Watched them all. All be it with my hands scraping down my face, which I seem to do in all stressful Tottenham situations i'm told!

I also shouted 'not Zokora, anybody but him!' The only one I was confident about was Berbs. I could just see poor O'Hara crying again as he stepped up, but I love the kid for having the bottle and getting it right, if only by the smallest of margins.

How many people just knew from the way that Gomes was clowning around that he would be the hero? I did! Knob. This I said alot. I was also negative about all Spurs takers (apart from Berbs) as it seemed to work and they then scored. So when Chimbo stepped up and I said 'he doesn't give a shit, the money grabbing twat!', I then felt a tad guilty for not supporting him.

Don't know if it was just me, but I felt there was a big difference in the attitude of the keepers. Fair play, you can't blame Robbo, he did save one. But Gomes just looked like he was revelling in it and Robbo just wanted to be somewhere else. I don't understand why the keeper would be nervous- they can only be the hero in that situation!

and where the frig were Lennon and Steed for the pennies? In fact, where was Lennon for the entire time he was supposed to be on the pitch (but that's another matter). Zoko and Chimbonda before them though? Ridiculous. Granted I probably wouldn't back Lennon, but i'd fancy Steed to have tucked one away.

Robbo just isn't the type Spinders. He clowns around with the fans, but he isn't the Grobelaar type of keepers who tries to out pysche the opposition - maybe that's a development for him?

But don't forget, Gomes only saved 1 just like Robbo

I watched but had a pillow to my face as though I was not going to watch but couldn't bring myself not to watch. Does that make sense?

Spent the whole match flicking between different streams as we don't have Channel 5 in this country. Eventually found a reasonable one from a Dutch TV station. Except at 1-1 on penalties it decided to go tits up, got it reloaded in time to see Zokora take his penalty, and even then it wasn't great so it was a mixture of bricking it for what I did see and cursing and swearing at what I was missing.

Damn internet streaming.

True dat, but he did get close to a couple and was very close to keeping O'Hara's out. Besides Robbo's save, he just crumbled the wrong way. Sorry, i'm not blaming him, you can't really balme people on pennies, but I definitely thought it highlighted a mental problem with Robbo's game. Arguably something that hinders Robbo's all round performance. He was such a good keeper until he came under the spotlight with England at a world cup. He just seems to lack any kind of dominance that all great keepers have in bucketloads- Schmeichel, Cech, Kahn, etc.

Yeah, watched them all.

It's like watching a car-wreck unfold before your eyes; it's completely horrific, but you can't look away.

Anyone know if Zoko's goal counts in the 'goals this season' tally, or are penalty shootout goals not added to the stats?

This is really sad, but.......

One of my mates was telling me that a team that wins a penalty shoot-out, isn't said to have won the leg, but instead to have "progressed through to the next round on penalties".

This way, when it comes to working out coefficients, team winning/losing streaks, games decided by penalties aren't taken into account.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Does anyone care?

watched them no probs - I've seen us win the UEFA on pens - seen England lose world cup/euros semis/quarters on pens - it was a massive evening but shoot outs are part of football these days

I am the type that wants to look away but can't.
When i watch on tele or listen on radio i sometimes turn it off in disgust if we're losing but i always turn it back on 2 mins later when i realise that mathematically it is possible to score 4 goals in the last 5 mins.

I watched them all expecting them all to miss. So I was pleasently suprised 5 times

I so wanted Robbo to take 1.

When he was at Leeds he scored in a penalty shoot out and strikes the ball better than anybody.

Back to the point, I watched them all and actually felt very confident that we would win. As an aside I thought Hudds penalty was awesome.

 so true.

Never though we'd win penalties to be honest, especial after the 1st 5 had gone because all that's left is the people who don't wanna take them.

Though JJ's was good pen but matched by a better save.

Chimbs, well its just one of those nights unfortunately. did drag it wide but if it had been a foot to the right, keeper had no chance.

That clowing about that Gomez was up to - pschcing up the crowd etc also definitely had an effect on noe or two of our players. Jenas looked like a frightened rabbit.

and of course JD popped in a peno last night for Pompey.

I, like many others knew the game was up, the larger than life figure of Gomez had glory and destiny in his hands last night, right from the off.

Nevermind.
