This is nuts. Although I did check Transfermarkt and this would be only their third player in the top 20 this window (by fee). Without looking, tell me the only club that currently has three of the top 20 most expensive transfers by fee this summer.
got to be the gooners?

As Barca is my 2nd team I'm very happy with this. Great signing for them. No idea what will happen with their finances in future but if Inter are any indication they'll probably still be fine.

I'm wondering where he will play though. Will Araujo move to left centre back with Kounde to his right? I haven't seen him that side before, Pique usually plays left of Araujo and Garcia as backup that side (even Lenglet on occasion). If Araujo can play in the Pique role those 2 could be a good partnership. Unless they plan to play Kounde right back with Christensen alongside Araujo.

Hopefully. Do they want gil or lo celso too lol
They wanted Sanchez last season and there were rumours Sevilla had accepted a cash plus player deal but Kounde understandably didn't want Spurs, so perhaps they make a move for him as well.

Can we sell Sanchez now though if tanganga is going? It’ll leave us a CB short.

I'd do it. Plenty of RCB options out there. We need a CB anyway so i'd keep Rodon, sign a top RCB and with injuries they or Romero can move over to the centre.

I would get it if they were in genuine danger, but even with a disastrous start last season they still comfortably finished second and have some big talents coming through in Gavi, Pedri, Fati etc.

They could've been smart, consolidated and made some cheaper signings for the future to complement their youth talents. They might have struggled to beat Real to the title or get to the late stages of the CL but they could've made themselves sustainable and started to work off their mammoth debts.

Instead they're dropping mega fees on old players and ones they don't strictly need (why re-sign Dembele AND get Raphinha?!l). They basically can't stand not to be challenging for the CL and making statement signings every year, so they're mortgaging their future for some shiny toys and gambling they will win everything and get enough sponsorship to ride it out. The CL is way too unpredictable though - the potential upside of these signings just isn't worth anything like the risk they're taking by selling off their future income.

Totally agree. It's complete madness. Nothing is worth giving up 25% of future TV income for.

Regardless of who they've signed I still don't even have them in the top 3-5 favourites for CL.

He didn't cover himself in glory last week against them.

I wouldn't write them off though, I think Xavi is a very capable manager.

Spanish Journalist on SSN also saying that in the last hours he thinks Kounde is going Barcelona.

Info seems to be coming from Barca’s side. They seem convinced Kounde wants them. Very similar situation to Raphinha.

Chelsea USED to screw us but those days are gone.
it's beginning to look that Boehly may have underestimated the transfer system in football and it's not as easy as he thought it would be.

Skriniar is totally different to Kounde though so unless they just want a high profile defender I'm not so sure
Gvardiol probably something they would have done under Roman and then worry about where he fits after (maybe Koulibaly can play CCB?)

I'm not too fussed about Chelsea going for a centre back because I do feel they should be going for a right centre back. We just need a central centre back, if anything we may get another left centre back (judging by who we've been linked with). I've not seen them linked to many of our targets, I get the feeling we're still after Bastoni but could fall back on Torres. I doubt Chelsea will look at either.
