Is it just me? For the first time in years I'm wishing this Saturday would just never come. Help me out here, tell me reasons why we might win...

I think the players will be more up for this than a lot of the fans! We need to liven up a bit don't we, fuck me it's time we grew some and stopped the whinging.

I think we can match them on the field, I hope AVB fields the strongest team he can and doesn't try to be too clever. They are so shaky at the back, we can exploit it hugely, we need to stay solid at the back though. Strong performances all round gives us just as good a chance as them!

Aye. We're in for a right shoeing imo. Still, it is the derby. Crazy shit can happen.

Not looking forward to it myself though.

How's this for a good reason:

edit: LOL at being rated as optimistic - this is the real table as it stands, i do think there are some spurs fans who are blinkered by their negativity.

As long as we keep the pressure on them, we will score, their defense is not that great. If AVB has learned his lesson about sitting back with a lead, we will hold onto this one.

Does this help?

Wenger addicted to losing

12-11-12
ARSENE Wenger is now a full-blown addict to Arsenal’s chronic inablity to win, it has emerged.

wenger250.jpg

Driven to nearly succeed
The Arsenal manager said that he first began to relish the feeling of raging exasperation when the Gunners went 4-0 up against Newcastle in 2011, only for Newcastle to pull the game back to 4-4 in the second half.
Wenger said: “At first, the emotions of that game felt negative – but as the second half went on, it was as if I was savouring the exquisite tang of a perfect vinaigrette á la moutarde.
“This acrid sensation in my belly, my loins, I could hardly contain myself. Ah, such plaisir!”
Since then, Wenger has dedicated his footballing genius to tactics that will ensure his team collapses like a souffle time and again.
He has combed Europe for the perfect combination of weak-kneed underachievers who can deliver the galling failure he craves.
Footballologist Wayne Hayes said: “When Van Persie achieved the sort of goalscoring consistency that might have seen Arsenal win something, anything, Wenger dropped hints to the player that he might be happier at a bigger club such as Manchester United.
“And when players such as Diaby and Jack Wilshere showed promise, Wenger would sneak into the kit room and butter the studs on their boots to ensure they slipped and suffered longterm injuries.
Wenger said that while he may look like he is suffering agonies on the touchline, he is actually experiencing a rare form of extreme pleasure: “It is for that reason I wear that long coat.
“When your team is losing, fans do not like to look down at their manager and see that he is in the throes of sexual arousal.”

Good point, although I'd take more comfort from that if we hadn't got almost all those points with Dembele in the team

I agree, but Arsenal have been performing no better than us this season, unlike say City who we played last week.

To be honest, whether its right or wrong, I get the feeling that a lot of peoples hopes have started resting on the fitness of one midfield player - Dembele. Losing Modric and VDV in the summer, then starting well with Dembele coming into the team, our form has dropped off badly with him injured. I almost felt like loading up the old shotgun when I read he wouldn't make the game, earlier today.

You feel this way because you're here, and here has been a festering pool of knee-jerking and blood boiling stupidity because we lost to two teams with the combined financial clout of a medium sized European country. They think that three months into a complete rethink is long enough time to wait before throwing toys out of the pram, which is a lot easier if you start extrapolating things about a chairman to suit your outlook.

I'm not exactly looking forward to Sat either, it's Stockholm syndrome.

Weirdly, i can only think of one set of supporters who are whinging and being negative as much as we are right now, and we're playing them on Saturday, could be the fan equivalent of depressed fire vs pathetic ice.

Indeed. This worries me though. Two teams, stuttering right now could get a big win and set themselves up for a better run. We're one of those teams. We've all been here before. How often is it Spurs that does the biz? We're the team you want to play in these circs. *sad face*

We've experienced a momentous period with Redknapp in charge, played some fantastic football and were looking (at least, hoping) to go one step(s) further with the appointment of AVB, but the transfer window killed us....... But let's see...

I agree, I am usually the first one to say "fuck up boys, lets grow a set and get behind the team" while I am still behind the team I fear I will also be hiding behind a cushion and fucking the remote out the window come half time. I really think we will get a lesson on Satarday, I think this is the first time in years I have felt this way. 2-1 to city flattered us emmensely had Tevez or Agero been on their usual form it could have been 4 or 5, lets be real.

The level of pessimism on this site is quite pathetic. I suspect most people with any sense have stayed away. It really is quite boring having to read the views of a bunch of paranoid pussies. Adversity should be seen as a challenge. Hang your heads in shame.

Btw the goons aren't exactly brimming with confidence given their defensive facilities and, as far as I know, they aren't missing anyone major.

The way our fans (and Arsenal's) have been at home this season, the fact this is at The Emirates could be our biggest advantage.

I fancy us to get a point at least.

The thing is both teams are struggling and about equal if you consider some of their players are not performing at the moment

Don't read the thread then. Hell, start a positive one even. Or just be really mature and keep on throwing around insults. That's a good look.
