I've been listening to The Spurs Show pretty much since they started. I listened to one or two others a couple of years back, but didn't rate them (can't remember the names of them though).

Anyone else have some other good recommendations?

There was a Pod a few years back called Cock on Ball which was awesome, but they stopped doing it which was a real shame. I wish they would come back - as I dont think The Spurs Show is close to as good.

No real recommendations - just reminiscing.

I listen to loads of them. They are all good but slightly different:

1. The Spurs Show

Presented by Phil Cornwell who fancies himself for an impression but I find him very tedious to listen to, as nice as he probably is. Pretty old school Spurs in terms of opinions and demographic. Probably the most professionally made though. Only half an hour so it's short and it never really feels like they've actually expressed any real insight or opinion. Probably my least favourite.

2. The Fighting Cock Podcast

Younger crowd of guys who started the 1882 movement to get better atmosphere back at the Lane, which they deserve massive credit for.

The show itself feels more political these days, with host Flav clearly passionate about a range of things to do with modern football. Ticket prices, atmosphere, safe standing etc.

This can make the episodes feel like they drag at times, a bit like being stuck talking to someone at a party who is into conspiracy theories, but if you can stick with it it's always great Spurs banter and opinion too.

The political stuff aside, it's essentially just a bunch of good mates, drinking beer and chatting Spurs which is what really appealed after a year or so of listening to the much more sanitised Spurs Show.

It's always a good hour and comes out on a Friday, so perfect for the journey to the game.

Lots of swearing so not one to have on in the car with the kids ;)

3. The Hotspurs Podcast

Two guys talking over Skype, Steve and Colin (who is in N.Ireland).

A heartfelt show from two massive Spurs fans and it is weekly.

They get fans involved quite often on the phone, which can be fun.

Steve the host is a decent guy, but his opinions are pretty old school and I often don't agree with him! Good fun though!

4. Rule The Roost

New one this season, presented by Tehtrunk (of YouTube fame) and the Spurs stat man.

Really enjoy this one as it is essentially the 'What are our opponent fans saying about us' thread in a podcast! They get a blogger from our upcoming opponent on the show each week to trade opinions which makes for a fresher perspective.

Raj, from Spurs stat man, really knows his football too so the show has fewer recycled opinions and more insight/football knowledge than the other podcasts (something the FC is lacking a bit of now Spooky of Dear Mr Levy doesn't feature as much).

This one is definitely my favourite this season.

5. Hotspur's Half Hour

Probably not going to be a popular choice on here as this one is presented by the much maligned blogger Harry Hotspur.

The thing is though, if you put to one side and accept that Harry is a bit of a misery guts who is very opinionated, regularly incorrectly, it's actually really quite a good podcast.

The host One Dave Mackay is excellent and the chemistry and self depreciating quick wit between them works really well and often makes me laugh.

They also have these strange but very funny 'sea shanty' style songs for the players which are produced and recorded by someone else but can be hilarious and catchy!

Give it a try!

Overall I would say that all of these should be downloaded on subscription if you're a Spurs fan who likes listening to podcasts. Have so much respect for all of the amateur ones (basically all of them apart from the Spurs Show).

I've recorded my own pods before and it's a great commitment, especially to do it weekly.

If any of the people involved in making these podcasts read this, then keep up the good work and thanks for putting in the effort - no fan has an excuse for listening to TalkSport these days and for that you must be congratulated! :)

P.s. the monthly 'Ohhh When The Spurs' podcast I left out, but that is presented by Crackers and can be hilarious!

P.p.s. Wheeler Dealer radio comes out irregularly but is interesting because it's hosted by a bunch of American Spurs fans. Again, this can offer a fresh perspective.

Haven't listened to any in a while but (in direct contrast to everyone above) I used to really like Phill Cornwell and the Spurs Podcast while I found Cock on Ball a bit boring.

Each to their own and all that!

Cock on Ball was the only one I ever liked. Real shame it stopped. I can't get in to any of the others.

Yeh, I just found they gave very level-headed reviews and talk on spurs, whilst having good banter. The other two I have listened too (The Spurs Show and The Fighting Cock) seem to be overly negative and knee-jerk if spurs lose and swing to the other end of the spectrum if they win. Maybe they will come back one day.

Fighting Cock is easily the better of the Podcasts. Good team and have great Guests. The Micky Hazard one was one of my favourites.

Rob White is a regular which is really good too as he has a good history with the club.

They are all potty mouths as mentioned above so don't have you're kids around. :)

The Fighting Cock is my fav. Easily. Good banter, tons of swearing, the sound of beer cans opening, the occasional outburst of singing.

And then the professional bits. The production is great, guests are amazing, features are really entertaining too.

Love the whole 1882, sing for the shirt thing too.

I've gone and downloaded them all and will take a listen. Luckily (or unfortunately depending on which way I look at it), I have a long trip for work leaving next Monday and have about 5 hours travel so will have time to listen.

Agree but the last couple of weeks have been hard to listen. Their blind hate of Harry lately has made them act like we have been doing well, when the performance have been bad(not on about the style of play or the results). The have been going on about they believe in his philosophy of grinding out wins, when if actually read AVB's philosophy its nothing like and is based on attacking football.

I seen alot of fans go from one extreme to the other this season acting like its either no tactics or AVB's, nothing else, when AVB's tactics where clearly not being understood by the players. There alot of other managers with a philosophy like Martinez, Pochettino, Rodgers and etc in the PL let alone the world

I found eddiev14 review of them not far from my own feelings.

Rule the Roost and The Fighting Cock are my 2 favourites. With The Spurs Show probably my least fav.

I totally agree with you but I hearing them concerning AVB over this season has been silly at times. Like last season was a success because of our points(worth noting the bottom 12 teams have a unusually low points tally with the team 8th closer to being in the bottom 3 than finishing within a couple of points of the team in 5th.)

dont get me wrong I didnt believe AVB should of got sacked earlier but the way people on some of the pods have been making excuses I found funny at times. I like AVB's philosophy, its actually really good but the team werent applying it. Now when people defend the team philosophy to have a go at the anti avb/pro harry(I'm not one of them), well thats silly and maybe they should look at what AVB wants.

The defending of AVB for me was worse when after the sacking, people say he needed time, yet we werent making improvements and were going backwards from last season. Now what I mean by that is last season, the high line wasnt a issue and wont be a issue in the future if the players press the other team. Bale left but he didnt press much last season, whereas the guys still here did. This season our pressing had become worse like the City, West Ham, Arsenal and Liverpool match's and in the last game only Soldado(for a while) and Holtby pressed, the rest seem unbothered by this.

I dont mind if the people defend AVB as I did but the podcasts have been saying oh people still dont like AVB because they are unhappy about Redknapp. Fuck off. I couldnt give a toss about redknapp but people saying AVB is the total opposite of redknapp is utter bollocks, at the end of the day you are judged on what tactics your players carry out. Under both managers the tactics seemed shocking at times.

Get me on the fighting cock podcast and I'll put them straight  and say look, redknapp was a shit get over it but AVB was making improvements either.

Redknapp was very far from shit though.

I like the FC but there are a lot of 'in' jokes and an obsession with twitter. It's also a bit too laddish.

I quite like the historical flavour to the spurs show and it's a bit more light hearted.
