Huge Premier League interest in McKennie

Liverpool are among six Premier League teams monitoring Weston McKennie's future with the player set on leaving Schalke, sources have told ESPN.

Jurgen Klopp's champions have been long-standing admirers of the United States international, sources have told ESPN, while Tottenham, Everton, Leicester City and Wolves are keen. Newcastle United are also understood to be monitoring McKennie, but any move there will likely be linked with the potential takeover of the club.

Sources say Tottenham are considering either firming up their interest in McKennie or focusing their attention on trying to sign Southampton's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Schalke want in the region of €25-30 million for the box-to-box midfielder, but clubs in the Premier League are optimistic of getting him for closer to €20m.

McKennie is also on the radar of big-spending Hertha Berlin and if he ends up moving to another Bundesliga side it will likely be to Bruno Labbadia's team, sources have told ESPN, but it is understood he favours a switch to the Premier League. -- Tom Hamilton

Hell yes. I still think we should sell Sissoko and replace with McKennie (Not make it an either/or scenario with PEH and McKennie). Offers the same industry but obviously higher ceiling and offers more in the attacking half.

Nah. Signings like McKennie, Adams, or Dest would not move the needle in the states. And if Levy believes they will, he’s a fucking idiot and should get out of football for good. Americans are fond of bright, attacking players. The only player in Europe who would fit that bill is Pulisic at the moment. If Reyna comes good, he would too.

I’d 100% buy a McKennie jersey

I was only saying this after @Snarfalicious foretold that somebody would make a similar comment about Kim Min-Jae

God that would be good. We could easily switch about between the 3 used Mourinho shapes too, 442, 433 and 4231.

Yeah, true. McKennie is basically rolling a B2B/DM into one. He can really fit into any midfield in any formation. That's pretty rare.

As an American, I selfishly would love this kid. Tough player too, excellent with headers and knows when to drop back to defend. He is playing in a 6'ish role for Schalke but will likely be a rock as an 8. A very young player who has a lot of different tools to use. Decent passer, decent moving forward, good size and great intelligence. The only problem is that based on the rumors (i.e. we sign PEH, look to do PEH and Lo Celso with NDombele moving forward), his natural fit would be the role of Lo Celso, making him not as useful. He isn't a true CDM, but he is strong and smart enough to play any role in the middle of the park.

I know everyone thinks us Yanks aren't the best when it comes to talent, but this class coming up that is heavily featured in the Bundesliga is some what talented.

By the sound of you, He can easily replace Sissoko in our squad

The Sissoko comparison is very good. He is an athlete and extremely high energy. Also seems to want to win badly, which is a great quality. Looked like he was regularly upset with his Schalke teammates this year, not in a bad squad morale way but in a "they don't share my desire to win" way.

If Reyna comes good, he’ll be playing for the country of his birth ?

I bet half of you wanting to sign Western Mackenzie have never even heard of him.

I’ve watched Whetstone McEnroe for years and I just don’t think he has what it takes.

Get lost Wilson McFlurry fanboys!
