The disallowed goal was the push on Friedel which did look like a push to me but could have been called either way to be honest.

But they didn't show any camera angle to prove it had crossed the line anyway.

Didnt see game. read a few of the reports. bbc in particular seemed to suggest the referee gave us the rub of the green. disallowed goal and 2 penalties and also that lennon duved for ours. any truth in any of this?

1) The "disallowed goal" occurred because their attacker pushed Friedel into the goal. One of their forwards took a shot, looped off BAE, Friedel caught it ahead of the line - only for their attacker to shoulder barge him. Blatant foul.

2) Both penalty shouts for Brom were not penalties, although the Walker one was quite touch and go. Basically the guy skinned Walker, and Walker touched him with his hand, a light push, with an emphasis on light, and the attacker went down like Paris Hilton with a video camera. The 2nd penalty shout was Long on King, basically they both tussled for an aerial ball and as Long was trying to turn around King he fell over King. It was similar to the RVP penalty "shout" today where it was never going to be a penalty - but worth a shout.

3) Lennon's penalty was pretty stone wall. Lennon skinned Shorey, Shorey just brought him down in the box. Pretty obvious I thought.

I may have my Tottenham glasses on so if someone would care to disagree please be my guest.

There is no way that could have been given either way - Friedel had a clear hold of the ball when the WBA player was about a metre away; their player made no attempt to play the ball, he didn't even lead with his head.

Did anyone else laugh at the MOTD commentary when they said something along the lines of "you could be looking at the future England manager, whether it is the man on the left, or the man on the right.......Cox....."

Good win. Took a while for us to get in the game as we adjusted to the changes in personnel. Defence was a little skitty, but attack wise we look to have a real cutting edge.

Glad JD scored, I feel its important to keep him going because VDV and Adebayor will miss games at times or not be on form, and we will need JD.

Its a good run, hopefully we can beat PAOK to get through in that competition, then beat Bolton on saturday week

The conclusion of this game, summarized in one sentence, is that the less we play Modric (at least in the away games), the more likely is to CONVINCE everyone, without ANY DOUBTS, that we DESERVED to be the winners. By far our best away performance this season.

That's 2 sentences. And both are complete bollocks. Surprisingly.

Bollox huh? Refresh my memory then - in what away game did we deserve to win more than we did in this one and in what away game did we play better than in this one?

Wolves. And Wigan because of the first half.

Now shut up with your pathetic and idiotic anti-Modric bias.

Wolves and Wigan .

The one who is pathetic is you for following people around and resorting to name-calling to get his point across.

You might think I'm following you around, but I wouldn't flatter yourself. If someone is shit stirring or talking crap, then I'll usually comment, that's probably where the connection comes in. Seeing as you do both.

The BBC report on the game is one of the most bias pieces of drivel I have seen on the site. Quite incredible how they can suggest:

"The scoreline flattered Spurs, who were disappointing in the first half and lacked creativity in central areas, with Rafael van der Vaart (hamstring) and Luka Modric (ill) both out." - Yeah because with 5 attempts to our 14!! (at home!) only 41% of the ball, 1 corner to our 10.....WBA deserved something from the game

"Spurs were back in the game on 25 minutes as Aaron Lennon cut into the penalty area at pace from the right and went to ground, apparently after a touch from Nicky Shorey." - Apparently?? really so you didn't see the arm on his shoulder or his heel clipped by the defender?

"West Brom were soon feeling further aggrieved when Jerome Thomas, on the charge, felt he was pushed in the back by Kyle Walker but was awarded no penalty" - If this is a penalty then there would be at least 1 every single game.

"And, soon afterwards, Probert denied them a goal for a foul on Brad Friedel, as the keeper appeared to carry the ball over the line when collecting a deflected Reid cross." - Brad had complete control of the ball and the WBA player decided to jump in to him leading with his elbow, correct decision.

"Next West Brom were complaining when Sandro - already booked - did not receive a second yellow for a late challenge on Mulumbu"- Yep every single foul following a yellow card results in a second card..... There was no malice at all in the tackle it was a tussle for the ball.

"The controversy continued when the Baggies had a second penalty shout rejected as Shane Long went down when tussling with King." - You are kidding me? nothing in this at all in no way a penalty.

"Probert then made another big call against West Brom in the 65th minute, when James Morrison went down in the box while battling with Kaboul for the ball." - Honestly the BBC need to realise that contact is not equivalent to a foul all the time, he brushed passed him with no more force than you would a shopper in a busy shop.

I only saw MOTD but it didn't look like we played well, very sloppy at the back. How many chances does Adebayor need to score?! It's hard to criticise a player who's scored 4 goals in 5 days but he makes hard work of it.

I thought the penalty was a little harsh on WBA but I think it was the correct decision. The walker incident wasn't a penalty though.

Lovely work by Parker to set up one of the chances Adebayor missed, lovely work by lennon for the other

Wolves was a much better performance imo. Not to mention Hearts and the balls we showed against PAOK.

I thought we had very little to offer (possession-wise) in the middle of the park (the problem playing 2 DM's without Luka I reckon) which invited a lot of pressure and we ended up with a lot of aimless long balls.

Having said that, our players eventually settled into the game and our class showed through. We were better man-for-man than WBA but I think our setup today allowed them to start brightly.

A very good, patient and "man up" type win today but far from our best away performance.

For a team who didn't play well, away from home:

41/59 possession
9/24 shots
1/10 corners

Oh and

1/3 goals

Lawrenson just said 'remember its Tottenham'. And he's right, we've had these runs before
