Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng this summer. The veteran defender is set to leave Bayern when his contract expires at the end of the season, with the club's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirming the news last month.

Wasn’t exactly a succes’s at City, but surely he has matured as a player.

i’m general a fan of any change in the CD-positions. So “HerzlichWilkommen” ....

CB is our most vital position in need of an upgrade. We should not be trying to fix it with a free transfer of a player who's already been a flop in the EPL. Get yer wallet out Levy!

Wierd post, he's been excellant at Bayern and come with a lot of experience. If we can sign him and someone like Andersen that's a massive upgrade on Sanchez and Dier.

Look here SC
I have heard recently that he is useful/useless. I know the name but have no idea of how good he is.
So is he worth a punt?

Utterly pointless. His pace has gone so impossible to play any kind of pressing football with him in the team. Would have been good for Jose but mercifully that isn't a thing any more.

I'm sorry but if Jerome Boateng is someone we snub our noses at, then the level of dellusion among Spurs fans is simply stratospheric.
I remember the same talk when we signed Gallas, and he was a rock for us.
Same as Woodgate.

Strange, he's only missed 8 matches for Bayern this season in all comps?

There's additional benefits to player with that much experience, to the likes of Rodon etc.

Worth a punt and what's there to lose?

So you'd like to give a player who's already lost all of his pace a few years on a contract. The very epitome of papering over the cracks.

Just thinking back to the impact Naybet made, we could do a lot worse than this

That said, I look to Toby to provide that in the current set up

Why does it have to be a 5 year contract?

Also where is this lost all his pace come from? He played the majority of matches for Bayern who play the highest high line in Europe so he must still have some pace on him.

Chelsea bought in Thiago Silva last year on a 1 year deal which is actually paying dividends, why are we so against bringing in Boateng in that respect?

Who’s our next manager?

Why not, has his pace gone?
Chelsea signed Thiago Silva who is 36
United signed Edison Cavani, just turned 34.
They pretty damn good still.
Boateng and Anderson would be brilliant.

Unless our new central defender is the perfect physical and footballing love child of Lothar Matthaus and Franz Beckenbauer then quite frankly he will not be of the required standard for a club hoping to squeak 4th place ahead of Leicester City next season. ?

Frankly I can't see what the World Cup winning, double Champions League winning, 8-time Bundesliga Champion can possibly bring to the party at trophy starved Spurs. If he can't do the 100m in less than 10 seconds then he's just Eric Dier 2.0
