Kessie is massively overated by some and from the outside looking in I'd worry he'd be another player with the mentality we are trying to get rid of. That may be harsh though, dunno.

Strangely I'm not too concerned about CM creativity in this system. I am concerned about our RWB options though and that needs to be addressed urgently.

I'd also like some forward cover and CB is another priority as we have too many players in that position who just aren't good enough despite some trying to convince themselves in the players thread.

Well, we are trying.
Is this the usual we tried but couldn"t find anyone suitable to play 2nd fiddle to Kane from tottenham we get every window. Hopefully different this year, can't see Conte accepting that excuse.

Rather than kessie I would take a punt on Renato sanches, just come off a great season in ligue1 and looking to make the step up again. All energy Kante style midfielder

As Conte recently said he wants two players for each position, and also stated that he see's Rodon as a CB and not a RCB or LCB, it made me think how he sees the overall squad, and where he will see gaps that need addressing. I have based the below on where Conte has used players to date, and how many minutes they have had. The only positions we do not have obvious back-up for are LCB and CF, and for this reason I think these will be the priorities in January. It also suggests that Ndombele and Dele are surplus, and there seems no obvious place for Tanganga.

GK: LLoris [Gollini]
RCB: Romero [Sanchez]
CB: Dier [Rodon]
LCB: Davies [TBD]
RWB: Emerson [Doherty]
LWB: Reguilon [Sessegnon]
CM: Skipp [Winks]
CM: Højbjerg [Lo Celso]
RWF: Moura [Gil]
LWF: Son [Bergwijn]
CF: Kane [TBD]

Assuming we fill the two obvious gaps in January, I'd imagine we'll then look at strengthening our three or four weakest positions in the summer - for me RWB, CB, CM and RWF stand out as those weaknesses.
I'd be tempted to sell Sanchez and have Tanganga as cover for Romero then try and get an elite LCB who pushes Davies to be the rotation option. Tanganga has shown potential and is home grown. He'd effectively be 5th or 6th choice CB. We should still be able to get some money for Sanchez and whilst he has had some better games recently I think he's had long enough to cement a first team spot.

Wish I hadn't said anything now if I'm honest. As I posted months back we really want a certain CF, his contract is at a place where it might or might not happen, depending on a good number of factors. We think we are on a good place regarding him, but so many variables involved regarding when(if) it could happen. If you can't get your head around how this works with short contract players probably best to stay away from itk imo, because looking at those we are currently targeting there are going to be a lot similar to this in the near future.

What do you think he is going to do? He can't make the player come to us.

IMO Vlahovic is more likely to stay at Fiorentina until the summer, when he'll have a pick of which club to sign for.

what we need is Mousa Dembele 2014 thrust into a time machine and given hip replacements paid for by the DARE skywalk profits.

I'm not convinced there's a progressive ball carrier/passer in Europe who can fit into the physical demands of Conte's CMs. At least, not an affordable one. And the last position a club would be willing to sell in January is a centre midfielder, if he is good.

I'm sure they'd love to buy Vlahovic, along with every other team out there.

I think we had once chance to do it - last Summer, after successfully selling Kane

It's too late now, which is a real shame - he looks special

Is Kessie and Skipp really any different than Skipp and PEH?
I'd say yes. But the more important question is:

Is Kessie really any different than Winks?

Because, if when Skipp gets suspended again, or if either are injured/knackered - Winks is going to play. I'd rather be able to rotate Kessie/Skipp/PEH

Are we sure Man City won't be going in for Haaland in the summer? I don't know what his contract sutuation is, but surely he is who they will want first.

All the richest top clubs will go for Haaland, so no guarantees City would get him. Vlahovic would surely be high on their wish list if they can't get Haaland, so unless Vlahovic and his entourage have already fallen for Spurs' charms then it will be difficult to compete with City.

Feck Kessie, Ibrahim Sangare at PSV is the exact type of all round midfielder we could do with.

Excellent in the defensive aspect, but very good at building quick attacks with his great range of passing. Add to this his work rate and I could easily see him handling the rigours of the Premier league.

Mentioned him prior to PSV securing him for an absolute bargain £8 million iirc.

...and the compulsory youtube highlights reel with shite music to boot.

I agree completely. Go back and read the threads on him back then and see the general consensus regarding him though. I've rated him since day one and was massively in favour of signing him when we did. I'd wager you'd be staggered by the number of posters who did nothing but criticise his stats and lack of assists and goals back then though.

For me the main target has to be a top striker and that striker is Vlahovic. I'm honestly not too fussed about any other signings until that one is done with one way or another.

If you took away the entire history of the players of this team in terms of what they had done prior to Conte coming, when they were bought, what their reputation is then in my opinion the number 1 target would be a striker who can press as Conte wants them to. I think Vlahovic has all that we have lacked in that department in these recent games when playing the 3-4-3.

I think all other areas we can muddle through until next summer in my opinion, but that top striker who is relentless up top is what I think would really energise this Conte team. The defenders are doing a serviceable job, the goalie is great, the midfield whilst lacking in creativity is doing what Conte desires from them, The wingers are working hard and have started to chip in with goals, The LWB is doing a great job. RWB is lacking in an offensive nature, that'd be the 2nd position I look at but if we're sticking with 3-4-3 then the striker needs competition because despite some very good passes, I think he's struggling in other areas. Not to say he won't turn it around but just trying to be objective rather than looking at names of what is needed.

So yeah, Vlahovic, the rest can wait, if we somehow could land Vlahovic and have margin for a 2nd purchase, I'd be interested offensive RWB, though Emerson of course has only been here 5 minutes and Conte could improve that area of his game, it's ultimately up to Conte to decide whether Emerson provides exactly what he needs from RWB but if we're going to be playing 2 solid CMs rather than figure out a way to get a more creative midfielder into the team then RWB needs to be providing the passes.

Yeah if there is any chance we can get Vlahovic in Jan we need to go all out for him.

The more I see of Kane and the more our lack of passing ability is apparent the more I can see Kane, Son and Vlahovic all being able to play together ( albeit with a small tweak in formation).

And call me crazy but I still wouldn’t mind if Conte explored the idea of Moura at RWB. If he can do it with Moses there’s no reason he can’t with Moura. Maybe not while Sanchez or Tanganga are playing in defence, but definitely with Romero there.

How did we not sign Patson Dhaka last season. Would have been perfect as cover for Kane and can also play wide. Paratici only seems to deal with Italian and Spanish agents.

Daka signed for Leicester 1 day before Paratici even joined our club, so that’s a non starter
