Can’t see this happening. Firstly I doubt Chelsea would sell to us and secondly why would he leave their bench for ours if he wants playing time?

Firstly Chelsea would never sell to us so a waste of time.

Secondly, this would only work if he was coming in to replace Tanganga and we also signed another top CB on top of this deal.

Otherwise signing Chelsea’s reserve CB when they are going for Fofana would be ridiculous

Decent player but we don’t do business with them lot.

So non starter IMO.

Hard to see us doing business with Chelsea but maybe their new owner is more open to it. Chalobah however would be a decent signing. Solid defender, HG and is way better on the ball then Tanganga.

This link makes little sense to me.

If he isn’t up to quality for Chelsea, then he’s not good enough for us. If he is, then they won’t sell, let alone to a rival.

Outside of my own bias, I don’t see why he’d join us over staying at Chelsea.

They don’t need the money.

None of this link makes any sense.

Welcome everyone to the Chalobah thread drinking game. Please take a shot everytime:

1. Someone says Chelsea don't need the money.
2. Someone asks why he would trade the Chelsea bench for ours.
3. Someone notes Chelsea don't do business with Spurs.
4. Someone uses phrase "makes no sense".

Please remember to drink responsibly and should you die before even getting 3 posts into this thread, be sure and call a cab to the afterlife. Never drink and drive. (y)

Not going to be a popular opinion but I'd actually rather we went in for Maguire if he's available - reckon Conte would turn him around, you only have to look at Dier.

Fuck that. He’s the typical old school English centre back. All physical strength and “leadership“ but very little skill or craft, or speed. Just because he’s big like Dier doesn’t mean they’re similar - remember Dier is a converted midfielder.

It makes no sense that Chelsea would sell to us. Why would he trade Chelseas bench for ours, thinking about it Chelsea don't need the money

One of Maguire’s best attributes is ironically being a playmaking defender, bringing the ball out from the back, it’s why we were linked with him under Poch when we played 3 at the back for a season.

He would be far more suited to our system, I just think he’s completely shot of confidence, the fans hate him and he needs a fresh start.

I only mentioned Maguire cause I’d assume the Chalobah link is because we’re looking for a home-grown backup option.

Fair points. But a player of Maguire’s experience and expense, he’s no backup option.

If the club wasn't Chelsea and the player wasn't Chalobah, we should be all over this one.

He’s no playmaker. He’s a blunt tool.
