Hey guys, hope you are all well.

I just wanted to get everyones thoughts on our younger players that we have. (excluding bale!)

The brief emmergence oof Danny Rose has been great, and still lots to look forward too,

We have many many players out on loan for different positions! One in particular (personally) Kyle Walker, i think he is outstanding at right back defensively and going forward.

Has anyone been monitoring any players frequently?? Any one we should definatly give chances to next season?

Rose, ironically, has been pretty poor (or at least not exceptional in any way) when out on loan. When he has played for the first XI at Spurs he's looked very good

Caulker, a centre back, looks to be a real prospect. Strong, quick, good in the air, reads the game pretty well, and has bags of experience for someone of his age. Just needs some Premiership experience and I think he could be a star.

I also like Townsend, I think he could be a decent backup for our pacey wingers. Done pretty well on loan although like a lot of wingers can blow hot and cold if they arent involved in the game or doubled-up on.

K Walker will probably be kept at the club next season, Naughton will go out on loan (I'd like to see him in the PL). The boys at orient have done fairly well - M'Poku is the Belgium U19 captain, Kane done very well for our youth team and scored some goals for Orient, although I think he needs to toughen/sharpen up a touch, but then that's the purpose of going out on loan and playing real football. Carroll impressed me with his passing and off the ball movement in central midfield, but he is very lightweight.

There is some good young talent at the club, some more progressed than others, some with more potential than others. Some need more professional football, some need to be tried out in our first team. Rose has come into the first team because we didn't buy several left backs like we did with right backs. Hopefully, with Europa League football, we will see more youngsters like Parrett, Bostock, perhaps Livermore getting game time.

M'poku at Orient, most of the things being said about him now are almost exactly the same things as said about Taarabt when we first laid hands on him - exciting and technically very good, but sometimes doesn't look up, or goes a step too far, and it can be frustrating for team mates, but overall a very good prospect from what i hear. Kane looked immense for our junior side but still looks lacking in areas, and there's no way he'll last 90 minutes at Championship level, let alone Prem. Really needs to work on his pace and stamina.

How has Parrett been doing? He was supposed to be a real prospect but I haven't heard very much on him in the last year or so.

Kinda on topic but found it quite amusing regards Caulker :)

caulk also calk (kôk)v. caulked also calked, caulk·ing also calk·ing, caulks also calks
v.tr.1. To make watertight or airtight by filling or sealing: caulk a pipe joint; caulked the cracks between the boards with mud.
2. Nautical To make (a boat) watertight by packing seams with a waterproof material, such as oakum or pitch.

My take on our youth players

a few to look out for, but most of these players dont play for our academy anymore since they'll now be first team/"professionals" as the club lists them

Steven Caulker
Kyle Walker
Danny Rose
Andros Townsend
Harry Kane
Tom Carroll
Paul Jose M'Poku
Kudus Oyenuga
Dean Parrett
Mirko Raineri
Jake Nicholson

a few who have massive potential but I feel wont make it are (some of these players have several other players ahead of them and wont want to sit around waiting to play either).

John Bostock
Jonathan Obika
Kyle Naughton
Adam Smith
Ryan Mason

Actual u18s who I rate through reports from people who go to Spurs Lodge to watch games are

Massimo Luongo (been fantastic all season for the u18s, from Australia) for some reason he's not listed in our academy section.
Jack Munns
Ryan Fredericks (who made the bench for 1/2 games last season)
Alex Pritchard
Harry Kane (who at 18 this summer is IMO our best academy player)
Kudus Oyneuga (big striker, out on loan in Finland to gain experience)

Bit dated but perhaps a more detailed report on Caulker as of Dec'10 worrying comment midway, very similar to Bassong.

‘Caulk’ v. - to make watertight or airtight by filling or sealing. This definition could scarcely be more apt for 18 year-old Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Steven Caulker, whose impressive performances in shutting out the opposition on loan at Bristol City can’t have failed to grab the attention of Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.

Caulker moved to Ashton Gate just days after making his Spurs debut in the Carling Cup North London derby at White Hart Lane and his performances for Keith Millen’s Robins side earned him a first England U21 cap last month, coming on as a substitute in the game against Germany.

Successive clean sheets have helped Bristol City to record back-to-back wins as they recover from their dreadful start to the season and, while Caulker has been a key factor in this, he is realistic enough to know that his chances of an imminent breakthrough into the first team fold at Tottenham remain slim for now.

He was quoted yesterday as saying: "I'm about seventh in Spurs' pecking order and with the boss' reputation in the transfer market, it wouldn't surprise me if he got someone in January!

"But I'm still in the picture. I train with the first-team squad on Mondays and Tuesdays and the boss often asks how things are going on at Bristol."

Rumours that Redknapp then muttered something about not being a wheeler dealer before storming out of the room in a sulk have yet to be confirmed.

In any case, Caulker – and, as a result, Spurs – is well-served by playing regular Championship football for now and, given that he is still a few years short of what one would deem a suitable age for a young centre-back to become a Premier League regular, the next few seasons could see him become hot property amongst second-tier clubs searching for loans.

He has already made the step up from League One having spent last season at erstwhile FA Cup giant-killers Yeovil Town, where he racked up 46 appearances on his way to winning four of the club’s five end-of-season awards.

A four-time borough 400m champion, the 6’3” Caulker has the athleticism to go with his traditional stopper’s qualities and he has been talked about as a potential Ledley King for the future – a high target to set for any young centre-back but one which he has made a jolly good start of realising.

With William Gallas, Michael Dawson, Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Bassong also on Spurs’ books, Caulker is unlikely to figure much in Tottenham’s first team for a few years yet but the kind of education he is currently getting at Ashton Gate could stand him in good stead to be a defensive stalwart for both club and country for years to come.
