping out of tackles, half hearted attempts to challenge headers and his lack of pace is starting to massively show.

My worry is that with all the hype surrounding Ramos, we are no better under him than with Jol. Why oh why is he not giving the youngsters a run?

Todays performance was symptomatic off our season. Really good start and in control of the match, score a good goal. Then give away a goal due to sloppy defensive work and then in the second half the whole team completely disappear. The following stat bear this out.

Taken the lead in 22 matches, and gone on to win only 10 of them. Also, lost the advantage an unequalled 13 times this season, and dropped an unmatched 33 points from games in which they were in front (drawn eight, lost five).

I would say it was only an open match due to the complete lack of any defensive quality in both sides and only the inability of both sides to put it's chances away prevent more goals being scored. The second half didn't make for pleasant viewing as far as I was concerned. We played poorly second half and were a bit lucky to come away with a draw.
