Come on be honest, who couldnt watch the penalties? I had to go up stairs with my headphones on blasting music for the few minutes it was on. I just couldnt bear it. Anyone else?
The words "not Zokora" my have been formed by my lips - but I watched it all. When I went round a mate's for the CC final, none of them could watch the penalty. They all did a 'Zokora' and turned the other way, only to look at me jump for joy as I saw it fly in the bottom corner.
One smart-alec decided they were all Zokoras and I was Robbo, which led my Spammer mate to say something about me being a fat ****. I put the curly-haired, pigeon-chested abhomination of a man in his place. Spammer ****.
I really felt confident JJ was gonna bury that final penalty....when it was saved....I knew we we're in the shit and the game had shifted. The crowd we're lifted and our players looked deflated. PSV we're always gonna go on and win for me from that point on and I felt resigned to it.
Hey.....I follow England so I'm at least used to the pain a penalty defeat brings
I watched them all. I made the fatal mistake of rushing into the bathroom and telling my girlfriend (in the bath) that it was Jenas's turn to take a penalty and if he scored, we would win. He missed, of course.
Chimbonda's was the oddest penalty ever. He seemed to be limping before he took it. I think he's so used to falling over theatrically in stressful situations that his subconscious took over and he was attempting some kind of dive/feigned injury despite the fact that no-one was near him. As soon as I saw him walk up to the ball, I knew he'd miss. I also assumed that Zokora would miss, but fair play to him, he proved me wrong.
I know that everyone says that penalties are a lottery and that we shouldn't blame players who miss, but it must be said that Jenas took a piss-poor penalty. Soft and just the right height for the keeper. He really did f**k up.
The only one I didn't watch was JJ's. I had to watch Zoko's just to witness a historical moment. Then I saw Chimbo walk forward and just knew it was all over.
I watched them all, Mrs had to leave the room.
Thought we were out when Zoko stepped up but what a DAM fine penatly, when Chimbs stepped up i knew it was over just his body language gave it away.
Yes, I saw the PSV player stamp on his ankle. But he played on and didn't seem to be limping, so it seemed like a strange time to suddenly start limping. It was almost as if he feared he would miss the penalty so he wanted to make sure everyone knew he was injured so he'd have an excuse ready.
I can't blame him. Once Jenas missed, the pressure was really on.
Chimbonda's limp was actually his gangster limp.
He was trying to psych out their goalkeeper by showing his display of gangster in his walk.
If you were there you would also have heard the kiss of his teeth too and probably the word 'blood clot' or something similiar.
