Lol, if you put bias aside you'll clearly see how the protection from the frontman and midfield was so weak, I noticed Bentaleb try to make tackle stoke player but missed the target but hit referee instead lol then he just jogging and ball watching like nothing to care about, Stoke just have a free run past, even the world class defender will get the hard time with our team lol, credit to Stoke too they know how weak our pressing, sometimes I miss the time when we have player like Sandro always give more heart 100% every chances and you look at some players we have like Nabil he just sub in for last 20 minutes but look like don't have energy left already, pathetic. And I feel it game of who I like here nothing new from you at all, same as me too Lol.

i'm not absolving bentaleb of any blame, he was slacking too and i have no idea what's happened to him but that goal is 95% on vertonghen. it's not like diouf has made a blind-side run and beaten him to it, he's with him the whole time and just watches it all happen.

Davies and Vertonghen clearly had a massive issue with people getting in between them for crosses. Such a lack of communication and positioning. Yes sometimes a player will get in between markers, not every fucking time. It was so obvious, that I laughed hard at people claiming Vertonghen had a good game.

A lack of communication amongst the back four is a problem we've had for 3 seasons irrespective of who's playing and who's managing.
It's fkin staggering that its not addressed at the top level.
It's as if these coaches are clueless.
Oh wait..

- Everyone know Stoke is number one in the air, every PL club know that well.
- And we all know the problems of our team pressing, lack of protections from front man, cm so weak and soft.

from above circumstances it was very lucky we just concede 2 goals from free 6-7 headers, try to blame only Jan and Toby just wrong for me. Even the Best defender with good head and position will be get trouble for sure with our team set up like this.

That's a defenders CB job though is to deal with shit like crosses into the area box. Vertonghen is way toooo passive.

I thought our cm played well and shouldn't be blamed for Stokes second goal

When you get a moment look at Vertonghens position and reaction to Stokes equalising goal.

As a CB you can't be happy with that.

The awarness of some of our defenders are really poor. And out fullbacks are not the best at blocking crosses.

How people think that was a good performance is beyond me. FFS Stoke had way more clear cut chances than we did.

Do you think Pooch actually works on defending, I can't see it myself, it was the same for most games last year, every team we played had chances against us. I can see him as a you score 2, we will score 3 kind of manager, If he is, then we will never be any good. I think he needs to employ a defence coach.

Neither are the type who are big enough to deal with a big target man like Diouf. They're good with their feet and quick enough for centre backs, and would do well against strikers who like the ball played along the ground.

This is why I often like defensive partnerships that have a big man and a more techincal player as you're getting a more complete package. I'm not convinced by Fazio though, although he did have some good games and isn't so easy to beat in the air. To be honest, I think we should've gone in for Winston Reid. He may not be a fancy name but he has experience, is consistent and is very good in the air.

And plays for New Zealand.

Poch was an international defender.

As bad as Jan's part in that was Bentaleb strolling back makes me more angry because it's not what he's about.

Does the cross deflect of Walker for certain?

Wow pathetic from Vertonghen. He's the only mainstay in the back 4 over the past few seasons, and we're seeing the same awful defending and soft goals conceded. Coincidence? Hmm

we do concede a lot from crosses dont we. so poor marking.

also not good at stopping crosses coming in. hardly anything from our left yesterday, all from the right, with support for walker non existent.

dembele played well but was popping up more centrally, but the other two, or three including lamela, did not press at all in the last half hour.

poch could have tried something more radical, like trippier and walker together. he did not respondto hughes initiative, letvalone set the agenda.

Or possibly 7, I lost count.

What is that about? Obviously a deeply unsuccessful combination between Jan and Toby, neither marking properly and communication not there.

But this is perennial. It seems whoever Vertonghen plays with, the opposition get free headers in our box. Is it him, is it the formation...? Lack of dm? We are just so easy to create chances against it really is an absolute joke.

Toby joined a few weeks ago but this shit is perenial... fuck toby for ruining our defence for years!!!!!

but that goal is 95% on vertonghen.

So 5% lies at the feet of the other useless fuckers who allowed men time on the ball?? Time to pick out a pass? Time to receive the ball to feet and then the time to turn face our goal and pick out another easy pass??

Bollocks.

jan strolling again, just doesn't have the instincts of a natural defender.
So ridiculous that neither of them took responsibility for the one forward they had to deal with. Toby did seem oblivious to him too. And Walker once again did not close out the crosser of the ball. He seems to move in tight then mistakenly believes he can recover position with his pace... Except most teams have worked out that early balls in expose that we're out of shape and just tracking back rather than picking up the oppo attackers.

I'm still waiting to see Poch's so called philosophy, because if it's there I'm struggling to see it.. Our play is ponderous, laboured, predictable and lacks any kind of explosive change.. We have a team of nice neat players without any direction.. He has been given a remarkable level of slack, which cannot continue if performance remain as inept and turgid as they currently are
