Imagine if Woolwich's amazing season culminated in blowing the title and us getting bought by Qataris...

They will probably just point out that some members of the Qatari royal family are Arsenal fans, it's what they tried to do with Kane.

This is the twitter account of the former Emir Khalifah Bin Hamad Al Thani.

edit: I should note that personally, I don't think it makes the slightest bit of difference.

I spoke to someone earlier who has had dealings with the Saudi's at City the new regime at Newcastle, and also QSI.

His opinion(very educated) is that their desire to buy into the EPL is basically a flex because of the Saudi's and UAE already being here. His opinion(again educated) is that they have basically reached their ceiling with PSG and to beat their neighbours in the Prem would be far more of a status/ego boost than winning the CL. He said that while sports washing is without question a thing he doesn't believe that's what this is about. It's about status and image like 3 kids in a playground arguing about who's dad is the hardest. They will want money spent on the team if they buy in because being second rate does nothing for their image.
Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to buy ManU or Liverpool and sell PSG?
Finding a buyer for them might be problem though.

I feel like a terrible person, because I’d be happy if this happened. For forty years I’ve wanted us to have the same financial clout as the biggest teams. And then Roman came along, then the UAE at City and then the Saudis at Newcastle. While we have Danny and his shenanigans in the transfer market. I just want to see us win something. Three trophies since 1984. Two League Cups and one FA Cup!

I am all too aware of sportswashing and lord knows I bitched and moaned about the Newcastle take over. But if QSI want to take over a portion of the club and want to give us an actual chest with money and give it and the key to Paratici (with an anti Levy security measure), that would be awesome. I’d love it. And I truly do feel two faced about it.
I like your honesty

It is evil for sure. But then so is dreaming of seeing planes full of immigrants who've come to the UK to seek asylum from terrible regimes (perhaps even the Qatari one) being flown to Rwanda. And yet this is the dream of our current home secretary.
This is very true! Our regime isn't terrible because there are cultural, legal and political constraints in place. But given the chance.......

Part of me would love to see us competing for the best players and despite my moral concerns I reckon I'd get over where the money came from. But ultimately I think I've lost the love for it. Last weekend I didn't even know when our match was until I looked at my phone for something else and saw the goal alert. I couldn't even tell you when this weekend the nld is on!

I've watched virtually every single match we have played for at least the last 20 years!

It just no longer brings me much joy.

What made me believe there is some substance in all this talk is that sudden change of stance from Simon Jordan. He knows something, surely.

Here is article:

QATAR UNLIKELY TO BUY SPURS

Daniel Levy’s meeting with Qatar Sports Investments chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi earlier this month is unlikely to lead to the company buying into Tottenham, as UEFA rules would restrict them to purchasing a minority stake.

Tottenham owner Joe Lewis’s preference is a full sale as he seeks an exit strategy after 23 years, which would be beyond QSI given their ownership of Paris Saint-Germain.

QSI have also dismissed suggestions of a naming rights deal for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with sources pointing out that they have not sold naming rights for the Parc des Princes in the 12 years they have owned PSG.

Matt Hughes, the gooner, once of the Times and now of the Mail. He’s never written a positive article on THFC in his life (I’ve mentioned it before) so treat his articles with scepticism. He’s been rarely accurate in the past.

What did he say?
Initially he completely dismissed the story out right and then 2 days later he's talking about how worried he is that oil states are buying into the game so didn't dismiss it at all then so it is a bit of a change. If he was convinced it still wasn't happening then he would have said so again

I think the fact he changes his stance while confirming he met Al Kheliefi the night before is the big thing. Would’ve clearly spoken to him about it.

They were talking on Totally about how they want to be in Paris for the Olympics, so that would mean keeping hold of PSG until at least autumn next year. I think they're looking to expand their footballing interests rather than just hop over to the PL though, much like the UAE has done with their City group. Can't do much in Germany (unless they do a Leipzig) but here, Spain and Italy are all open for them to extend into.

If you're a sports writer or TV/radio pundit, you have to be as honest and as objective as possible on everything if you want to be taken seriously. As the great Richie Benaud once said, for a commentator there's no such team as 'us' or 'them'.

I'd love a bit of news on the other investors were rumoured to be talking to

I would think we would be an attractive proposition considering the infrastructure and future TV rights.
An expensive proposition. We are the finished article off the pitch, but not so on it. Chelsea pre Abramovich, City and Newcastle were bought for peanuts, which I think is more attractive to state owned or oligarchy investors. Even PSG was cheap purchase

I can’t see FFP being an issue personally, given our match day revenue, commercial success and a legitimate reason to ask mega bucks for a stadium deal given its world wide appeal across markets (nfl, gaming, concerts, boxing etc.)

Very different to City and Newcastle in those respects.
City and Newcastle will have lucrative and over priced commercial deals from owners other businesses to navigate around FFP
