This is their version of Dan KP at the standard -

Trevoh Chalobah has loan offers from Tottenham, RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma on the table but must wait for Chelsea to sign a defender before he can leave.

I still think our defence needs one more top quality centre half to bring us up to speed. Chalobah would be a homegrown quick fix and not at all what is required. Horse trading (Tanganga out/Chalobah in) would be pointless, imo.

I genuinely dont think we will spend big on a defender this summer. I suspect it is next summer we will spend big on Bastoni or one of the others we wanted from RB Leipzig.

Its building blocks summer after summer. Cant get everyone we want in one summer.

While I agree on the face of it that it looks almost a like for like swap for Tanganga, Chalobah has played alot more senior games than Japhet at the same age. Albeit a large chunk in lower leagues.

Chalobah on loan isn't the big CB signing I was hoping we'd make...

Probably a result of nobody wanting to pay a transfer fee for the players we cant sell. No money as usual, despite having the tv money, a fuck off huge stadium producing over £100m a year plus that £150 million draw down business....

If we do that it's another Lenglet, we think he's better than Tanganga and so if we loan him it allows us to see who's available next summer. Massively get the frustration though and it wouldn't be what i'd be doing either as I still think there's a few quality CB options out there.

I wonder if the difficulty we're having in offloading our unwanted players is making us wary about buying players permanently unless they're first choices, and so if we're bringing in second choices we only want loans?

EDIT: An example being that we would have been happy to buy Bastoni but for Lenglet we'd only do a loan.

The problem here is more the central role than the left side though. Bastoni or Gvardiol wouldn't play there and for the moment we've got Lenglet who whilst the jury is out seems like an adequate option.

Skriniar, Tapsoba, Lacroix, Pavard, De Vrij to name a few would all improve us. As HG options we could go for Guehi or Tomori.

Agree about the central role as we really dont have a Dier rotation and in my view Dier is vital in that defence. Not sure Chalobah though would be someone we would be comfortable rotating his position with.

4 goals and 2 assists in 31 appearances. 1.90m tall. CL experience. Home grown.

I get it. Because we are potentially waiting on Bastoni next year. Right?

wow, I’ve said something positive!

Not going to be a popular opinion but I'd actually rather we went in for Maguire if he's available - reckon Conte would turn him around, you only have to look at Dier.
I have thought this for ages.

He would be great with renewed confidence in a back three under Conte.

Thought this stat was interesting. Obviously I take it with a bit of salt but if we could get him on a loan with an option I'd be pleased. Puts us completely in the driver seat to see if he gets time with us, makes an impact, and can reassess next Summer. Plus being HG gives us more flexibility for an attacking player, which I'm not too high on many of the HG options there.

I don't think it will happen due to the relationship with Chelsea and him wanting clear playing time, but if it were to happen I would back it.
