I'm finding it difficult to be excited about this... It's all meh.

I'm sure I'll be alright once game is on but for now I'm just gonna enjoy my scrambled egg wrap and look forward to the Ruby

I'm not quite as apathetic as that, but I do know exactly what you mean. The buzz has diminished a bit of late.

It's the negativity that's coming out of the club at the moment that's a worry to me.
There was Kane saying last week before the Gent game that it doesn't matter if we don't win anything this season and Poch yesterday saying the team isn't ready to win a trophy at the moment.
It hardly gives the team confidence and I think it showed in their play on Thursday. If they have the attitude that it doesn't matter then it will be transfered to the pitch.
If we don't start getting it together soon then I can see Millwall turning us over and then the season is finished.

This is a very important game for us, if we can put a good performance in and win the game then hopefully we can get some form back for the rest of the season.

I just don't know how we can be so on and off like a switch all the time. Some days brilliant, some days dogshit.

Like, just copy what you did when you played well!! Just do that!

Maybe I'm reading too little into it, and there's far more to it than that.

Although I will counter my own argument, and remember back to my playing days, I guess not every game you play the same way. I know I didn't. Depended on the opposition. Depended how I felt, how confident I was in having the pace to beat the right back etc etc. So I guess there's more to it.

Not sure what the pertinent message is in this post tbh.. zzz

That undervalues the importance of what the opponents do, of each opponent's style of play and their varying effectiveness from match to match.

For instance, the last couple of times we played Stoke they just left us way too much space in midfield, much like Fulham last week. Give us that and we'll run all over you. It's a different matter entirely when a disciplined team plays a high-energy pressing game against us or drops back with 10 men behind the ball and says "they shall not pass".

When there is no room and we are being rushed, passes go astray and youthful psyches get rattled. Where there is an adamant commitment to ruining the game by blocking and countering, we get frustrated, take unwise risks and get picked off.

No one style works well against every opponent. The key is to have a theme that runs through our play, but also to have enough flexibility to adapt it against differing opponents. People here tend to focus on the team selection and the formation. I often think that the manager's instructions and subtleties of the set-up to counter the opponents of the day are at least as important

Wow - that Stoke lineup looks garbage to say the least. Allen, Arnautovic the only decent players.

Might as well slim it down to a 16 player squad next season. Poch won't use others regardless of how his first eleven perform.
