Also want it to be true, but how the hell are Barca affording all these players?
I think it’s been covered at length in the Raphina thread, but they’ve sold part of their future tv income for the next 10 years for an immediate cash injection.

In short, they are selling TV rights for the next years now to allow them to go around spanish FFP rules and have funds for players now, basically speculating on on the pitch success to make that work.

They just drew they 3rd economic lever
2nd. But they may go for the 3rd next month.

Haha please be true. Kimpembe is probably their plan B and he's nowhere near as good as Kounde.

I will not laugh very much if it turns out Barca sign Raphina from arsenals grasp and Kounde does a Willian and goes to barca

This just means Chelsea will move onto their next target, which will probably also be one of ours.
Nah, they’ve signed a lcb so it’s a rcb they want now. We aren’t really targeting those from what I’ve seen. Plus, they’ll move on to kimpembe which we have not targeted

They stole raphinha from Chelsea’s grasp too. They had agreed everything with him then Barca snatched him

Hopefully if Sevilla get £50m - £60m for Kounde they will make a realistic offer to take Reguilón off us if he is not in Conte's plans.
Yeah apparently Regi is top of their list of signings so this could be absolutely perfect for us. Chelsea gazumped again for a great player and we can move on a player Conte wants out for a decent fee.

I can't find the original source so won't post the tweet but one of the aggregators has Gérard romero saying barca will also try for reguilon if they cant get Alonso from Chelsea. (I can't see Chelsea wanting to sell them a player after they have stolen raphinha and kounde from under their noses)

Romero has recently done a few live twitch streams talking about barca transfers so the original source may be that.

Christ, even with all the lever stuff, dropping another ~30mil for Regi on top of Kounde would be pretty wild.

Am happy for Barca to help us out in the short term with this reckless spending, but they're gonna get so fucked for this in a few years time. They're killing the future of their club to have one great window...it's just so shortsighted and stupid.

It's good for us as the longer this goes on the less time they will have to settle in their defence by the time we play them.

This is nuts. Although I did check Transfermarkt and this would be only their third player in the top 20 this window (by fee). Without looking, tell me the only club that currently has three of the top 20 most expensive transfers by fee this summer.

It’s not even one great window. They had a poor season last year but have been on a downward trajectory basically because they aren’t churning out the next Xavi, Iniesta or Messi from La Maisa and the signings have been more miss than hit (please remember they signed Martin Braithwaite then just didn’t play him).

They’re gambling their future because if they don’t, they think they’ll get left behind.

I would get it if they were in genuine danger, but even with a disastrous start last season they still comfortably finished second and have some big talents coming through in Gavi, Pedri, Fati etc.

They could've been smart, consolidated and made some cheaper signings for the future to complement their youth talents. They might have struggled to beat Real to the title or get to the late stages of the CL but they could've made themselves sustainable and started to work off their mammoth debts.

Instead they're dropping mega fees on old players and ones they don't strictly need (why re-sign Dembele AND get Raphinha?!l). They basically can't stand not to be challenging for the CL and making statement signings every year, so they're mortgaging their future for some shiny toys and gambling they will win everything and get enough sponsorship to ride it out. The CL is way too unpredictable though - the potential upside of these signings just isn't worth anything like the risk they're taking by selling off their future income.
