I think some of you are far to confident.
I agree, though clearly not as confident as some of the guys on kumb... I mean seriously?! Two bob, average, always beat us?

They had one good season against us, one... And fair play, they were deserved victors, but fooking 'ell...

Quite possibly... The truth of the matter is we have never lost more than we have won in any league or cup vs West ham since WW2.

In the Premier League history alone the stats read:
Won 18 Draw 8 Lost 12 in our favour

But yeah, they always beat us...

I think it'll be a tight game, we are going to have to watch out for their counter attacking and counter this with our own counter attacks.......if you understand.

We will control a lot of the game and they will sit back so i think that is where eriksen will be the key, If eriksen shows up then we win the game, if not then the game is in the balance

We're miles and miles better than them all over the pitch.

The only decisive factor will be being as up for it as they always always always are.

If we come flying out of the blocks it'll be over and done with by half time.

But if we're sluggish in the first 15 minutes they'll get a grip and we'll struggle to get it back again.
They'll get confident, we'll start to over think everything. Same one story really. When we start a game well we're very good. When we're slow we suffer.

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand them but they are a decent side. Glad payet is out though, we gotta match their enthusiasm from the first whistle. Cos they are gonna be right up for a fight

We're not miles better than them. This is the sort of deluded rubbish that will be posted on KUMB's equivalent "What our opponents are saying" thread.

Tottenham forward Heung-Min Son is set to make his first start in nearly two months after a foot injury, replacing the suspended Erik Lamela.
Andros Townsend could return but Nabil Bentaleb and Nacer Chadli are out.
Spurs however will be boosted by the inclusion of Antony Taylor in their starting line-up and are looking forward to their penalty and the wrongful sending off of a West ham player
I thought this post on kumb forum was hilarious.

Not sure you can cite luck in statistical terms mate -

Luck is another name for random.

You look at all teams over any period of time and you come up with some kind of shot/goal distribution, will look a lot like a bell. You then look at an individual team over a short period of time and you see where they'd fit into that normal distribution, if they're at one extreme end or another they're called outliers. You investigate outliers to see if there's an error in your analysis/data or to see if there's something fundamental about that team, and if the answer to those questions is no then you put the result down to randomness. You say to yourself that yes it's improbable but not impossible, but given there's nothing fundamentally different about this team over any other, you say it is almost certainly a random effect, or put another way: luck.

Like tossing 15 heads in a row. Unlikely, but not impossible. You examine the coin and see there's nothing different about it. You examine your data and your analysis and confirm that you didn't make a mistake. Therefore you determine it's a statistical quirk, a random effect. Luck.

Would you drop any of our squad for any of theirs?
Would you swap our coach for theirs?
Would you swap their owners for ours?
Their stadium deal for ours?

No?

Thought not.

They only reason they are where they are is their mentality and earlier start than everyone else.
They're a mid table team.

They arnt as bad as youre making out. They have a decent team this year. Ok maybe not as good as us, but this new stadium is a game changer for them and should push them on to where Everton have been the last few seasons. Games against West Ham are gonna get tougher in future.

They are playing well, particularly away from home. We have superior players, should we win? Yes we should, but we need to continue with the mindset we've had recently, get in their faces from the off and don't give them space to catch breath

If we play like we did against Arsenal but with better finishing we should win. We should have scored more than a single goal against Arsenal, several reasonable chances went begging.

I have no idea how this is going to go, Allardyce seemed to always get his tactics right against us for West Ham, but now it's different under Bilic.

This is going to be a very interesting game for sure.

Even their players are saying that "Tottenham is the first game you look at when you get the fixture list" this really is a cup final for them, I pity them I really do.

West Ham were a southern league team till after WW1. Their first ever trophy was in 1964 and their most recent in 1980. Their highest ever league position was 3rd, once. They have finished above Spurs a handful of times in their history. They have had a higher average attendance four times in over 100 years of history. They are owned and run by pornographers. They were founded as a commercial investment, with none of the boy's own romance of the truly great clubs who made football for us. They had a spell in the 60s of mildly entertaining football but have nothing in their history to rival Spurs landmarks, for example of 'The Flower of the South' 1901 team, Vic Buckingham and Arthur Rowe's contributions to the development of the Mighty Magyars, innovations such as Push an Run and Ron Reynolds practice of the goalkeeper actually passing the ball to his teammates instead of booting it upfield, or Bill Nicholson's 100 goal per season teams. They've never come close to being the sort of club who could lead the country's attendance figures despite being in the second division, as Spurs did in 1950. They did contribute three players to England's 1966 WC winners but how shit must the rest of that WHU team been! And their manager of the time went on to be one of England's very worst ever managers. Contrasting somewhat with the ex-Spur, Sir Alf. Yoyo club.
