Beds are so last year anyways - just fuck in the toilets, showers, kitchen, floor, up against the wall etc etc etc

Yeah I'm sure world class athletes in peak shape can figure out how to fuck without a bed.

Fucking love the olympics. So much skill, so much athleticism. Looking forward to three weeks of it!

2 SA footballers tested positive today, and a rugby coach having already tested positive.

GB have 8 self isolating
Just as a follow-up as I was doing some more digging, here are some additional athletes that have been affected by COVID:

  • Thabiso Monyane and Kamohelo Mahlatsi - July 19: Monyane and Mahlatsi, two players for the South African soccer team, have both tested positive for COVID along with team video analyst Mario Masha.
  • Ondrej Perusic - July 19: Perusic, a 26 year old beach volleyball player from the Czech Republic, tested positive for COVID while in the Olympic Village in Tokyo.
  • Katie Lou Samuelson - July 19: Samuelson, a member of the United States' 3 on 3 basketball team, tested positive for COVID and will be unable to play in the Olympics. She will be replaced on the team by Jackie Young.
  • Neil Powell - July 19: Powell, the South Africa Sevens rugby coach, tested positive for COVID upon his arrival in Japan.
  • Kara Eaker - July 19: The United States Olympic Committee confirmed that Kara Eaker, an alternate on the U.S. Gymnastics team, tested positive for COVID.
  • Coco Gauff - July 18: Gauff, a 17 year old tennis player for the United States, has withdrawn from the Olympics due to a positive COVID test. Gauff had been slated to be the youngest tennis player in the Olympics in over 20 years.
  • Team GB - July 18: Six members of the Great Britain Olympic team were reportedly forced to go into isolation after being exposed to a COVID case while on a flight to Tokyo. The athletes in question will be able to leave isolation upon passing two PCR tests.
  • Bradley Beal - July 15: Beal and Jerami Grant, two members of the U.S. Basketball team, have both been placed in health & safety protocols. While Beal has been ruled out for the Olympics, there is still hope that Grant will be able to make the trip to Tokyo, as Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Grant did not test positive for COVID.
  • Alex de Minaur - July 10: Alex de Minaur, the No. 17-ranked tennis player in the world and the top-ranked Australian, has withdrawn from the Olympics after a positive COVID test.

So far:
  • the creative chief quit after suggesting that a plus-size comedian could appear as an "Olympig"
  • the head of the organising committee quit after he said women talked too much and that meetings with many female board members took a lot of time
  • a composer working on the opening ceremony quit earlier this week after it emerged he had bullied classmates with disabilities at school and boasted about it in a magazine interview
  • rising Covid case numbers among athletes and officials
  • and today the opening ceremony director has been sacked for a Holocaust joke
These Olympics are going swimmingly.

I see one of our gold medal hopefuls Amber Hill is out due to testing positive. Luckily she is still only young so hopefully it won't be her only chance but she must be devastated

Very poor taste. But also 23 years ago. Not excusing what was said, but for me, not the same as if he said it yesterday.

But given all the other resignations from similar scandals he had to go. I can only assume the Japanese didn't bother with vetting their key figures.

Yeah, probably had to go. That said, Asian countries didn't necessarily have a problem with those kind of jokes the. Though times and cultural norms have shifted, I know Korean TV shows would regularly have characters in blackface up to about 10 years ago. Not the same, but there was a lack of appreciation of why those things were inappropriate. Thankfully the younger generation has a different mindset.

The standard of football at the olympics is pretty poor certainly from the European sides in the two games I’ve watched today. Can tell that France and Germany have just thrown there teams together.
BBC commentators are awful and going way over the top about Brazil and richarlisons performances in this game

On the womens side though, stunning scenes as Zambia hold the netherlands to only 10

Football in the Olympics is utterly pointless. The Euros being always the same year as the Olympics, domestic league schedules and the lack of importance of the Olympics to football means European nations aren't going to send strong sides.

Personally, I think the only sports that should be included in the Olympics are those where the gold medal is considered the pinnacle of the sport.

Women's football actually holds the Olympic gold on par with or bigger than the world title though. Netherlands, USA, Sweden et al will all send their absolute best, and then you get a few no hopers from the other continents who are nowhere near.

That's why Sweden's drubbing of the US yesterday was actually quite a big deal.

This opening ceremony better have a Gundam fighting Godzilla or a samurai riding Yoshi into battle against a pokemon.

Tried to get my 6 year old to watch the opening ceremony but had to give in and admit we were both bored to tears. Did it get any better?
