I agree about Martinelli being a very good player, if a little raw and would 100% take him in our squad as well as Saka, Tierney, Partey and Gabriel.

Nevertheless, fuck Arsenal.

And back on topic, watching these meltdowns I’ll repeat what I’ve said many times before : I dread to think what some of these fucking drama queens would be like if they supported Spurs….. probably on blood pressure pills.

I feel like them finishing above us is the only thing they have left of their invincible era, a time where everything made sense and they were at the top of the tree. It's that last thing that is still attainable to them now that we have moved into the era of sovereign wealth funds, dodgy sponsorship deals and oligarchs.

Right now, everyone one of those improves our squad. You telling me tanganga and Rodon are better than white and Gabriel? Is Sanchez better than tomiyasu? Tierney is better than both or left backs, partey is miles better than winks and is a more complete player than hojberg, lacazette is better than Scarlett, martinelli is better than berg, Saka starts over Kulu, odegaard provides us a decent 10 option, esr offers a better rotation option than Moura.
Yes Sanchez is better than Tomiyasu...... what's wrong with you.....I keep seeing people wanting an upgrade on Sanchez... show me a better quality cb happy to come to the PL.... adapt and play a bit part ( off the bench) like Sanchez has done.

I wouldn't be looking to sell Sanchez. Sorry I'm replying to you but seen this over and over.....

It's a pretty bloody toxic place over there right now. I checked out about 8 different threads and it's the same all over. This was all from The Race for Top 4 thread.
  • Really didn't feel like getting out of bed today....What a horrible night it was
  • This is going to be a long bitter off season where I stew and think about how badly Tets bottled the CL. Brutal, sheer agony for me every time I think about football from now till first match day, oh well at least I won’t have to watch bottom half teams dominate our midfield for a few months. I literally feel what fans of garbage clubs feel, nothing but resignation, and joy every time we get the ball for more than 10 seconds. Please no one say we got Europa league to look forward to it is better than no matches but Europa league is like being voted the tallest Pygmy, yay I guess.
  • Gotta give credit to Arteta for putting pressure on Don Antonio, who came midseason and did the job without spending 3 seasons to "lay the foundation for the future".
  • Nah you need to get it right mate.Don Antonio only finishes top four because Arsenal, United, West Ham, Wolves underperformed this season. He went out all cup competitions early and even ran away from a competition so that he had his one game a week.
  • Also dont forget... after all of that happening, he still whines about not being the right man for the job, threatening to quit, right before offering his services to PSG.
  • Lets see how he gets on when playing 2+ games a week
  • Why is a promising project just 8 points ahead of the train wreck of a season Utd had?
  • Two truths can be true btw. Positives from this season but bottled it
  • Remembering we were 4th, 6 points above Sp**s and with a game in hand only 11 games ago. Then remembering we had Chelsea away, West Ham away and Utd at home in those 11 games and won all of them.??????
  • Would we have been better off playing the NLD in January, even if meant putting out a midfield of Chambers and Lokonga?
  • We simply didn't deserve it and we're nowhere near good enough or ready for CL
  • Why the duck is our target top 6? Should be top 4 at the ducking minimum
  • No one had us in top 4 because no one had faith in Arteta because he’s so ****. Not because of the squad quality.
  • No point taking to you. If you think we have a top 4 starting 11 and squad there's no point continuing this debate.
  • The **** you on about? We sacked Wenger because he dropped out of top four and wasn't on course to get it back by the middle of the next season. Meanwhile your boy Tet is stinking up the place for the third season in row and looking to continue his streak into the fourth season.
  • Cursing at me and then ultimately agreeing with me. You're weird af
  • Where did I curse at you or agree with you? You really are losing brain cells. Assuming you had any in the first place
  • having 450M invested into the squad over 3 years and still not being top 4 quality squad. That's on Arteta and Edu. Also great coaches outperform perceived squad quality. Squad doesn't look top 4 quality because they're playing under an incompetent coach. Same **** happened with Chelsea, where they went from bums to CL champions under Tuchel. Same with Sp**s, went from 7th to 4th when Conte took over halfway through the season.
  • 450 million???
  • We spent 180M in 19/20 after finishing 5th and then 280M under Tets so far. So actually 470M.
  • Receipts here. Keep laughing mate. Arsenal FC - Transfers 19/20

Hahaha. Is this the same Arsenal?

