I predicted 3-1 as well. :(

Terrible. No one should be denied such a tidbit of pride on account of such a terrible call.

Also don't appreciate the lost goal in the goal differential tally :meh: Not sure whether we should be embarrassed or proud of the fact we've been towards the top of the table with such laughably low GD's the last two seasons.

Mate, I've been saying there's a personnel problem for a long time, but then everyone insisted it was AVB's mind control program.

I think 433 would help, but formations are never the bottom line, it's what you do within them, what gets coached. This season is a write off for me, regardless of where we finish, we are winning games the same way we did under AVB, but looking less sound defensively while we do it, controlling less of games too (although not today). I just hope that a full pre-season, a couple of personnel tweaks, and the integration of more development players with better ethos makes a difference, but it really does need to improve, because I can't really see any defined ethos, and we are not particularly well organised either (like Suthampton are for example).

It may be sporadic at the moment, in terms of quality, but there's a lot more to like in some of the games in recent weeks - Everton and Chelsea in particular, than we ever saw in AVB's team for the most part.

Thing is, how much will we care later? Or tomorrow? We are often on the receiving end of major, major bad calls that simply don't happen to other teams with such regularity. They are not even borderline. I'm not on about 'was it handball or not' that go either way

Mendes, Chelsea away, Chelsea in the semi at Wembley, Webb at Man Ure when giving them a penalty in 2009 when we were 2-0 up and comfy. Foy at Stoke the other year. Several extremely dodgy red cards last year. And now this.

Even though we won the game, we need to kick up a major stink. On social media. Radio phone ins. Everywhere. Otherwise the incompetent referee governing body will wash it under the carpet and move on.

I'm sure i'm not the only spurs fan/football fan that feels like the 'refs are against us' but it is something I have felt strongly for many years, there have been too many monumental clusterfucks where we have been on the receiving end and the club/players/manager do not make enough of a deal about it.

Foy and his team should be fined, banned, demoted. The lot. I can't believe that is just down to 'innocent' incompetence

I agree.

On a lighter note imagine that being against the bin dippers and them having one of those scouse commentators ...."That's never a goal - he's offside ref ffs, offside I tell you, offside .....................................................................................Oh he actually IS offside, thanks ref"

How's was ades cameo?
Jogged about a bit, miscontrolled, fell over, sat down and complained to the ref.

All good stuff, until we were 2-1 up when he showed great desire to erm... run the ball into the corner? and play keep ball

Oh I completely agree. This doesn't overshadow the fact we've still consistently struggled to break down a side that sits back against us.

Very pleased for Townsend to set up that goal. He provided us what we needed, pace, aggression, and the will to run right at defenders, and we reaped the benefit of it. We need more, as one man is not enough and even then, Townsend still has much room for improvement.

We tend to struggle against the weaker teams who sit off us,but the better sides allow us to play this has been a problem since the days of Harry.

I may be fighting against the grain here, but I thought he actually did alright. Only made one glaring mistake when he omitted spotting a very open Chadli making a run into the box, but other than that maintained possession outside the box, made a few good balls, and brought down the ball out of the air very well to lay off to others in the box.

He actually even made a couple tackles in the press, and quickly made runs on the back of them.

That pathetic decision from the linesman might not just come back to haunt us. Imagine if some team ends up getting relegated because Sunderland have a better goal difference by one?

I can understand that mistakes get made, but clearly that official is too stupid to exist.

It's really weird as well because when I saw the keeper go up I thought to myself, it's about time one of these got sprung and punished.
We played it so well as well which just makes the decision more frustrating. So often players are too eager in those situations but we broke away and set up a clear shot at goal rather than having an ambitious effort from our own half (although would probably still have been ruled out).

You're right, but I think it's gotten worse. With Bale and Lennon wide, we had the pace to counter and Modric to ping them, and then Bale went superstar in 2012/13 and could score from anywhere. Ever since then, we've just gotten worse as we're so poor about getting the ball forward quickly and aggressively enough.

We did, but it was only a handful of teams. And mostly when we scored first we would eventually blow them away. It only happened 2 or 3 times a season at home under Harry. Under AVB and Poch so far we really do seem to struggle to blow anyone away. We simply don't move the ball as fast as we used to.

I like how you don't even consider the fact we could miss out on 4th on GD. We'll probably have a -30 GD on Arsenal or Southampton by then anyway!

Adebayor played better in his 30 mins than Soldado did in his 60 mins IMO. Albeit that's damning with faint praise.

we have to come up with some different solutions to break teams down, not just rely on last minute winners from CE.
