Indeed I did. In fact, I'd even like to take this opportunity to apologize to @allatsea for letting the booze get the best of my head that night. Didn't deserve that at all. However, don't let such a silly antic take away from the major point at hand. Yup. That's the long and short of it. We will obviously have funds available and we still have players that will be sold for pretty decent money. But, should the new manager come in and have the view that bringing youngsters in is valuable, I think it makes a ton of sense for us at this time. Whether we like it or not, we're looking at another transitional year. I feel that way even if a guy like LVG comes in. This year, apart from Eriksen, almost feels like a wasted year in the development of a lot of our players.

We can easily go to the Jupiler Pro League and Eredivisie to find those talents to build up our ranks and begin to bolster our side with high-upside youth. Viktor Fischer would be a coup in my opinion.

Tottenham are one of a number of clubs following the progress of Ajax winger Viktor Fischer after watching him last season.

The Dane is one of the most promising players at the Dutch club and, although his contract runs until June 2017, he is expected to be one of the next high-profile departures.

Spurs scouts watched Fischer, 20, in nearly every game in which he was involved during the final three months of the 2013-14 campaign. While a bid during this window is possible, it is thought Fischer is one of the club’s longer-term options.

Tottenham and Ajax have been in regular contact during recent seasons. Spurs signed Jan Vertonghen in 2012 and returned last summer to sign Fischer’s compatriot, Christian Eriksen. Both players adapted well to life at White Hart Lane and Vertonghen has been offered an extension to his contract.

Relations between the clubs became a little tense towards the end of last season, when Ajax boss Frank de Boer revealed he had been approached by Spurs about succeeding Tim Sherwood but they have not soured to the extent that the clubs cannot do business.
