The digs at Gomes are pathetic. He was a hero for us in that season we qualified for the CL. if he is as bad as some people want to believe, would watford have done s well?

He also slagged off the club after he left, not surprising there's some hostility.

If he's as good as you say then why was he playing in the Championship last season? And he isn't the only or main reason why Watford have done well.

Sorry I can't warm up to a player who slagged off my club. He just seemed like the type of person to blame people for his own failings, not take responsibility himself and that doesn't sit right with me.

Not forgetting the numerous times he'd mysteriously end up being stretchered off immediately after another clusterfuck of an attempted save.

I actually really liked him at first, and I won't forget his one great season for us, but after that his lack of self-respect was just embarrassing. In one game (after another for the blooper reel) he literally fell down, held his hands over his face, then just stayed like that until they had to carry him off. Replays confirmed injured pride and nothing more.

Has Erik Lamela got an axiety disorder or what? Cant look the interviewer in the face or string a sentence.
Not everyone is photogenic or is comfortable being interviewed especially when conducted in a foreign language. You would probably shit yourself if you were interviewed on Argentinian national tv in Spanish

Yeah. He was one of the Players who thought he was doing us a favour in playing for us. And thought we would be a stepping stone for something bigger. Well he has found his level.

I remember Capoue rolling around on the floor like a little girl at the Emirates, when the Goons beat us very early on in his first season with us. Then, it was depressing. Watching him doing it in other colours is amusing.

I have good memories of some super saves from Gomes, but they're over shadowed by some of the catastrophic howlers. I agree that he seemed to have a seriously weak mentality. This mentality would manifest itself for all to see, in both the regularly occurring mistakes on the pitch (he wasn't strong enough to recover from) and the post-off the pitch sulking.

He was a legend at PSV - "the Octopus"...was first choice for us during our CL year and previous (receiving huge support and patience, even throughout the blunders) - and then was weak and cowardly enough to pick up his fat pay cheque as his contract ran down as third choice keeper. Only making appearances for the club on Spurs TV as Sandro's comedy sidekick. A cowardly octopus. I'm not one to hate on ex-players (by any means) but he's not one I'd race to defend on here.

He certainly isn't anxious around his teammates! :) My friend's lad was a mascot at White Hart Lane a few weeks back - and Lamela had the young mascots in stitches by squirting all the other players (particularly Alli and Dier) with a water bottle. In front of the microphones and cameras...quiet as a mouse. Good way to be!

He's one of the reasons why we qualified for the CL for the first time in our history yet he's being vilkified for some comments he made when he was clearly frustrated in which he clarified on Twitter anyway, as far as I'm concerned he's done more good than bad for our club, its not as if players are turning us down due to his comments.

Sure, I've personally no problem with the guy, just pointing out why some people do.
