Thinktank I don't disagree with this, but you miss out the main problem... The players who are in our key creative positions (Eriksen, Lamela, Capoue), be it because of age/experience/whatever, all seem to be of the same ilk and mentality - With an armchair ride they look like world beaters, but the second any pressure gets put upon them or the game gets into a bit of a battle or the tempo increases they get blown away. When we are most crying out for these players to keep hold of the ball and keep things ticking and then patiently wait for the opening all we get is poor decision making and the ball getting coughed up and given away. These are the players that the team has been built around, and if they cant step up to the plate and function when the pressure (and that from Newcastle today wasn't even that much of an examination to be fair) is on then we will keep having real problems and the team will fall apart. They need to step up to the plate.
A few posts back I said we may have to settle on either lamela or eriksen as #10, effectively pitting them against each other for the spot. Playing both of them doesn't seem to be working in the 3.

Capoue brings a lot to the table imo and he works extremely well with Mason. Could he be more gritty/intense at times...yes, but I'd stick with him for his overall game and his passing ability.

We are going to have to go through an evolution though and it's obviously going to be a long - and sometimes painful - one.

We have deep dysfunction here it needs to be remedied. There is no quick fix.

Today was totally unforgivable all-round; poch conned himself out of a win today starting Ade. He needs to drop him very soon or he's going to start scaring me.

Don't scare me, poch.

. It's no surprise our best players recently are ones that have come up through the youth system, Kane Mason Bentaleb, Rose to a lesser extent, and Townsend. Get these boys playing together again week in week out and we might start seeing some goals and points on the board.

Townsend has done nothing even when given the chance unfortunately and Bentaleb has hardly played, let alone been our best player in the games he has played.

I don't have a huge negative agenda against them, but lest not re-write stuff.

Did we spend a fortune last summer to address our glaring needs at centre-back, striker, left-wing forward, and central midfield? We opted for lesser squad players because we didn't have enough money in incoming transfer fees to cover the cost of buying Schneiderlin, Mussachio, and Remy.

Give me some examples of players that you believe would have us improve on our 69 point haul from last season (one of the best in the club's history) and you'll immediately see that those players wouldn't have been attainable because they cost more money.

Schneiderlin dodge a bullet coming here didn't he! Remy was never going to join us and he's ended up at Chelsea. Siggy was moved on and is playing in his correct position and playing superbly. We bought him and said, hey please play out on the left where you'll be ineffective.

Its my birthday today so they have to win today - it's the law!
Well Poch obviously doesn't know the law does he!!! I've just back from lunch so haven't found out much except my brother who was at the game said it was "pathetic" and relegation form. Was it that poor?

Selling Dawson was a mistake in my opinion. The one player you could identify with and the one player who played with passion.

Selling Sandro was a mistake too I think. Chap wore his heart on his sleeve.

This team has no heart or desire.

There's a reason we are probably going to go far in Europa and Carling Cup, and it's not down the shit we play against but because the players that play in those games, by and large the ones that are a bit more arsed, have a bit if desire and fight. It's no surprise our best players recently are ones that have come up through the youth system, Kane Mason Bentaleb, Rose to a lesser extent, and Townsend. Get these boys playing together again week in week out and we might start seeing some goals and points on the board.

Sorry we were still Shit with Sandro and Dawson if you think they would make a difference you are dreaming!!

Key problems are: wrong chemistry up front; no proper fullback effectiveness for the shape we play (even though rose has come good in many ways his final ball is lacking and he doesn't overlap enough); instability/inconsistency in defense.

With Walker back and Yedlin coming in we will have the pace we need down that flank; Ade needs to be dropped and we need to settle on a CB pairing in the prem...I have a suspicion that dier would be our most stable option at rCB.

Yes re Dier. He started there on the opening day, then naughton got his red card and he's not played there since. Feel a bit for him to be honest, he seems a good kid.
I wonder would it be worth swapping him and Kaboul until naughton's back or is Kaboul past being able to cover at right back?

I still believe that MoPo will be given the time to succeed and he will do so. In January he will add the winger-striker he desperately needs and once walker is back we'll have far better width, counter attacking and crossing threat.

I just wish that Adebayor was gone.

What really pisses me off is how I let some dudes kicking around a ball on grass half way around the world dictate my mood. Utter nonsense

Agreed. Right now I'm thinking how I can adapt Allen Carr's easyway to quit smoking into the easyway to quit Tottenham.

I can quit smoking but not Tottenham. How can that be explained?

Whilst i agree with the majority of this, we did score first with Ade and then promptly shit the bed, Ade in all honesty should have been taken off with Lamela.

Today's game reminded me of watching Spurs under Juande Ramos, a bunch of overpaid nobodies, prancing about the place as we get soundly beaten by a supposedly lesser side with more heart, desire and organisation. The inevitability of the result after we went behind was sickening to watch, the players seemingly having no fight or urgency to move the ball once we were behind.

"@YounsKabs4: We were not focused at the start of the 2nd half. At 1-1 we tried to push but they scored and then our confidence went down."

Could you imagine those words from Roy Keane or Patrick Vieira? Me neither. A sad indictment of the pathetic mental attitude that is pervasive at our club. Harry tried to fix it bringing in Gallas and Parker.

Lamela is out of excuses, he takes ten touches when one would do and most importantly he never seems to have a picture in his mind of what he wants to de before he receives the ball, instead he gets it, controls it, takes a few more touches and then has a think about what he wants to do before giving it away.

Eriksen was anonymous.

The less said about Dier's performance today the better.

The one thing I can't understand is we bought three players in Fazio, Stambouli and Davies, essentially for no reason as none are even close to the first team. Would we not have been better of spending that money on one of Mussachio or Schneiderlin, why do we consistently buy average players? It's just throwing money down the drain.

I am expecting a relegation battle now, the funny thing is watching Spurs for me is becoming tantamount to watching the same movie over and over on repeat....this is Juande Ramos' team all over again.

Thing is we have tried everything, changing managers and players constantly for no benefit other than steady regression.

Frankly I'm just bored of it all...no need to let these tossers ruin my weekends.

If he wants to maximise Lamela then he needs to play Soldado. Ade and Lamela have shown zero signs of clicking, if anything Ade's style hinders Lamela's performance

I am sorry you cannot blame Lamela`s performance on Adebayor... Currently he is not GOOD ENOUGH !! he basically a LUXURY player with little end product.

Stop making ridiculous excuses for him. Poch knew what he was signing up for (at least i hope he did) and i hope he can turn things around but i have to say that the results have been demoralizing. Even under the much maligned sherwood, we looked better and consistently beat the teams outside the top 6.
Poch was aware of depth of our dysfunction? Explain that to me.

He's on a learning curve, it's just the way it is.

Nothing 'ridiculous' about what I've said...joseph.

His main mistake was playing Ade today and I've already laid that firmly at his feet a few times.
