Ade has contributed more than most of the others put together in half as much time.

Adebayor has done his usual thing of having a purple patch after someone pandered to his ego (or a new contract was on offer). A purple patch which seems to be drying up at the moment.

That doesn't mean he hasn't contributed more than other players have managed all season but all that really reflects is how shite some of our players have been.

To my mind he certainly isn't even close to player of the season.

I said Walker in January. Now its Walker plus Ade and Lloris now in contention. If we were basing on 2014 alone, Naughton would be right up there!!

Purely measured in terms of his contribution on the pitch in the games that he's played...he's very close to being our player of the season.

Lloris
Adebayor
Walker
Eriksen

in that order. The rest can gtfo, no others even close to being in contention, and I am only adding Eriksen because .... i don't know. Because of potential i guess.

You can't limit it to his contribution in the games that he's played though.

Across the season as a whole his contribution hasn't been enough. That's because he didn't play half the season and he's now started tailing off again. Whether he didn't play the first half of the season because of his usual attitude problems or AVBs inflexibility I don't know but he basically had a 0 contribution for the first X games.

If it was a 'player of the first 10 games after AVB was sacked' award then I'd agree with you.

Has he? I think his play has generally been good, even when not scoring.

I get your point about him not having played loads of games, but my view is that the other players haven't done enough in the additional games they've had to warrant praise ahead of him.

Suprised by so many calls for walker - he frustrates me as much as Andros for lacking a clue about what to do when he gets a ball at his feet!

I think Lloris is a fair shout but how sad is it when your outstanding player of the year is a keeper - just goes to show the standard we've had this year.

Ade has been good in 2014 but he literally was nowhere to be seen in 2013 so it would be difficult to select him and Eriksen has chipped in with some match winning goals and performances but then again not enough and not consistantly enough.

Writing the summary of the season is a bit early but honestly it has been a disapointment. We changed managers again (still not really sure why) and players that were going to push us into the top 4 have failed to deliver on those expectations (Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho). Looking back to the Palace game at the start of the season we saw a clunky 0-1 with Soldado getting the first of many and Capoue looking to be the buy of the summer - the result was ok as all newly promoted teams are tough in the first few weeks, suprise element etc. Turned out we would struggle to score all season.

I don't know what it is but things just haven't felt right all season, we'll still finish in the top 6 which is a good result as we are in reality a mid-table club performing well. But the last 5 years have started to make us feel like we are one of the big boys and with that comes the dissapointment of not reaching our newly aquired targets. I would love us to win 5 or 5 of the last 8 and put a good score on the table but for a number of reasons that hope and positivity from the last 4 or 5 years has completely gone this season for me. I really hope i can get it back next season and really enjoy my football again.

Kyle Naughton.
Personally I don't think his good enough to be first choice but having played both right and left back without moaning he's got my respect, he has been torn apart in some games as limited as he might be, continues to burst a gut to do his best when other heads have dropped Naughton is made of the right stuff.

Bit early yet.
Lloris could go to pieces
and Eriksen continue to be our only hope of some creativity.
Ade has saved both ours and Tim's bacon.
But for Dawson we would be deep in the shit at times.
Walker has been steadier, Naughton steadily improving.
They're bunching at Tattenham corner.
Lloris Ade and Eriksen for me at he moment.
But that's betting in play not on the result.

Walker pre Sherwood. Ade post Sherwood.

Lloris is probably the most consistent though over the whole period (seeing as Ade wasn't even playing!). Although even he has been unconvincing at times recently.

So, on balance, Lloris.

Lloris has made a fair amount of mistakes this season, shows how awful we've been this season that he is a contender for player of season. I'd give it to Walker on the whole he's been good apart from the odd brain-fart, he still has made less mistakes than Lloris, Adebayor 2nd, then Hugo... God it's depressing when our player of the season is awarded for being less crap than everyone else.

Dawson. His record is actually very good. Were better with him than without. People don't give him credit where they should do. For me, this club would be nothing without the guy. A true legend of the game. By far and away the most deserving candidate this year.

You know your season has been shit when Naughton, your second choice RB(who hasn't even overtaken the first choice RB), is mentioned more than once as a candidate for Player of the year!
