I can't decide. I've never had that problem before. What a great season!

Toby, by a mile.

Look at that defensive record with the same other players around him. Played the most minutes. Everything good we've done is built on him. Insanely good bit of business.

Some outstanding seasons tho. Rose, Dier, Kane, Dembele

I struggled over Toby and Kane. I almost went Toby for a lot of reasons, I think he has been an incredibel signing especially when I thought there was no need to sign him. He has been class and is a rock and has no doubt contributed to our incredibly sold defence in his first season. However I think all our defence has been great and it may also be down to the change of formation and someone protecting them, not ignoring the fact Toby may be a reason our back for has been so good, but he doesn't shoulder the responsibility alone

I went for Kane though as I think goal scoring is as important or more important than preventing goals. He also is a one man band essentially tucking away these goals and has had to deal with questions and untold pressure at the start of the season. People all thought he would be a one season wonder, and he was also the only striker we had so knew he had to work, After 8 games everyone got onto him even some of our own fans, but he dealt with the pressure, he dealt with people knowing his game and extra attention and dealt with the responsibility, to score even more goals in the league than the previous season at the age of 22 an amazing feat.

I next went for Dembele, then I think Rose who started shakily but again just regularly puts in top displays and is not to be messed with. I think he is one of the poster boys for this new look Spurs side I'm so pleased for him to receive an England cap and hopefully go to the Euros. Shout to Dier for adapting to a new position so well, and the rest of the squad for all being great

Looking at the poll, it's not remotely close. Like the large majority, I voted for Alderweireld here - and I did the same on the official site. It's striking that the national awards should nominate Kane and Alli, because attacking players get a disproportionate amount of attention. And it's equally striking (and a credit to SC members) that Spurs fans who watch the club every week know the real reason why we've been so much better this season: "It's the defence, stupid." Toby was the missing piece

Pochettino deserves a good deal of credit for that improved defence. Introducing a dedicated defensive midfielder who shields the defence and drops back into a 3 man defence when the fullbacks attack has created a great deal of defensive stability. But you need the calm, positionally aware players to deliver that tactically-challenging shift multiple times in every game. Vertonghen was always that good, but one reliable defender in a back 4 cannot cover for everyone. Toby was the missing piece.

There is also a subtle, but definite way that having a solid defence has facilitated our attacking players. When you know that someone has your back, you can go for it. You can take risks that you dare not take when you have a flaky defence behind you. So even our goals-scored record is indirectly a product of our strengthened defending. Toby was the missing piece.

My player of the season? One Erik Manuel Lamela. Reasoning? He is crucial to our play. We play like complete shit without him on the pitch and his mentality snd enthusiasm is infectious. His attitude rubs off on the rest of the team. He always rises to the occasion and is consistently great against the "top teams.

I'm actually plumping for Dier, because his revelatory protection of the back four has been just as vital as Toby's presence in it.
He has been a welcome bonus but his protection at times is overstated, he doesn't play like a DM at times and more like just a big CM.

The big improvement in the defence has been Alderweireld, his leadership and controlling of our defence and Dier has what has been the biggest difference

Without him Wimmer wouldn't have slotted straight in and with him, Vertonghen and Toby have become the best defence in the premier league. This season we haven't seen Jan make those mistakes we have gotten use to and just back out of challenges, thats down to toby imo

Toby for me. Not just a great defender, but scored crucial goals when needed and can play wonderful long balls to Alli as well.

Alderweireld has been a revelation, Rose too, while Dier and Dembele have both been consistently brilliant, but Kane wins it for me. After a shaky start he's bettered last season's record with games to spare, he's set a new record for league goals in a season and he's scored big goals in big games under pressure. On top of that, even when he's had a sticky patch like at the start of the season, he's still remained invaluable due to his work rate and energy on the pitch. For such a young player in only his second season to hit such great heights and make himself a leader is truly exceptional.

The low amount of votes going to our AM3 positions, in a season where we're the leagues top scorers, is telling of where our first xi could do with some tweaking.

There are so many players I have been impressed by this season.

Dier has stepped up the job as DM superbly and we are no longer desperate for that midfield destroyer. Rose has finally proved so many critics wrong and put in many top quality performances and like Dier earnt a spot in the England squad.

Kane works tirelessly and proved he's no 1 season wonder by bagging 20+goals in successive seasons. Then Dembele finally put all that talent into a package that makes him a footballer rather than a player with some great attributes.

But like so many Alderweireld gets my vote. He has been excellent from start to finish and I hope he stays with us for a long time.

Not wanting to be ghey, but I reckon the whole team has been fantastic this season. One of the most noticeable and important things about Poch's system/philosophy/ethics... whatever you want to call it... is that it only works when there is a strong team of footballers who work together, for each other. All our players genuinely seem like mates, put themselves on the line for each other, and are always showing/covering for each other.

Rather than a collection of talented individual players (like say Man Utd and/or City) this is a TEAM... and that's why we succeed.

So yeah, we have to pick a Player of the Season as an accolade, and well done to who gets it of course... but my onions is that they all deserve something... hopefully that will be the championship trophy :)

1) Alder
2) Dier
3) Kane

To be honest though about 18 players have had stand-out seasons. Only Njie, Son, Bentaleb and Mason have underperformed, and all those are significantly injury related.

I went for Toby. But looking at the poll the 2 players that can feel hard done by with a total of 5 votes between them is LLoris and Alli

I can't decide. I've never had that problem before. What a great season!

It's a good problem to have. I'm sure a couple of seasons ago it was difficult to select one player it had been that uninspiring.

I've gone for Toby but feel it does a disservice to Dier, Kane, Lloris, Dembele, Alli...

Toby for me, because as my Arsenal supporting colleague kindly pointed out to me "Kane is just a pimped up Peter Crouch"!!

Toby has been immense, we finally have a defense to be proud of (and relied on) and it has given us a solid base to build on.

Honorable mentions to Dier, Kane, Alli, Dembele and even Rose.

Can't we just give it to all of em?

Oh bugger, just realised i forgot Hugo, shame on me, mention for him too

Voted for Dembele, think his and diers roles have been as important to the defence as Alderweireld and the way Dembele has become the player he always showed in fits and starts is commendable given age an injuries, only remember him losing the ball once! Love the way he just cannot be knocked off the ball, buys everyone else space. Seems I'm in the minority!

Grr.. such a tough call this year.

I went for Dembele - because I think he has generally been unplayable this season.

Toby and Harry are literally within 1% of Moussa for me though.

Dembele wasn't in the team for the first part of the season, and was gradually eased in via AM, before moving to CM

He's improved massively, but he's only featured in 21/33 matches.
