I don’t disagree midfield is a higher priority and full backs are also a requirement but my initial post was in response to one saying that the poster couldn’t see any way we could improve the squad, there I disagree, I think we could do better, it would cost money and is a lower priority but if, for example, Martial doesn’t sign an extension and became available should we try and sign him then I’d say yes, same would go for someone like Brandt and the players to make way would for me be Lamela and Moura.

Definitely not a priority but yeah maybe Moura and Lamela do flatter to deceive compared to Eriksen, Alli and Son who are all certified starters but then we can't really ask for much else can we seeing as these players are more often than not able to come in and do a job, seems rather unnecessary unless we can replace them with a player who is clearly class and would get into our starting 11 but that's easier said than done.

I personally dont think he's good enough.

Highly likely to be true given that he didn’t cut it at City and has ended up at Celtic, but they’re scouting has been pretty good in recent years given the successes of some of the players that have left them.

What was the reason we didn’t pursue N’dombele in the summer? Was it the situation with an agreement with his parent club and Lyon, or something the scouts had concerns with? Because he had looked like the closest to a Dembele clone around, and now I suspect he’s out of our price range

The ITK we got this summer was that Lyon was asking too much I believe. Lyon had an agreement in the loan where they could buy him for 8 mil I think.

I pretty much assumed when the window shut so did our chances of getting him. He'll be top of a lot of lists for major teams next summer and I don't see us competing in that market.

Fully agree, it’s why I posed the question of why we didn’t pursue his signing in the summer window. Looks like we can add him to the coulda woulda shoulda list

There’s too many superclubs looking for a midfielder next summer. Barca, City, Real, probably more. De Jong, Ndombele will undoubtably be top of most of those lists.

We need to think outside the box a little and spot someone who just needs a little polishing up.

so who would you sell out of Lamela, Son, Moura or Alli to keep another player happy, and going to that formation we wouldn't need a CM B2B player.

None, I would replace Llorente. I’m not suggesting we change formation permanently, I’m suggesting we allow ourselves another option. It’s good to be unpredictable and adapt ones tactis to ones opponent which is what Pep does at a city, they change between 433, 4123and 4132. As I said, what City have with Jesus is the ideal, but we are not a city and can’t afford to have their team. But we can still look for another striker that has the potential to be as good as Jesus.
