i dont because if i was a player and i heard things like that i wouldnt have the right focus on the game. But with pro's it might be a bit different i dont know. I leave my opinions for the journey back.

That's good to hear, and I agree. I'd be much more likely to play better if I heard fans encouraging me. If I heard fans slating me, it would really put me off and I'm not sure I'd even want to try harder. It depends on the person though, but I'm sure the majority of people would respond as I've said I would.

One survey had Spurs fans as the 2nd noisiest behind Sunderland fans. So we can't be all that bad.

While a bit of verbal is no harm if the player isn't making an effort but then unfortunately some take it to the stage where it ceases to be productive.

Confidence is big thing in normal life and more so in football. Consistent abuse of a player should be considered to be Anti-Spurs and offenders should be told so.

Supporters should support.

In my opinion and it's only my opinion before people jump on my back, that if you pay your hard earned cash and follow your team around the country and all over Europe then you have every right to shout, swear, say whatever you blooming well like if they are underperforming and not showing any signs of giving a damn! These players pick up more money in a week than most of us earn in 2/3 years, so i'm sure that being called names and taking stick when they are not putting in the effort is justified!

Do you think it helps them if you do that?

Well on the flipside of that should we cheer them?
After the long journey and money spent i think the least the players should be doing is putting in the effort and i'm sure if i was doing a crap job at my workplace my manager would be letting me know.

well g88 I don't think you're helping the team at all - but it's your choice

one problem with a lot of fans is they spend their time jeering & abusing perfectly good players like JJ - so not only are they unhellpful to the team they haven't got a clue what they're talking about

a real double whammy against spurs there I reckon

PS if you weren't doing a crap job and yet your manager kept shouting at you what would you think of him ?

Resentment in football is on the increase with rising prices and rising wages. Unfortunately this come into it. If we were back in the 50s and they were getting tuppence it would be less so I'm sure.

But I guess it ticks peoplem off when people see a 21 year old who's on 40k per week not bother to chase a ball after he's lost it - that's just laziness, not a lack of encouragement.

good points Kendall - but this frustration just needlessly poisions the atmosphere so often - spoiling it for other supporters

re the chasing back - sometimes you'll see Berbs lose the ball - he often/usually won't chase back if he can't get it - and that's for a good reason - he's conserving his energy for his chief role - scoring and creating goals

Alright then... do you want the best for Tottenham? Unless you really believe that shouting and swearing at the players doesn't hinder them in any way, which I sincerely doubt you do, you're anti-supporting Tottenham.

Maybe mate, maybe, I don't disagree.. but in a team noted for it's poor defencive organisation - everyone should 'muck in' imo, especially wingers (I'm looking at you Lenny).

While I agree it's shit to have a group of supporters who shout and berate, I have to admit to letting out several groans at the weekend - usually at Dawson's shitty balls forward.

Well do you really think the team are doing a good job at the moment? I beg to differ!

Certain players are not pulling thier weight and i really don't think i need to name them, but i am a fair supporter and i wouldnt just jump on the back of any player not having a good game, i mean take O'hara and Zokora for instance at Wigan i felt sorry for them as they were both out of position but got on with the job as required, and i take my hat off to them for that

Is your point about being just at games flatters?

would you consider your berating of defoe unsupportive of spurs? or does it only matter on a matchday?

Of course i want the best for Tottenham but i also want the players to want the best for Tottenham and they are getting paid ridiculous money to do so and i feel a bit of effort in a game that yes has no real meaning on our season is not too much to ask?!

fair points Kendall - and as I and many others have said there's nowt wrong with groaning moaning whatever when a player **** up - why i've even criticised St Berbs and Jenas in my time :)

what a lot of us don't want though is prejudiced systematic abuse of players regardless of whether they do right or wrong

the case of the fan who refused to clap the injured JJ with his remark which I won't repeat being a prime example

Is there someone forcing you to travel and spend money to go and give your shit support to the team?
No?
Therefore use your free will and stay at home because then you definitely would be helping the future of this club!

You're not going about it in a way that suggests you do want the best for Tottenham. In fact, you're hindering Tottenham if anything. I doubt you're even able to tell when a player's not putting in the effort, as opposed to giving his all and just not having the luck, or just his style of play like Berba.

What defines shit support then mr mouthy? I support Tottenham everywhere Europe, away and at home week in week out and, i get behind the team like everyone else and i merley stated that with all the money supporters spend travelling that they have as much right to air their views out load at certain players when they are not pulling their weight.........
So please are you going to tell me you have never shouted out at a spurs player in an angry way?....

Oh okay my mistake i will make sure the next time certain players are not putting in the effort then i will cheer and clap them, god forbid we should ever make them aware that they are not pulling thier weight!
To say you doubt if i would know who was putting in the effort and who wasnt is comical, what makes you the expert?
Peole have different opinions and i'm airing mine so deal with it

I don't mean I know and you don't. I mean none of us know, so we shouldn't assume the worst. It just depends to what extent you go about it.I think it's fine to vent your frustration in a general sense and shout at them to "come on!" or something, but not to call them names or tell them to fuck off.
