If I had my choice it would be Swansea or Villa.

I just wonder whether Lambert would take a punt on him, sneaky feeling he just might.

I'd love him to go to Swansea, but not sure he'd get the game time.

Send him to Ajax for a year as part of the Eriksen deal. Don't take away any money or anything, just offer him to them as a backup in case they struggle to find a replacement for the dane. We could even pay his wages while he was there.

Edit: As my post history might give away, I just want us to send all our youngsters to Ajax tbh

Lambert would be a good coach for Tom, that is a great shout..

Agreed.

He's also better than any of their midfielders who regularly play. Although Lambert favours a similar style to us in that his 3 midfielders are brawny fuckers who just press for 90 mins.

He offers a level of creativity and incisive passing that none of our powerhouse in the mid offer apart from Holtby. If he gets a good loan spell, i can see AVB bringing him back around the first team next season so he can play as a creative mid in a midfield three with a DM and a box to box player.

Those 2 clubs would be great for him as they have good coaches/managers and play decent football (very good football in Swansea's case), but I'd be concerned that he wouldn't get much game time at those clubs.

Sandro (24)
Dembele (26)
Paulinho (25)
Capoue (25)
Holtby (22)
Sigurdsson (23) - possibly leaving
Eriksen (21)

I find it really strange (but still awesome) to think Dembele is the 'experienced' midfielder out of that lot, he still seems young to me.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but Ajax already have 3 potential in-house replacements for Eriksen (Fischer, Klaassen, and Serero) whom are highly rated at the club (especially Fischer, although he's seen success at LW), and they're about to purchase a 4th potential replacement in Lerin Duarte. And knowing them they probably have 10 other kid prodigys in the pipeline whom could play there and be the next Eriksen. They don't need our charity ;)

If he can't get games with us regularly, then a loan to a team that has a lot of midfield posession (Swansea, Southampton etc) would be ideal. But the main thing is games at the right level for his development. Top 6 championship/bottom to mid Premiership I would suggest.

Definite star of the future. There will be games where we don't need all of the power we have in MF and also ones where we wear opponents down and can then deploy players like TC. I'd like to see him at Swansea or Norwich though to bring him on. We have so much available to us in midfield (even before Eriksen), but I really think Carroll could make it.

Football can change so quick, that I wouldn't worry about him wanting more games next season if he has a decent loan this season. If Paulinho has an amazing season, maybe Juve or Inter come in for him. If Capoue is a beast all year then maybe PSG or Monaco come in for him. Maybe Bayern try and sign Holtby if he has a great season. You just never know what will happen.

If we're in the CL then it's easier for us to keep hold of players but even that is no guarantee.

If Everton came in for him for a 6 month loan, could that be too close for for comfort? At what level of club could we allow him to play.

What about the scum, could we handle that?

Personally I think AVB wants to bring him through himself.

I get all your points except this one, Inter are a step down from us atm.

I wasn't stunned by his progress the other night given the freedom of the pitch against very poor opposition

Sorry but I don't see it. At best a poor mans Joe Allen (who I don't rate either) reminds me of Stephen Clemence!! Even Darren Caskey was a better prospect, whatever happened to him!

Lets be honest Tom Carrol is never going to be a top class central midfield player. He's tidy playing around a group of very good players, nothing else