Lost in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.
No Europe.
Ran away from the NLD in January so they had one game a week for MONTHS.

  • One thing I will say, in fairness to Newcastle, last night showed it, and other times when they've been doing well showed it, is that they can turn St James Park into a cauldron that makes even poorer players perform above themselves. The New White Hart Lane last week was the same. Anfield is worth 10 points a season to Liverpool.
    The Emirates scare nobody.. ever
  • And playing dirges like the North London song.. and finishing games with Sweet Caroline is nonsense too.. its too sterile.. too nice
Make the stadium rock.. none of this "Arsenal, Arsenal FC, by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen".. crap
  • Couldn’t sleep properly last night, kept on having dreams about Sp**s finishing in the top 4. My worst nightmare has become a reality.
  • Bruno Guimaraes bossed our midfield like he’s been in the Prem for the entirety of his career. A CL level player gone to Newcastle ffs. Could have saved our season if Arteta wasn’t in love with Elneny and Xhaka.
  • Criminal that we added no one just let Sp**s pick up a gem in January
  • Even with the right acquisitions, I can't see this team getting top 4 next season. I don't trust this manager to deliver
  • We had a world class striker, best stats in the top 5 major leagues since Feb. We didn’t even sell him, we gave him to Barca because our manager couldn’t make it work. Golden Boot, 2019 ahead of Kane, level with Salah. Points the finger at Arteta more than anything else.
  • I know about the Auba thing its gonna hurt us big time if you look at it now.
  • It’s not unthinkable Newcastle now raid Arsenal the way City once did
  • Feel like pure ****
  • Its the Sunday games all the time wreck my head.. if Arsenal lose, it f***s up my whhole week ahead
  • It's a sign of the players being nervous. When a large away crowd get on to them, they fold.
  • Go on twitter and see Arsenal fans crying Newcastle tried so hard against us, how'd they have coped back in the day when the likes of Bolton, Birmingham and Stoke not only tried against us but went of their way to injure our players.
Fanbase has gotten so sawft. Instead of demanding more from the players and the manager they create about every external factor under the sun.
  • Yeah these new age fans are f*cking embarrassing. Spend all day talking sh*t on Twitter with their stupid anime display pics, trying to get a ‘ratio’ every 2 mins. F*cking c****.
  • What gets me the most is that every game that we go down 1-0 is literally over.
  • Guarantee if top4 was already gone for us Newcastle’s intensity and determination to win that match would have been rock bottom.
  • How do you raise your game against Chelsea & United but are somehow too nervous and fold away to Palace and Newcastle? It’s abnormal. It’s almost as if they want to fuq it up.
  • All this culminates in twice losing control of 4th place and in this last game throwing one 5 attackers, playing one of them left back, asking Xhaka to play 4 different roles at different points in the game. This isn’t tactical nous. It looked like at one point Laca decided what should be done…
Giving Arteta the extension signalled the lack of ambition we have - the season wasn’t over but it was already good enough for those at the top.
Sorry but this isn’t good enough for me: it’s not good enough for Arsenal FC.
  • This was perhaps our last chance to get top four. After the rise of Newcastle, United stable with Ten Hag and Sp**s getting even better under Conte in second season it will be fcking hard next season. It is a shame. Ultimately our thin squad let us down.
  • As soon as I heard the Newcastle fans I knew we would not win. This team is easily shook by opposition fans instead of thriving on it. Same reason we got knocked out by Nottingham forest or any other away defeat this season.
  • I know he's **** and we're going to be **** while he's here. I just need to wait him out.
  • As long as there's 150m+ to spend in summer then I think we should be better again next season.
  • Bla, bla, bla... Mate, he is here to stay. Just get over it and deal in reality! Do what I do. Mix a stiff drink, try to look on the bright side and **** doesn't look half as bad! Cheers!
This is not an Arsenal fan, just an Arteta sexual. They don't care about the club but only about the Lego.
  • Really down on this club right now. CL football could have seen us secure some top players that won’t come now. And to extend Arteta’s deal was a monumental error. I’d have looked for a new manager in the summer of we missed out on CL (which we will) but now that’s not an option unless we go full meme. The talented players we do still have will not stick around forever and waste their careers unders Lego man.
It’s all gone to **** in these last few games.
  • Newcastle - got hammered Spurs - got hammered Leeds - hanging on vs 10 men WHU - 2 setpieces, scraped a win vs a tired squad United - played like clowns but we faced bigger clowns Chelsea - okay but gifted 2 goals + soft pen Southampton - diabolical Brighton - slapped at the Ems
  • We've had a pathetic midfield since the exciting Jack-Cesc-Song axis TWELVE YEARS AGO.
What is wrong with this club?

