Harry has continued where he left off last season & Alli has been a sensation in his first season in the Premier League.
Then you also have Eric Lemela who has improved again and Mousa Dembele who is becoming the player we hoped he would be. Hugo Lloris who is world class and has made a number of important saves throughout the season.

But it's Toby Alderweireld for me, with Eric Dier a close second. The difference these two have made to our defense is amazing...from one of the worst to the BEST!!

I can't really decide yet between Toby, Dier & Dembele.. they have all been equally brilliant & important to our season

Went with Toby, I genuinely can't think of a bad game he's had or one where he's gone missing, the others have a had a couple of those. Added to how much stronger we look as a defensive unit when he's playing I therefore chose alderweireld.

Toby.

I think I've only seen him make 1 bad mistake (Stoke on his debut) and a couple of little mistakes in the entire season.

Rare to find a defender who is so good at defending, but also great on the ball. Scores goals as well.

Watching him live every week at close quarters makes you appreciate him even more. So calm and makes the right decision 99 times out of 100.

I picked Toby, but I've rethought my decision a lot. Mason and Bentaleb are flat out terrible at tracking runners. Last season I think our defense conceded more than they should because they were often dealing with too many free runners. I think Alderweireld has been a PART of a total overhaul that sees Dembele adding stability to the midfield, Dier adding a ton of defensive protection, and both full backs fully understanding their role (and staying fit).

I think Wimmer did a great job, but being able to slot in so easily is either a sign of a future star or of a unit that is so well drilled that missing one player doesn't totally blow it up.

The more I think about it, the more I want to choose Dier.

I can't believe how wide the margin of Toby's lead is for this

While I agree and voted for him myself, there are so many others who've been excellent this season and it really seemed to me like a close call between 5-6 players, so I'd have expected the vote to be a lot more widely spread

Toby's lead looks more like what I would have expected to see during Bale's last season where he was head and shoulders above the rest

What is so great about this team is the fact that it is a team, a solid unit without stand out individual players as such (despite there being several excellent players) and more of a slick cohesive unit that fit and a compliment one another

I'm happy to see Toby get the recognition from our fans because I personally agree he has been our player of the season but the poll results make it look like he's been our superstar above and beyond everyone else where as in reality I think there is a fag paper between him and several other top performers all deserving of the honour

Toby for me. Dembele has been brilliant, but the difference Toby has made to our team is astonishing

It's just nice to have 5 or 6 names that deserve to be in the mix! I think a case could be made for Lloris, Rose, Toby, Dembele, Dier, Alli, Eriksen and Kane! Honourable mentions to Walker, Jan and Lamela...what a squad!

Toby. I never thought we would replace Ledley King at the back, at least not in a long time. However Toby has given us the solidity we've been crying out for. He makes Vertonghen and Wimmer play better too. His overall influence on the team has been exceptional.

Says a lot that in a season where Kane has scored more goals than Bale, Berba or Jurgen did, he isn't really getting a look in in terms of votes!

Toby for me, then Dier, then Harry. A real tough call.

What a wonderful season it's been...

I gave mine to Kane. His goals have been pivotal and in his second season has improved his all round game.
Could argue for lots of players though.

I was chuffed when we got Toby but never expected him to be this good.
Lamela has become crucial to us.
Eriksen has been great with the assists and some absolutely crucial goals
Dembele has been the player we all knew he could be
Verts back to to the first season verts
Hugo has been Hugo (we are so so lucky to have a keeper of that quality)
Rose has been arguably the best left back in the PL this year
Alli- what a season, to step up from league 1 and perform like he has at 19 is ridiculous.

All of those have got a good shout but for me it has to be Harry. His 2nd consecutive 20 goal + season puts him in the same company as Rooney, Drogba, Van Persie etc (only Henry, Ferdinand, Van Nistlerooy and Shearer have done it more than 2 times) and is a truly stunning achievement. That and a bit of home grown bias gets my vote.
