Guys,

If the papers are anything to go by, then it looks like we could be wrapping up the re-signing of Defoe in the next few hours and (as a bit of a shock), a possible loan deal for Chimbo!

But what are your views on this?

I'll throw my 2-cents in first.

With regards to Defoe, if it does happen, then i'm more than happy to have him back at Spurs. Firstly, he's an out-an-out striker who has an eye for goal (more so than who we've got at the mo), but also, because he can make things happen on his own, rather than having to always rely on a strike partner.
However saying that, i also think it would be good for Bent OR Pav - in fact, i'm pretty sure Defoe and Bent played a decent few games together, so i'd love to see them strike up a solid partnership!
My main concern however is consistency, mostly based on confidence - there's no denying that when he's happy and confident, he plays seriously well, but he also has a tendency to let his head drop and drift out of games - lets just hope this won't be so much of a problem if Harry is on the case from the beginning.

Lastly, i'm loving the fact that he actually wants to play for us! He actively wants to come back to us, which makes me think he'll play hard for us aswell as he'll no doubt have something to prove!

Still not sure about the £15m price tag that is being bandied around!

So a big thumbs up from me (and as long as Frazier sticks around, then we'll have 4 decent strikers to choose from) - Fingers crossed!!

Now onto Chimbo - actually, i'm not that surprised that he's back on the radar. In my opinion (although he did probably ge a bit too big for his boots), i would've liked to have seen him stay! He was arguably the best RB we've had for ages, and he had a pretty good shot and goal ratio for a defender. He linked up well with Lennon, and i think he could work with Bentley too - overlapping for example.

As a loan deal, this could be a stroke of genuis - he can slot back into his RB position, freeing up Corluka to play in the Centre when needed.

However, i know many of you still haven't forgiven him for his storming off during the Carling Cup, and his overall antics during the latter half of that season. BUT, remember, he never got on with Ramos, so i'm sure things could be different with Harry!

Your thoughts??

I've got more faith in Gunter & Hutton than Chimbonda.....still leaves Corlurka to play in the middle.

Defoe will be a great signing as he loved playing for Tottenham & Harry.
Not sure about Chimbonda, that bloke is totally motivated by money & couldn't give two sh!ts about our club.

True! I prefer Gunter and Hutton too, but with Hutton injured and Gunter not getting as much game time as expected, and with a bottom half of the table fight on our hands, i wouldn't mind having a player back which can hopefully slot back into the team easily.

Plus, at a push he can also play CB if really needed.

I say bring him back!

Not interested in chimbonda at all. We have 3 better options at right back. And also that young lad who featured in preseason at right back, clearly not ready yet but to cover the odd game in the event of catastrophic series of injuries.

IF its true about hutton wanting to go back to Scotland then I can see a little bit of sense in a loan deal for him. Assuming we wont be picking up Johnson.

so if chimbonda only cares about money.....why first of all did he go to sunderland? and secondly....why does he want to come back to us....

if a player wants to play for us, and he is a good player then i say let it happen! and not to mention, it was ramos who drove him out! I doubt if chimbonda wanted to go atall!

I love Chimbo. I still think Defoe is overpriced but we are Spurs and know all about paying 5 million over the odds.

Chimbo was a bit petulant, and we dont really need him anymore. As far as Im concerned, any striker will do.

anyone that works for the team, isnt 2 dimentional and actually looks up and spots players to create chances insted of dropping his shoulder and blasting it at the keeper from 20 yards, i'ld rather keep bent as 1st choice

Me three.

Still, I suppose beggars can't be choosers. Defoe is better than noone, though I think more than a few out there are remembering his time with us a little too fondly.

Same with Chimbonda, we probably need more cover, RB or CB, and if there really isn't any better options out there - he'll have to do.

Shame what's happened since last feb.

I agree with this, really don't want Defoe back at the club. We should move on.