I'd add Ødegaard and Smith-Rowe to that list. Both good players with bright futures ahead of them, and they'd be starters in a 352. We could do worse than Lacazette as backup up front as well, although I'm no big fan of him.
Smith-Rowe has just gone 28 consecutive games without an assist. No way he’d start for us is a 3-5-2. Where would he play? And how pissed off would Son or Kulusevski be that you’ve dropped them for a much inferior player?

I think this thread needs to get back on track because all this talk about Arsenals squad and if they would get in our team is pretty fucking boring....

We don't stand a hope in hell of getting anything from the game. Spurs will score early doors then probably go on to smash us 5-0
It will either be 1-0 to us or 6-0 to them.

Would ne nice to ruin their season, finish 19th, and upset jamie ohara (whilst making laura woods love us)
Much rather Arsenal get 4th place so if we could pull off the unthinkable to help them out, it'll make for a shining light in a shower of **** season for us
There is not a cat in hells chance we will beat them this weekend. I'm not sure we will register that many shots on goal even. And i'm usually a Percy positive
There is more chance of me taking Beyoncé to the Queen of Iceni for breakfast followed by a light lunch with Debbie Harry in the Coach and Horses tomorrow, than us getting anything against Spurs.
Get over it .
I think we might score a goal, the only problem is they’ll score 4 or more.
Even Spurs arent Spursy enough to lose to us on Sunday.....are they?
Spurs lose to us....lol!
We aren't beating Spurs...

I love this as well. If spurs beat Norwich they will finish on 71 points. 69 points got 3rd last year. 66 points got 3rd the year before that. The year before that Spurs came 4th with 71 points and arsenal 5th with 70 - almost exactly what will happen if both win this week. (Edit thanks Norgie for pointing out arsenal can only get 69)

People keep making out its a weak year for CL qualification and it just isn’t backed up by the facts. I did love the Wolves underperforming reference - I mean, who didn’t have wolves down for at least 72 points?????

Interesting, although Arsenal can only get 69 points as they are on 66 atm

Yeah people say this almost every year.

"It's like noone even WANTS 4th place this season lol!!!!!"

Reality is, the reason a team is generally fighting for 4th and not the top 3 spots is because they've been relatively inconsistent. If they were cruising to victory after victory they'd be third or above.

This year's top 4 race has been above average, if anything.

Yup exactly, it isn’t a weak year at all. The highest a team has ever amassed without getting 4th was 75 pts, (arsenal funnily enough). But the lowest ever required for top 4 was 54 pts. I read an article talking about it and 66-71 is average points requirement in the premier league era.

They have talked about conte, how he hasn’t achieved anything and is elite because all he did was purposely forgo the Europe comp, get us kicked out the cups super quick (although we got further than them in the FA and were in the semi finals with them in the league cup) and moaned a lot whilst offered himself out to psg.
very deluded fan base.

Indeed. And if this is West Ham underperforming, then presumably they'll be on for the treble next season if they perform to standard.

People keep saying the fight for fourth is weak. If anything it has been more competitive due to the premier league being stronger overall. I can imagine once Newcastle/Villa/West Ham maybe get involved and the points total would be even lower.
