we definitely need to get behind them, and thank allah for sites like this, so we can vent some bit, but the issue is that we want to be playing CL football next year also, and that means performing in the league.

Now, we finished top 4 last season by beating Arsenal and Chelsea at home, and Man City away. We cannot even hope to presume that we will get draws in these fixtures this season, I say that not to highlight our poor form so far this season, but simply that we cannot rely on repeating these performances this season.

We need to be winning games like today, to give ourselves the best possible opportunity come the end of the season.

We will improve, and we will start getting results, but City will in all likelihood improve also, meaning that we will have to do more than last season to finish in the top 4 again

Yes especially as we beat the Spammers away last year AND still needed to win against arse, city and Chelsea, plus of course we beat Wigan at home too....still at least we've already won V Wolves at home lol.

Joking aside, this is our 1st CL adventure so it must play a part in team selection, we've all taken the piss out of the Sky 4 when they've lost games through weakened team selection with one eye on their CL mid-week game to come. We've got to get used to it as well.

Still say it's the central defensive injuries that are the main issue atm, we wouldn't have lost today with King/Daws, I'm convinced of that, and who knows what that 1 point will mean come seasons end ?

We dont have a natural leader with Dawson and King out we look like losers. Huddlestone should NOT be captain!

Huddlestone should not be in the team based on today's performance. Modric should be dictating play from the middle of the park.

Didn't watch the Game. Seen no highlights. Got in from work, turned on SSN and went fucking ballistic for the first time this season.

Absolute dog shit result.

I Cant be bothered to type an essay out!!! Redknapp done wonders to get us 4th!!!! But Levy and Lewis let us down big time by not bringing in at least one big name (Striker). I aint liked Levy for ages, you seem to have a short memory! MJ was a manager we should of backed and Levy treated him like SHIT!!! That's reason 1!

Then he employed Damien "I aint got a Fcuking Scooby DOO Comoli".......backed him with untold cash!!!

Now we have a manager that can spot a player and Your MATE levy wont sanction Jack Shit!!!

My reasons for doubting Redknapp are simple! Teams that come to the lane and pack the middle of the park keep taking points off us but Harry keeps playing 442 at the lane!!! Sometimes a change in formation is needed, like a 352 or a 433!!! Then we go away and play 451 with a forward who cant run!! TACTICALLY CLUELESS!!!!!

Keep on about last year..........last season is done and dusted!!!! You are only as good as your last result!!!

The same way Maicon, Alves and Ramos attack from fullback week in week out for their teams

They do that because their coaches organise the team so that one of the holding midfielders (the one on their side of the pitch) covers their position while they are bombing up front: Lass Diarra for Ramos, Cambiasso or Zanetti for Maicon, Busquets for Alves...

I never felt positive about this one and the team sheet just confirmed my feelings.

We are basically being killed by injuries (today; striker, 5 cb's, left back) and the lack of a decent striker.

Crouch has been doing it for us but today Pav, as bad as he can be, was more dangerous in 10 minutes than Crouch was in 80. VDV, mods et al have nobody to feed the ball to up front because Crouch can't move.

We are in deep shit...........................

Exactly! VDV and MODS can play through balls all day long! But we need a striker like Defoe who can play on the shoulder!!!!!

This seasons start remonds of Ramos start (2 points from 8) where he tried to play 4-5-1 with Modric but failed to work, we're now trying 4-5-1 again, and for whatever reason, we seem to not know how to play this system.

Note: Ramos had Bent who quickly went back to his shell and Man U reserve F.Campbell up front for the whole of first month that season. There was not much of a choice for him other than try and play 4-5-1.

Harry has Defoe (not atm, of course), Crouch, Pav and Keane. There is a lot more choice there to try mixing 4-4-2 and 4-3-3/4-5-1 when necessary. The issue is you need to know how to do it and which ones of them to use effectively.

When we lost to pompey in the semi last year I actually thought that Piqueonne could do a decent job for us. He isn't a world beater but we don't actually need one. We just need a player that can run AND head the ball AND hold the ball up AND offer a physical presence AND work the channels. He doesn't need to be a great finisher or technically wonderful, he just needs to offer us the ability to be unpredictable.

Pav can finish but nothing else, Crouch is, er, tall? Keane is, well, finished? Defoe blows hot and cold but is at least fairly quick.

None of them can offer what we need.

We need to do our best until January and then do EVERYTHING we can to buy a striker. Seriously, if Piquione was playing for us we would have won today. The whole team is stifled by our lack of quality up front!

I think Sandro could well be fast tracked into the First Team. Our current central midfield options just aren't gelling together in partnerships, and seem woefully out of form, particularly Palacios who needs to get an injection of confidence from somewhere. Huddlestone requires Palacios to scrap, and battle alongside him. He was so pivotal for us last year.

None of Pav, Crouch or Keane can play up front alone. It doesn't matter who else is playing in the team, they just can't do it.

Does anybody seriously believe we will sign a striker in January?? I just can't see it happening certainly not in the January transfer window. We could be stuck with the dumplings we have for the whole season. So it's either hope for the best or go back to playing 442.

I think you could very well be right my friend.

At the moment that would mean dropping Lennon for VDV, which might not be such a bad idea. VDV will wander, but the man just has got to play, him on the bench=crime!

All we need to do is play the same formation (4231) with VDV, Modric and Bale as the 3 even if it means modric or VDV is shoved to the right. Lennon starting means that bale has to play left back. lennon would be great impact sub as proved against wolves. when he proves he is ready to start and force bale to lb, he can come back into the team... :)

Who has said that King and Gallas were rested?

Harry has, he said Ledley can't play twice a week and he hasn't played this week yet.

Add this to the Wigan, Wolves, Stoke, West Brom and Arsenal games of under par performances.

Total garbage.

Our strikeforce is toothless without Defoe.

Or indeed with Defoe or do you have evidence to the contrary that we don't know about.

Looks like if we want CL football next season we'll have to win it this time.
